Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I already posted this but since it's not here I am not sure WHERE I posted it. LOL!

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

I am not liking any part of my body right now. Nothing! That is why I'm doing this challenge. If I had to pick a part though I would say I am "ok with" my calves. Thay still have some definition even though I haven's done much of anything lately. I never wear shorts (except at home), skirts or dresses so I won't be showing them off this week.

I've been doing kinda bad on the cows. I've gotten the water one down and the 5 minutes to myself every night after I put my girls to bed but the others are proving to be a bit harder. Flossing isn't hard but it's not somthing I normally do so it's not routine yet. And weekend are kinda here and there so I don't always get my veggies in. I'll keep trying harder!

Oh the weighing in thing, I weigh every morning and then some somedays. I know I shouldn't but in the beginning it keeps me on my toes. I'll try to do once a week. Maybe that should be a cow. LOL! It would be a hard one for me anyway!

What do I like about myself in appearence?
Right now my face and hair. Women in my family tend to gray fairly early, my mom at 38, me at 45-ish. I let it go gray/silver and cut it a little shorter but I've been feeling that it is making me look and feel older. So I finally caved in and coloured it!
Yesterday I was looking in the bathroom mirror and thought " gee, I look pretty good"
That's not a thought that I have very often, unfortuately, so I was very happy!

PS Eating my veggies!

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

I like lots of parts, but there are also parts I need to encourage :goodvibes

This week, I'm going to make it a point to actually do a manicure (I just never get to this), so I can enjoy my hands and the new nail polish I bought myself for meeting my last 5 lbs goal. Still slogging away at this 5 lbs...and it is going ridiculously slow! I guess I should just be happy I haven't gained over the last goal :scared1:

DH said this Alice Cooper concert (his 23rd!) was the best he's seen yet. We never made it over to Mystic, but we did go to Mohegan Sun so I could eat at Margaritaville. I'm trying to hit them all! I enjoyed it ok, but not nearly like I have other places. I think I'm just not the casino type. :sad2: Between the last 2 weekends, we've been to 5 New England states (well, we live in MA, so I guess that doesn't really count). We just never seem to make it to Vermont -- too far to go for ice cream, and nothing else really interests us there. :rolleyes1

ShortyNBug -- I really hope you start to find parts you can appreciate. I know there has to be something you like about yourself (I mean really like, not just tolerate) -- your eyes, luxuriant hair, your brain! Think of all the things your body does for you. Even if your appearance isn't making you happy, your heart keeps beating, your thoughts keep coming, and your body is carrying you around every day, allowing you to do the things you enjoy. You are a unique and special person, and your body is part of what makes you, well, you!

January -- I am looking for my collar bones, that will be a great milestone for me! :goodvibes

Shannon -- Your cruises sound fabulous! :yay:

Ok, back to earning my salary...:headache:

Maria :upsidedow

today I like my hair, which I have to wear up for work, so I won't be doing anything to show it off this week. I also like my eyes, so I'll be wearing a bit of eyeliner to accent them this weekend. I don't wear makeup to work, since its dusty and I wipe my face with damp towel a few times a day.

I hope your DD feels better, and I'm sure she'll be fine while you get a walk in. :goodvibes

And I'm tired already for today, since I didn't go to sleep early, slept poorly, and got up at 4:40am to book cruises for 2011. But I'm happy that we got the LA to Vancouver repo, and the first alaska cruise.:cool1::woohoo:

Thanks - that will help me get over my mom guilt. ;) Congrats on your cruises - how exciting!! That should give you an adrenaline boost!

Thanks! I needed that kick in the pants. After I read it I sat here thinking, and I still can't come up with anything but I know that I am the one who made me look this way and I am the only one that can not only change the way I look but the way I feel.

I hope to update you with something I'm loving about my body soon!

Here's a question for you WW pros --

I've been counting hummus as a veggie --is that right, or should it be a protein?

Thanks!

I think I like my legs the best, because I have worked so hard to tone them. I also like that I can see the muscle definition. :woohoo:

I seriously need to work on my middle. It has too much flab and makes me feel uncomfortable. I am looking forward to getting it toned and awesome.:yay:

I am very happy for the new week. Last week is past and this week is filled with all new possibilities!!! :cool1:

Have a Magical Day!!! pixiedust:

I know there are not a lot of pictures on this site but we had DISer's from the W.I.S.H. boards with DIS Unplugged Podcast people. It was a great time IMO, great weather, great people and Tracey (Tigger813) reminded me about the veggie requirements for this weeks COW.

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

I've always been blessed with nearly perfect hands/fingernails, so I'll stick with that to be safe :rotfl2:

As far as parts that I've seen change due to diet, that would definitely be my face/neck. I look like a completely different person (and that's a good thing). I've also lost 2" around my thighs and calves which are looking better than they have in a long time.

All in all, I love my body, just wish there were less of it to love!:upsidedow

Looks like you all had a blast at the Boston DIS meet!!!

Nice photos, Billtm! We'll have to get photos of our skinnier selves at the next NE DisMeet!

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

I like my hips and my upper arms. Both went down BIG time when I originally started working out in December. Showing off my arms today with a sleeveless top while I can! I'm kind of in between sizes to show off the hips though the pants I was wearing yesterday were hanging off my hips. Not to just get rid of the bulge of my BELLY!

Did the 2 mile WATP and then walked 5.6 miles with my Mom. Ate a small salad at lunch as we are getting fried clams and scallops tonight. I'll have to try and squeeze in a 30 min. free step tonight to walk off supper. Working tomorrow so not sure how much I'll get in hopefully at least the 2 mile WATP. Think I'm going to look at some more of her videos next week when I'm at Best Buy.

