Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I do have a few that do intervals. I also have a 3 mile one with the ab belt that's kinda fun every now and then. I haven't done any exercise today. I helped my hubby do some work in the garage, made lunch, and did some stuff for my girl scout meeting on Tuesday then I took an hour nap. I NEVER nap so it must've been needed.

Now I have company and if they leave soon I'll get something in.

We're headed out to Foxwoods casino in CT in a little while. DH is going to the Alice Cooper concert, and ds and I are tagging along to enjoy the hotel pool. It's a 2-hour drive, and I packed plenty of healthy snacks. We're planning to take in the Mystic Aquarium this afternoon, maybe I'll even try Mystic Pizza!

Maria :upsidedow

DD and I spent last year's Mother/Daughter time in Mystic, CT. We had a great time. We did have dinner at Mystic Pizza, but didn't really enjoy the pizza... it was too sweet for our taste. But it was really cool to be there and watch the movie playing (it plays continuously) and to take out picture outside. DD hasn't seen the movie yet (it is rated R and she is only 14), but I have let her see a few scenes so that she could see areas we visited and see what the big deal is about!

wasn't Mystic Pizza a movie back in the 80's ?

Sounds like lots of you have some great plans for the weekend!
Yup... it was a pretty good movie. Julie Roberts was a relative unknown when she was in it. She was/is SO pretty.

I have a ton of Walk Away the Pound videos that just got too easy and I wasn't getting my heart rate where it needed to be but that was 20 some pounds and much better shape ago. LOL. I should get the 5 miles one out today and get it done. I started with the 1 mile walk when I had just had my 1st daughter and with that and Curves I lost 30 pounds. I think I bought 6 more after that. A couple years ago I went to Turbo Jam and love love love them. I don't know why I haven't done my videos in so long but I always find an excuse.

I was going to use today as a rest day but I may change my mind and do WATP. I'll let you know what I end up doing.

I also found that to be the case with my WATP DVDs, but I added ankle weights and wrist weights and I really push to make every movement intense and I find that I can still get a decent workout it. I alternate those videos with some more intense ones, like Biggest Loser CardioMax and Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.

Hope its not to late to join in. I have really been wanting to start working out and watching what I eat but it only last a couple days. I am hoping that this helps and keeps me going. I am a mom of 4 and work full time. I am at 151.5 and need to get to 130. 2 years ago I was at 160 got down to 135 then have gained it all back. Love this site and can't wait to check MOn. I think having others to talk with daily if I need to will help lots!

Welcome, welcome, welcom! Glad to have you aboard!.................P

Mikamah and Billtm: Great meeting the two of you today! Hope you both got in your two servings of veggies for today! I hope we get to meet up again at another NE Dismeet!

We loved the train and the preview! We waited about 1 hr and 45 minutes but it was worth it and only had to wait to see the preview for about 5 minutes. The girls really enjoyed it and we got to see the carolers while we waited!

It was great meeting you both as well. I thought it was a great day overall. The movie looks awesome ... and I'm not a big going-to-the-movies person.

You did shame me after the first trip ... the second trip was filled with onions, peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, garlic, and calamari.

We should have taken a picture together but I thought of that on the way to the subway.

I do have some pictures of the Fire & Ice grill that I will post soon.

.they are about the only workouts that I can do. I have tried others and I am just not cordinated enough, even the
.

If in the future - for a change of pace - Jillian Michaels' own DVDs do not require coordination. It's all old school - more boot camp - and not footwork based.

Trust me. I'm laughing. It's strange to me. I'm a good dancer but once you throw in ANY set steps - ummmm I'm done. :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

You would think one comes with the other. :sad2::laughing:

Welcome Tara!!! :goodvibes Never too late to join. A leader will be by any moment.

Gained back a little at the meet yesterday! Oh well! Had all my water today and a little more as I didn't get to have it all yesterday as I didn't want to be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes! Would've been difficult waiting to see the train. Did get my veggies in yesterday! Didn't work out today but have been pretty good. I finished some leftover enchilaladas for lunch and we had pork, salad and green beans.

DId i miss the QOTD today?

:welcome: its never to late to join up! on page one (I think its post #4) is a description of how everything works, and please don't hesitate to ask any questions. There's lots of people in the thread that have been involved in these challenges.
If you want to participate in weigh-ins, just send me (LuvBaloo) your starting weight and I'll add you to the tracking file :goodvibes:

Now I've got to get off my butt and get the kids hair cut, and fold some laundry and do some exercising to burn off some of the McDonalds that I ate today. I've had a craving for the nuggets and fries, and gave into it. Hopefully, I can be good the rest of the week!

