Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I moved and was living in other's houses after we sold - unable to find a new place to buy and although I was fortunate - well it wasn't so good for routine

I hear you on moving and routine. I moved this past spring and totoally threw me off routine. I hate moving!

QOTD:
I know I am going to eat what I want but I am hoping I can work on sharing so not eating the quantity I would have before.

This is an excellenet idea. Eat what you want, you are on vacation after all. But controlling HOW MUCH you eat is the important thing. Have that yummy corn dog, but skip the chips and eat a healthier dinner. Have that Mickey Ice Cream bar as a treat ONE day but not every day.
 
Are Crystal Light drinks allowed for the water. I need some flavoring if I'm going to drink that much water. I drink some plain and some flavored. I just bought a gallon pitcher and I also have a plain water pitcher (Brita).

You can have Crystal Light for some of your water but not all of it.

DId everyone hear about the Disney Wonder??? It looks like it will be sent to do Alaska cruises out of Vancouver in the summer of 2011!!!

WOW Maybe I can do both an Alaskan cruise and a Disney cruise. Alaska is one of the few places dh says he wants to see on a cruise.

Since many of us don't know each other, I'll start with something simple: What's the meaning of your DisName? and for part 2: We have all set our own goals for this 14-week challenge, have you got a mini-goal to help measure success along the way? The goal could be a small weight loss, or exercising a number of times in a week, or a belt notch or . . . . .

1. My disname is just my first name with the initial of my last name
2. I would like to lose at least 5 pounds. I will start with that and hope I can go farther.
 
I just wanted to say thanks to Luv Baloo for coaching the first week as it is so crazy with postings. I weighed in today and was flabbergasted to see I was down to 145 this week. Seems just reading the boards again has made me lose weight. So I just have 10 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight of 135, then I will gladly join the maintainers. I am so glad for this option this time. If the glasses are 8 ounces (for the cow) then I can easily do that. I got frustrated last time I think because my glasses of anything I drink are so huge I was thinking a glass of water was more like 16 ounces..
As far as taking a few minutes out each day--I've got that lol as I've been reading the Harry Potter books and that means I've been taking more like 2-3 hours at least a day for myself lol.

QOTD1: My screen name is partly because I love the movie Princess Bride and part because we got married at Disney, so I like to think of myself as a princess bride. :upsidedow 6-2-05 is our wedding date.
QOTD2: Mini goals - I hadn't really decided on any yet. For the rest of September my goal is working out 4x a week regardless of how busy and tired working extra hours makes me.

Oh, me too! Our closing date on the house we're in now was delayed so many times that it felt like we were living out of boxes, waiting to move, for months. Nothing throws a wrench in the diet-and-exercise routine like having half your kitchen, all your workout videos, your exercise clothes, and everything else packed from April to July!

1) My screename is a combination of my first and last names that I use for all my boards, emails etc.

2) My mini-goal is to work on portion control issues. I am sticking to Lean Cuisines, fresh fruit, soups etc with preset portions for a while to remind myself about appropriate portions. Otherwise I tend to cheat myself by counting a 20 point plate of food (such as a plate piled high with spaghetti) as a 10 pointer and wonder why I am not having success. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the point. :confused3

I love the individual frozen meals for lunch!:worship: I found they really helped me get started last January.

1) My screenname is my maiden name initials plus my nickname as a child. My uncles dressed me up and said I looked like a russian grandmother (ba bushka)

2) My mini goal is to not pig out at Disneyland next week. We leave the 16th and don't come home until the 21st and I am worried. I know I am going to eat what I want but I am hoping I can work on sharing so not eating the quantity I would have before. I plan to split meals with my ds4 and to eat treats but get 1 for the whole family of 4 to share instead of one for each of us!

My DisName is just a play on my last name and I like to think I retain some child-like qualities (loving Disney, for one). Some would probably say childish, but moving on...

My first-mini goal is to make better food choices for several days in a row. I have been so out of control for so long. (Long term - I want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit for PodCastCruise2.0.)


I have a dilemma. Since I am such a new poster, I cannot PM or e-mail anyone except the staff. I can't weigh in!

Maybe I'll just go onto the boards and start replying with abandon to random people. Stop the lurking!! Join the party!

1) lol I didn't think when I was registering lol so its my name!

2) this ones kinda hard... my main focus right know is the marathon I started training with C25K and with in 2 days I got massive shin splints a week later I went to the docs to make sure I didn't have a stress fracture they said I did not but found a small mass on my bone that they believe is just a cyst and told me to take it easy and check in back in a month, so I have to say that was VERY depressing and I have been in the down and outs since. Thats kinda why I am joining you guys to get back to it! I need this race Its hard to explain but I need to prove to myself that I am worth it and that I Can Do It! and be a fabulous princess during it LOL

Last year, for a while I had a sign taped to the bathroom mirror that said "I CAN DO IT - I'M WORTH IT!" If you are feeling down, I highly recommend putting it in writing &/or saying it OUT LOUD to yourself every morning.


DisCanCan - I'm picking one of your goals out an adding it to mine: I love rht simplicity of this one: Stay positive & just be healthy!!

Mine's really uninteresting - it is my first name and my lucky number.

