Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

I would plan my spring break vacation. There has not been enough hours in the day to focus on the positives like vacation planning. I am excited to get away for Easter this year! Sadly it can't be Disney World because Easter is too busy off a week. I have gone several times over New Year's and I now how crowded holidays are. So it is going to be Captiva Island, Fl or San Diego. We will see where I can get a better deal! Either way I am guaranteed to spend my birthday in warm location! :cool1:

I really want to be in good shape for spring break. I do not want anymore FAT vacation pictures!!!!

I hope everyone has a magical day! pixiedust:

Thanks for coaching, Jen! :cheer2:

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????
Well, if I wasn't sick, I'd exercise more - a nice long workout. But since I'm just lying on the couch today as it is, I guess I would just get more sleep.

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

Just for today, I would catch up on my Tivo! I am so far behind... I have 4 Ghost Whisperers (not new, I'm watching it from the beginning on SyFy since I've never seen it), Castle, Three Rivers, and Sanctuary.

If I had known I was getting 2 extra hours when I woke up, I would have slept in and done my workout when I woke up (I'm assuming I can place my extra 2 hours wherever I want). I hopped on the TM this am because I couldn't face 5M after work, not because I was eager to be up :rotfl2:

Maria :upsidedow

I didn't get onto the computer yesterday. We had nice relaxing Remembrance Day. One DD was in the parade with her Brownies troop, and I got to pack the younger DD during the parade and wreath-laying ceremony. Sore arms today after packing 45pounds of little girl for an hour yesterday. I really need to get stronger. Then it was family game time in the afternoon followed by homework time for me. I ended up not getting to sleep until 3am so I'm feeling a little tired today.

QOTD: I think every single one of us has had to oversome some sort of weight loss myth or idea firmly planted in our heads in our journey to become healthier, What weight loss myth have you had to face and triumph over???

That just because it sounds healthy, it might not be. When I started really trying to lose weight, we'd go to Quizno's instead of McDonalds, thinking a sub is a healthier option. Then I started WW and checked into the sub I love from Quizno's and it was 40points:scared1: Now I know not to assume something is healthy.

One of my favorite xmas specials is A Muppet Family Christmas. We have the original uncut version on vhs that my husband recorded. That and Peewee's Christmas special lol. The Snowman would be the next on my list I think. We have the original version of that with Bowie narrating. Then of course the ever popular A Christmas Story.
Mr. Parker: Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian.

We have the Muppet Family Christmas too and its so cute. Very early appearance of Elmo in that one:thumbsup2 And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!:dance3:

:cheer2:congrats to Lisa and Corinna on your NSV's! :cheer2:

Had a horrible two days this week in which I pigged out and it showed on the scale tonight at my ww meeting. Will be reporting a gain on Friday. Ugh. In the past 5 weeks I have lost a grand total of .2 lbs....not even a half lb. I am so frustrated that I actually asked my dh to train me (he is in school to become a personal trainer.) We start friday for a two week trial run. I just need something to get me refocused and back in the gym. Hope everyone is having a better week than I am!

Sarah

Have fun training with your DH:dance3:

pjlla - condolences to your DD on her guinea pig. That's a tough one for kids :flower3:

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????
I would like to think I would exercise or take more time for myself[/COLOR]

Today I'd have a nap. Can the rest of the world freeze while I sneak my 2 hours in before picking up the kids? If the rest of the world is frozen I could have absolute silence without interruption.:snooty::goodvibes

I am happy that I did one hour of stepping while watching Biggest Loser on Tuesday. DH isn't normally home on Tuesdays so it was interesting watching with him, and talking to him while watching and exercising made me less aware of time, so I did more :cool1: I plan to get a workout in today hopefully while watching Glee :goodvibes . I have tracked my food diligently this week and have ended up using some of my activity points, but I am hoping for some kind of a loss again. Last week's gain made me 0.6pounds OVER my BL8 starting weight which is crappy.

QOTD: I would probably either sleep as I'm felling lousy or if I was feeling better I would do 2 more massages so I'd have more money for Christmas shopping!

Not going to the chair massage event as I'm feeling lousy and actually had a fever when I got home from work. Achy and my head feels funny. It is for charity which is great but the woman also didn't tell me this until I specifically asked how I was being paid. I thought I would be making some money tonight which I really need. But I can't be giving people massages if I'm sick either. I hope it goes well for her as she seemed very nice. Going to lay on the couch all night and also help DD1 finish her book report. And actually go to bed early for a change, I hope! I'll watch Gray's and Private Practice tomorrow! Time for some motrin now as I'm getting achier by the minute!

Tracey -- Feel better! It is very responsible of you not to go to the event. Some people would make a martyr of themselves and show up, and infect everyone they worked on. I'm glad you are staying home and resting, so you will feel better and no one else will get sick. I'm watching Grey's tomorrow, too. I like to have it on tape so I can FF and RW at will!