Here's my thoughts on weighing in everyday. For some people it works and helps them stay focussed, for others, it kills their motivation because they see a change in the scale and over-react when its really just variety in your body. I used to weigh in everyday when I had the scale out in the bathroom and it could change 2lbs from morning to morning depending on water retention etc, so I quit doing it. Now I generally only weigh in once a week, but do occasionally do a mid-week weigh-in if I think it will motivate me. Sometimes seeing a mid-week loss, makes me think "yes, doing good, I can keep this up" or a mid-week gain, makes me think "better get moving"

Tigger813, I don't think there was QOTD put out this morning. Sometimes on the weekends the coach gets busy and doesn't get one out each day :goodvibes

Are all these walking DVD's for use with treadmills?

No. They are more like low-impact aerobics for the uncordinated ;)

You "walk" by marching in place then she adds kicks (regular & kick backs), knee lifts & side steps. Some of the workouts add some other variations but those are the four "core" moves. Incorporated in to all the work outs are various arm moves and some workouts add light restistance training with light weights (up to 3 pounds), a stetchie band or "ab belt."

thanks, I've never seen those, but I haven't looked at exercise videos for a long time.

I'm way out of the loop - this past week has exhausted me. I worked 10-14 hours each day, then Friday afternoon flew to NJ to drop off DD with my folks and today flew back to MN. I still need to unpack and repack as I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a business trip. I've eaten out at least 1 meal a day, can't find time to exercise, and have let stress get the better of me a few times. I was holding it all together except for those few moments, until last night. We went out to a nice, family dinner at the restaurant where my sister works in NY. As I was carrying DD back from the bathroom, I slipped and fell. I managed to hang on to DD, but my left arm went into the shelf of wine glasses. I thought everything was okay, until I pulled my arm out. It looked pretty terrible, but after cleaning up, only needed 4 band-aids. It feels silly, but the drama completely wore me out! I suppose it was the last straw after this week. I don't know how I'm going to put in 12-15 hour days all this coming week. *sigh* I didn't mean to come in here just to complain and be all "woe is me" - I really am okay. There is a light at the end of the tunnel - after this week, I should be done with overtime and business trips for several months.

I'm going to try my best this week not to let the long hours deter me from healthy choices. Working long hours make me feel like I deserve treats. I know that's not a good mindset. I need to find time to check in with you all to help remind me this week not to give up on healthy habits.

Princessbride6205, what a rough week. glad the cuts were minor and your DD was okay. Hang in there!:flower3::cheer2::upsidedow

Sorry about the lack ofQOTD yesterday - I thought we were doing just one weekend question.....and then yes, things did get a little hairy yesterday!

Here's one for today:

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

I am a big fan of my legs right now, so today I'm putting on lotion and a skirt that shows them off a little!

The only part of my body I like is my eyes. They are a very light green with yellow flecks in them. I need to start using eye makeup again to bring them out. I need to also go back to contacts so that you can see them. I could try walking around without my glasses but would be black and blue from running into things. :lmao:

OH that is right where I am today...I went wild this weekend and gained FIVE POUNDS!! What the heck?? Of course I went from making everything from scratch to tailgate/cook out food...:scared1: So today I am puffy, hungry (!), dejected and recommitted. :hippie: I am determined to get a workout in, walk the dog (hoping we don't blow away - 40 mph winds today!). I also have a sick dd but she can stay in alone for 1/2 hour...right?? She's 11 1/2. (the guilt is starting already for wanting to go for a walk)

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

Not really a body part but I have been making sure to take care of my skin again - washing my face and using my products, and using lotion. My skin feels so wonderful and smooth that I really feel like I'm doing something good for myself.

today I like my hair, which I have to wear up for work, so I won't be doing anything to show it off this week. I also like my eyes, so I'll be wearing a bit of eyeliner to accent them this weekend. I don't wear makeup to work, since its dusty and I wipe my face with damp towel a few times a day.

I hope your DD feels better, and I'm sure she'll be fine while you get a walk in. :goodvibes

And I'm tired already for today, since I didn't go to sleep early, slept poorly, and got up at 4:40am to book cruises for 2011. But I'm happy that we got the LA to Vancouver repo, and the first alaska cruise.:cool1::woohoo:

I like my collar bones - which I can actually see for the first time in forever!