As far as mini-goals, my first is a pair of pants that buttons but are too tight to be comfortable through a day of chasing my toddler daughter. I want to get into those.

Beyond that, I'm thinking about taking Airtime247's suggestion and looking for run/walks in my area to use as goals. I know there is one coming up in early Oct that is a fundraiser for an arts organization I've donated to in the past, and I think there's one for the zoo sometime in the fall as well. Those might be fun ways to stay motivated on the exercise front.

You bet I heard about it. ::yes:: DH was on the phone with me a few hours ago discussing what we want to do! :banana: I want on that boat! :banana:We were originally thinking about doing the PC repo when the ship comes over, but now I want the repo from LA to Vancouver (I'm only 6 hours away from there!) and then a trip to Alaska! :banana::banana: It would be so cool to be on the ship when it arrives in my home province!:dance3::dance3::dance3: (can you tell I'm excited!) And I love Victoria, which is one of the stops planned for the Alaskan cruises. :thumbsup2

Donac - thanks for doing the COW! Its silly, but I actually do better at drinking the water when the COW is happening :thumbsup2 I know I should be doing it all the time, but I do better when you tell me to.!

More exercise. I've gotten out of it. Even though I have lost weight I have jeans that were looser at 150 than at 145.

I think its so true, that its not just the weight, its the shape! :thumbsup2

4x week is a great goal. :thumbsup2 I think that might be my October goal. This month, I tried just aiming for 500 minutes in the month or 3x week!

Wow I just read this the Port of Vancouver is around 45 minutes from my house, Vancouver is a beautiful city and sailing under the Lions Gate bridge is something not to be missed!!! I am really happy so many more people will get to enjoy Vancouver and Alaska - I have cruised twice to Alaska and the scenery is spectacular.

I did really well with the water drinking today--I have one of those metal (?) reusable water bottles and I worked a full day today so I kept filling it up, I had 5 bottles Yay me. Weird thing is I was still thirsty... I'm getting in some of that me time now, well sort of, I'm multitasking, but it sort of counts, lol. Off to Pm my weight now!

My 1st mini goal is to do my interval workouts and resistance workouts --I can do it 3x a week if I combine the sessions or I can do one session a day for 5 days... So I'm going to focus on getting back in the groove and exercise Everyday! my other mini goal is to lose 5lbs in the next 2 or 3 weeks

Ugh. Well I just got back from riding my bike to Grocery Outlet. Didn't count on filling the dang store bag crammed full plus having a swinging (heavy) bag hanging off my handlebars lol. Got some great bargains though and healthy stuff including a canteloupe, grapes,peaches, spinache and mushrooms. It's hot too- almost 90. But I did it lol.

I was so excited about the Alaskan Cruise email I got I worked up a massive sweat at the gym (I was feeling a little icky and skipped my morning workout for the first time in months and felt guilty). This actually makes a Disney cruise more than a dream for me.

My screen name is lack of originality. My friend started calling me the crazy arctic redhead in her blog ...I protested and settled for Northern Julie. It felt all my other names were reflective of a time gone by and t his felt me now.

My goals are all about planning ahead and staying on track. The reality is my body is going to fight me. I have PCOS which makes my weight loss slow but I am going to be positive because this is more than numbers to me. So I make meals on sunday and freeze them. Sometimes it is enough for a month. Being single I hate the time cooking takes for one. I also want to stay active this winter. Actually I would love to get up the courage to ice skate at the public arena when it opens up so if I stay active maybe I will put my embaressment aside.

Thanks for those who set this up. I am actually taking the time to think a little each day which is making a huge differance in just a few days. So hopfully I don't babble to much.

:scared1: On my way home from work today I had to drive by an accident where someone had hit a cyclist.:sad2: The bike was completely mangled, and the young man ooked to be in rough shape. When I walked in my door I asked both my kids what they have to wear on their heads. They are 4 & 7 and are just learning to ride. They both said helmets :thumbsup2 And then I gave them a big hug. So please to everybody out there, be careful when riding a bike and when driving around them! Sorry to be off topic, I just found that accident scene very shocking.
 
Hey, I just had to figure out how many days we'll be there in 59 days!! It sounds so close now. I can't wait either!! We're staying at Pop, what about you? My trip is a big motivator for this challenge. I have loved reading everyone's answer to today's qotd. Really getting me in the mood.

We stayed at POP last trip and really enjoyed it. I thought it was an excellent value. We bought DVC this summer, so when we go in November we're staying at Bay Lake Tower. It's our first DVC trip, so I'm very excited about that, too.

Yesterday I made reservations for the Segway tour one of the mornings we're there...I'm saving it as a surprise for my boyfriend and I'm so excited and DYING to tell him. We've done it once before and it was so much fun, but I know he isn't expecting to do it this trip....

1. The meaning of my name: My daughter started to ice skate when she was 4 years old. She decided to quit skating last April at the age of 14. Therefore, I was an ice skater's mom for 10 years.

2. I am a Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers. Presently, I am 8 pounds over my goal weight. I need to get back in control before the situation gets out of control. My short term goal is to workout at least four times this week and drink water instead of diet Pepsi.