Shannon -- So true about things not being healthy just because they "sound" that way. Very disappointing, too!

We have an awful lot of people who don't feel well and need naps. Please go to bed early if you can!

Maria :upsidedow

I hope everyone who is under the weather gets better soon!

I sneaked a peek on the scale this morning and am finally thrilled! after my gain last week and very little loss the weeks before..I think I finally will have a nice loss to report this week. :)

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

I would just sit with my DD and watch a movie....I am so busy lately, I haven't had time for just us time.

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

I would probably knit. I always plan too many projects this time of year and this year is no different. Lots of mittens to knit for neices and nephews.

I hope everyone who is feeling lousy feel better soon. I thought I was getting sick yesterday but I woke up feeling better. I did go to bed early last night and I do think that helped. Tonight I have yoga and I may go to bed soon after I get home.

Have a nice evening. I will get the COW up later. Right now I have to write up a worksheet for my geometry class tomorrow. The guy who is supposed to be new principal in January is coming in to that class to observe me.

I'm thinking of everyone who is feeling poorly - hang in there and feel better soon!

pjlla- I'm so sorry to hear about your DD guinea pig. She is in my prayers. Guinea pigs are such gentle and lovely creatures. I have had many myself throughout the years. A few years back I put together a little booklet for two children who lost their dog suddenly. I'd like to share one of the poems:

My precious, furry friend-
Part mischief, but all blessing,
And faithful to the end!
You looked at me with eyes of love;
You never held a grudge . . .
You thought me far too wonderful
To criticize or judge.
It seems your greatest joy in life
was being close to me . . .
I think God knew how comforting
Your warm, soft fur would be.
I know you thought that you were human,
I'm glad it wasn't true . . .
The world would be a nicer place
If people were like you!
A few short years were all we had;
One day we had to part . . .
But you, my friend, will always have
A place within my heart.

H H Kolb

My weight loss myth to overcome is that you have so much more energy when you lose weight? Well, I didn't, at least, not while I was losing.

2 extra hours today? I'd get started insulating the attic, this beautiful weather can't last forever:)

Pamela - so sorry about your DD's little Guin. They are such cute, social little guys. I hope your DD is managing OK. It's so hard to lose a beloved pet.

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

It's a toss up between sleep and meal planning/ grocery shopping. Joy.

Good evening everyone. I finshed my worksheet for tomorrow just in time to make yoga class. As soon as I got home I had to return my twin sister's phone call. She just got back from Japan and I had to talk to her since she is having foot surgery next week and I may not get to talk to her this weekend.

pjlla sorry to hear about the guinea pig. We had them for several years and when they died we all missed them. They are the most gentle animals I have ever had. We even had some born to one of ours. They are not like hamsters or rats. They have a longer gestation period and when they are born they look like puff balls. It looked like God had dropped 4 little puff balls in the cage.

Well on to what you came to see.

Well... you got me crying this morning!! Thanks SO much for that lovely poem. I will be reprinting it on the memorial scrapbook page about the GP that I am making for DD's book. It is VERY sweet.

DD is doing okay.. no more crying it seems. But she is very concerned about the other piggy. The remaining piggy seems so sad and lonely. She just sits in the corner of her cage. But she is eating and drinking. Yesterday I put her in a laundry basket and brought her up to my room so she would be near my Mom and I while we were scrapbooking. I thought it might help her to hear voices nearby. She seemed to like being there. And I handfed her some tomatoes (her favorite) and apple.... so she got a bit of spoiling.

I haven't hit the scale yet this morning. I want to do about 20 more minutes of exercise and then I will. Be back later when I do......P

Hope to get a workout in before weigh in. I think I may have a small gain as I didn't feel up to working out yesterday though I did 100 crunches and 100 reverse crunches.
I may be home today due to DD2 being sick. She's been coughing this morning and she sounds yucky. My fever is gone though I'm still tired. Going to clean my room and organize the Christmas presents that have been purchased so far. My house is a disaster area so I will be spending other parts of my day cleaning that up. And taking care of my little peanut.

Wow.... I can't believe how many of you are sick or have sick children. :confused3 They are calling this flu a "pandemic" and I believe it. Hopefully if it is hitting this early, it will be done early. to each of you who are dealing with this! And another:hug: to your kiddos!

We are (knock on wood) all well here. DD is still coughing, but I expected that. It is definitely improving though.

I am pleased to report I am a SAMER this week. This week was REALLY a struggle for me with the eating, so I am happy to be the same. I kept up the exercise, so that is probably what saved me. Plus no PMS in the house, so that helped!! ;)

Mom and I scrapped for several hours yesterday. I would be up for doing it again, but she might be bored, so I'm not sure what today will bring. DD has a swim event out of town Sat and Sun, so I will be doing lots of driving, but I am already planning on packing healthy lunches and snacks so that we can avoid the drive through and concession stand foods! We may still end up with a meal out Sat or Sun night... but I'm sure I can make a good choice.