Maria :upsidedow

I would definitely count it as a protein. It is made from chick peas, which are a legume, not a vegetable. And depending on what type you make/buy, it can be pretty high in points, so be careful! I found one that is a bit lower in points... I'll check it out when I get home and let you know which it was.............P

Hope its not to late to join in. I have really been wanting to start working out and watching what I eat but it only last a couple days. I am hoping that this helps and keeps me going. I am a mom of 4 and work full time. I am at 151.5 and need to get to 130. 2 years ago I was at 160 got down to 135 then have gained it all back. Love this site and can't wait to check MOn. I think having others to talk with daily if I need to will help lots!

:welcome: taragarza1! It is never too late to join a BL challenge. Please PM your starting weight to LuvBaloo. Next weigh in is Friday, 10/2/09.

Sorry about the lack of QOTD yesterday - I thought we were doing just one weekend question.....and then yes, things did get a little hairy yesterday!

Here's one for today:

9/29 QOTD: What part of your body do you like right now? What can you do to nurture or show off that body part this week?

It's perfectly fine to do just one QOTD for the week-ends. Everyone is busy so whatever works for the coach is fine with us! :goodvibes

I love my big, blue eyes. I have very long lashes which makes them look even bigger. I always look better in eye makeup but don't wear it every day. I can just barely tolerate organic mascara -- everything else makes my eyes hurt. Tomorrow I have a big meeting so I will suck it up and wear some eye makeup.

OH that is right where I am today...I went wild this weekend and gained FIVE POUNDS!! What the heck?? Of course I went from making everything from scratch to tailgate/cook out food...:scared1: So today I am puffy, hungry (!), dejected and recommitted. :hippie: I am determined to get a workout in, walk the dog (hoping we don't blow away - 40 mph winds today!). I also have a sick dd but she can stay in alone for 1/2 hour...right?? She's 11 1/2. (the guilt is starting already for wanting to go for a walk)

Sorry that your daughter is ill. She can definitely stay on the couch for 1/2 an hour by herself so you can walk. How can you take care of her if you don't care of Jenn? :confused3

Hey Shannon! We are on the LA to Vancouver cruise, too! :cool1: Only 576 days to go! :rotfl:

Looks like all you NE folks had a good time at the meet this week-end!

Have a great, OP day all!

Thanks! I'm eating single serve portions of Sabra Hummus. I pick up a package of them at BJ's. It's 4 pts for the container. I have that with grape tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. I also have a Nature's Promise yogurt for dessert (2 pts), and Eat Smart veggie crisps (2 pts). It's an 8 pt lunch. I feel nicely full, so I hope that's an ok lunch :confused3

Sounds like a pretty yummy lunch to me!

melaniec posted a great hummus recipe on the thread here last week -- it sounds easy to make.

BilltM - thanks for sharing pictures :thumbsup2

Hey Shannon! We are on the LA to Vancouver cruise, too! :cool1: Only 576days to go! :rotfl:

:cool1: over in the cruise meets section there's a thread for this cruise (18pages already! :scared1: Looks like there's lots of experienced cruisers on there.

Just had to post that I went for my walk  my sick dd actually told me to go and that she will be fine:goodvibes and I'm very proud that I did. Thanks for the encouragement!!

I'm going to check out the cruise thread and cruise vicariously. :thumbsup2 One day we'll be going just not in the next 5 years.

The dis meet looked fun! Thanks for posting the pics. How was the train? I missed it when it was near here, but I heard the lines were very long.

18 pages?!? :scared1: I'll go check it out. I had better be on the maintainer team by the time I go on that cruise! :rotfl:

The train was good, about 4 cars filled with props and displays from the movie. One car showed how they did all the computer animation portion. The last car you could morph your face into 1 of the the characters and get it emailed to you. I'll post some pictures of the train.

The train tour is headed down the east coast and turns around to finish in NYC at Grand Central Station.

Sounds like everyone had a good time in Boston on Sat. Thanks for the pictures. I loved the one with the piece of brocolli. Always think about the COW.

I kind of wish I was going on the Alaska cruise. DH is just starting to think about going on a cruise and we debated if we wanted to sign up for it. It was just too far out to think about 2011. We are still thinking about 2010 vacation.

I bought a new pedometer yesterday and I am already on 5000 steps for today. The old one was too thick. This new one is a skinny one. It is about the size of a thick credit card. My last one kept resetting itself. I would look and see 3200 steps and when I checked an hour later it was at 800 steps. This new one has a flatter button for restting.

Pretty quiet day here. Jewish holyday so dh and I had the day off. I did my grocery shopping thismorning. I have a roast beef in the oven and am getting ready to fix some roasted cauliflower to go with it.

I finished knitting a pair of mittens for myself and I also taught a friend to knit mittens this weekend. She used bulky yarn and was able to finish one mitten on Sunday.

Someone mentioned a crazy week that she was going to have. It must be the week for it. Even though it is a 4 day week it will seem much longer. Tuesday is fine. Wednesday we have an hour of inservice (admin is trying this) so the day will be crazy. Thursday I have regular classes but at night we have back to school night so I have to go through my schedule all over again. The only good thing is that I don't have a last period class so I can get out before the crazy traffic starts. Then we finally hit Friday.

ANyone going to see the Toy Story double feature this weekend. Ds2 is coming home from college and we are getting tickets for the first showing on Sat morning.

Have a good evening. Keep working on the COW.

Ate ok today. Still no veggies. Well, besides the few carrots I grabbed from the fridge after my workout. Unless you count ketchup as a veggie. :)

Had my first 32oz of water done by 9:30 this morning. I am over 100oz by now.

Am staying on track with the Cto5K also. Hoping to start week 2 Wed....somehow.