I came on here THREE TIMES yesterday to answer the QOTD and I got interrupted every time, so here goes!!

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

I must say, without a doubt, I would scrapbook. It is one of my favorite activities and I don't get NEARLY enough time to do it. The house is fairly clean because I cleaned for DMom's visit.... I took the end of the week off for the visit, so no work stuff. The kids are in school, so no kid stuff. And I'm not a napper, so I don't really crave that. And while I have kept up with my exercise, I don't love it, so I wouldn't feel compelled to do any extra!

Well... I'm off to hit the shower and see what we are going to do today! Happy Friday the 13th to you all!! (sorry... there was no black cat smilie!)..................P

yes, I know feeling sick can really put a stop to your workouts, and even more so when you have a little one that needs attention..god help you if you have both going. My little DD2 has the swine flu...not sure if we will be going to the Doctors today. The fever is so high...it is VERY worry some. I know I won't emotionally eat, I just don't want the stress not to get at me. This is an area of weight-loss I don't have a good handle on. So, here is my question to the group. When you are stressed, very stressed what are some good ways to stay on the path to reaching your goal weight? How do you keep your mind in a place that you can continue to be true to do what you need to do? Ultimately, we have to be healthy for our families, so we can live a long and fun life with them..being stressed, stress eating won't do us any good at the end of the day. Still, it happens...how can we get around this?

I would walk my little *** off if I had 2 hrs extra. It keeps me sane. I need it, I crave it more than chocolate. Maybe I would even run a little, it feels like dancing to me, so I could go for some dancing right now. Better days ahead. :)

Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in the BL8 Challenge! That is a great accomplishment!

A huge Thanks to Jenjolt for being our Coach last week, awesome questions!

Hi! I'm Maria and I'll be our Coach this week. This is my 3rd Challenge, and first time as a COW participant. I coached for a week during the Summer Challenge, and I'm ready to motivate us as we get ready for American Thanksgiving and all the December holidays! I work full-time as a grants professional for a large homeless services agency, and I've been married for 16 years, with one ds11. I have been overweight since grad school, and the pregnancy didn't help. That darn baby weight, still hanging around 12 years later :rolleyes1 This Challenge has been really productive for me, I'm getting to big milestones and loving it! We have an awesome group of participants, and I really think we'll make that 500 lb goal! :cheer2:

Ok on to the Fun for Friday Friday QOTD: Which Disney hero(ine) is your significant other most like? Why is this a good fit for you? And if you don't have one right now, which Disney parent is most like one of yours, and how did that help form your personality?

My dh is like Shang, from Mulan. He's all business, but he can be romantic when he needs to, and he appreciates a woman who can take care of herself - and even save him occasionally if the need arises. ;) He is a great fit for me because we are so different -- while I have a strong core and am very capable, I also like my flights of fancy and imagination. He is very practical, I am very magical :wizard:, it's a great fit!

I can't wait to read your replies!

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning, all! :goodvibes

Please remember to PM those weights to LuvBaloo and COW numbers to donac today. :thumbsup2

I've been MIA for a bit, but luckily with the help of a few people I've been staying in touch with I have gotten back on track and things are finally starting to move. I really need to jump back into this thread. It's hard when you get behind sometimes.

Hi MelanieC! Glad to see you back! :flower3:

QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????

Interesting question! I would use 30 minutes for exercise (extra), 30 minutes for extra piano time and an hour to get ready for our guests coming tonight.

dreamlinda, hope that you can get in some relaxing time this week-end.

QOTD:Right now I have to write up a worksheet for my geometry class tomorrow. The guy who is supposed to be new principal in January is coming in to that class to observe me.

Too bad you don't get to observe him in turn and give him some pointers on how to be a good principal! ;)

redwalker, I think that you answered your own question! :thumbsup2

pjlla, so sorry about DDs guinea pig. Our little furry friends leave a big hole in our home when they go. The other guinea pig is probably lonely and a little freaked out. It may need more trips in the laundry basket to keep it company, unless you are going to get another guinea pig . . . :rolleyes1

:grouphug: to everyone who is sick or has sick family members. It is so scary when you realize that the real flu season -- the one we ususally have -- hasn't even really started yet! :scared1: Take care of yourselves so you can take care of others (and earn points for the COW!)

Have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!

I had a bad weigh in this week. Up 4 lbs!:scared1:
I am so glad it is Friday and I have a weekend to get focused again.
I am determined to conquer my weight once and for all.
The family and work drama in my life has taken over my life and I am tired and burnt out because of it. Something has got to give!

I hope everyone has a Magical Day!!!!pixiedust:
