Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

All right, friends, I've created a Couch to 5K thread for our challenge. If you're interested, please stop by! We can talk about the training program, share successes and concerns and generally have fun becoming runners! If you're not interested, that is OK too, obviously! :)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2287151

Thanks for starting this Corrina. It will be great to have others to share my pain...err....success with!

My first time to Disney was when I was 7 or 8--back in the 70's--My mom had just had major abdomen surgery and was sooooo sick, so I remember that and I loved Space Mtn, Swiss family robinson tree house (i'm such a tomboy, lol) and frozen chocolate bananas. My next trip was high school senior year (20 years ago:eek:) and riding Space mtn with my friends

Ok so a silly question--I'm so thirsty, seriously the more water I drink, the thirstier I am... anyone have any ideas what's up? I'm going to pm my weight to luv baloo tonight, I forgot last week and I was on the naughty list:scared1:
Tomorrow night is our night at the State fair--I'm sooo not sure how I'm going to avoid deep fried oreos, they are my absolute fave fair food, well those and the bloomin onions:scared1:

I love the C25K thread--my goal (by my 40th birthday) is to run the Marathon at the world--I have two years to get my rear in gear and trained--so I've already subbed to the thread! Thanks for starting it!

Veronica

Wow! There is a lot of reading to do with this great group!

Congratulations to all BLs! YOU CAN DO IT! I'm so proud of everyone for making the commitment to get it done.

I must say I'm coming here too trying to get some inspiration for myself. I know it is not easy. One thing at a time. We will look back and realize those "things" have added up and we are making progress.
We can do it! Yes, YOU can do it!

Ever just have one of those days? I posted about it on the CB. Suffice it to say that I've had just one of the worst days so far. I almost ate in my room during lunch so I could just sit there and cry. A whole bunch of crap went down after school and I was just feeling lousy. Come back to a thread on the CB I posted on and ended up totally ganged up on, complete with a PM from a poster I have never even heard of before who felt the need to tell me just how stupid I am.

Honestly, I am starting to wonder why I even try anymore. I managed to do well by measuring out my Ben and Jerry's so I'm only eating one serving, but man. Do you ever just need to have a good cry?

How old were you on your first trip to Disneyland or DisneyWorld? And what's one (or more) of your favourite Disney memories (either at a park, cruise ship, or even just watching Disney)?
I was 3 on my first trip to WDW. I was 12 the first time I went to DL. We have lots of great family memories. My sister and I are both Disney nuts. We had an awesome time at DL and DCA Christmas 2003 - it was the first family trip that my then boyfriend (now DH!) came with us. Getting married at Disney was, of course, amazing - especially watching Illuminations. The moments that were really favorites though, were before and after the wedding. Spending time in Disney with 16 of our closest friends and family was awesome. We ate at Chef Mickey's and Chip fed ice cream to my 1-year old godson, we sang along at Jellyrolls, and had an amazing time in the parks despite the downpours.

I'm frustrated that I didn't get in my planned workout or relaxation this afternoon. Since I've been working late and weekends (unpaid), my boss was giving me this afternoon off as a "freebie". Well, work came up and I didn't get to leave early at all. Very disappointed that my me time plans were dashed. :sad2: DH worked late tonight, so it was just me and DD who didn't get a nap today. She really wasn't too badly behaved, but everything was frustrating me. I haven't had a really good workout in over a week. I've taken short walks and some light strength training, but not enough. Not having any time off is really getting to me tonight. *sigh* Tomorrow is another day - and I'm sure it will be better.

Eeyores Buteerfly and Princess Bride- Indeed tomorrow is a new day- and well, that happens in about 6 minutes according to my clock. Here's to a fresh start!

Family lore says that I was around 18 months on my first trip to the MK, and my dad was holding me in the stretch room of the Haunted House. Supposedly, just as the mood was dim and scary I yelled "Daddy I wanna go home I go pee pee in my pants" and it made it more of a humorous ride for some folks.

My best memory- wow- I have been tons of time like many of you. Probably taking a picture of my eldest DD in the Liberty Tree Tavern at 7 months old with Mickey (25 years later from the previous adventure). I will have to post the picture when I have the chance. We just stopped in for a bite and the food looked good. We had a totally unexpected character dinner with all the headliners- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Tigger.

Disney is awesome as a kid- and even better as you share it with your children- and that was my first time of being a Disney parent.

As someone who knows you (from these boards) I personally have a lot of respect for you. The world is full of stupid people.(and you're not one of them) Let's just leave it at that.

Hi folks! I got swamped at work today, I'm fighting off a cold that DD7 brought home from school last week. DH came down with it bad, so its been a crazy day. I finally got on here this evening, and really enjoyed reading everybody's memories. Thanks to everybody for sharing!:thumbsup2 I really enjoyed the pictures some of you shared as well!:woohoo:

:welcome: to JanuaryF! There's lots of Canadians in this round:cool1:

anut4disney - thanks for sharing the smart snack options!:thumbsup2

wildfan1473 - way to go on trying a new exercise class!:yay:

tigger813 - hope your stomach feels better tomorrow. Feel free to leave your weigh in until Saturday if you aren't feeling well! :flower3:

calypso*a*go-go - thanks for sharing those top 10 tips!:thumbsup2

stitch1986 - I'm glad you reposted your question, and hope some of the answers were helpful. :goodvibes

goldcupmom - sorry to hear there was no solutions to the hives problem, and congrats on the spirometry test!:thumbsup2

Tiger Lily 03 - Fantastic attitude! all the little things do add up!:goodvibes

Eeyores Butterfly - Hang in there! It will get better :goodvibes And yes, sometimes a good cry actually makes things feel better. When I feel completely miserable, I will go have a warm shower and have a cry in there. Gets it out of my system, and I don't look horrible afterwards.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I definitely feel better after a good cry. Don't let those people get you down. Forget about them. The plus to a good cry, is you can't eat while you are crying. Hang in there.

Good morning everyone! Just had a minute then I'm heading to work early. I am down 2.6 pounds today!! I'm very happy and pumped to keep going in the same direction. Thanks to you all here for the support and inspiration, and for the wii fit for making me want to exercise!

Good luck with all your weighins today!! I'll be back later to read all about your successes!! Have a wonderful day!:)

Whoops. sorry molli. You're probably now where near the menopause age

:goodvibes i figured you meant someone else... i have trouble keeping everyone straight too! no worries.....and for the record I'm 37 :thumbsup2

and CYBER HIGH FIVE! what a great week you had!!

Ok so a silly question--I'm so thirsty, seriously the more water I drink, the thirstier I am... anyone have any ideas what's up?

I have been feeling the same, at work we just did annual "Know your numbers" labs and a fasting sugar is part of that, which I'm anxiously awaiting as I know thirst can be early sign of diabetes. i'm probally not but ido have family history

Ever just have one of those days?

 Jessi and I for one think you are a fantastic person! I have always avoided the CB mostly for that reason, rude folks. Amazing how rude and curt one can be when speaking anomynously. Have you heard the quote "If God takes you to it, He'll see you through it" keep the faith :flower3:

today i'm a maintainer....to be expected when i have a week where i'm not giving 100% or even 75%.

a great BIG WHOOP WHOOP!! party: to this week's losers......

Good morning everyone!! I'm the new Coach this week!!

Thanks Shannon for being a terrific coach this past week :)

I'm getting ready for work so only have a second, but I wanted to come on and say Hi :)

I'll be back on when I get to work to give you the QOTD.

Have a happy healthy Friday everyone!

:grouphug: I agree with what others have said...stay away from the cb!! come here to vent.:hippie: Jessie - I worked last year as an aide for a sp. ed. class, 8th graders and girl - you are an angel.:littleangel: There were many days when I was in tears, and I did not go back to it this year. These kids need help and special assistance, and so many of them are great one-on-one but the resources just aren't there. Individually, I really liked all the kids, but put them together and it was too much for me. You have my complete respect and admiration, I know it's tough physically and emotionally, and you don't any breaks at all. I'm sorry you had such a bad day - here's to a better Friday... :flower3:

Thank you MelanieC for being our coach this week and thanks again to LuvBaloo for coaching last week! You guys are the best!

Please remember to PM your weigh-in info to LuvBaloo and COW points to donac today. Good luck everyone! I hope everyone sees some good numbers! :thumbsup2

Nah! It's not the naughty list, it's just a friendly reminder for folks who might have forgotten to send their info. :hippie:

I think that sometimes when you start drinking water, especially when you haven't as much before, that your body adjusts to being better hydrated by wanting more water to store in case it "dries up" again. Also, if you are exercising more and your body is burning more calories it may need more water so you get thirsty. It is good to be aware of your intake and what your body needs in case your body is trying to tell you something.

As some of you know, I like a lot the information and quotes that I receive from www.sparkpeople.com I thought this was a good thing to remember:

Sweet, sour, bitter and pungent. All must be tasted. Chinese proverb.

All things pass eventually

Have you ever heard the concept of "seasons" in life? It refers to an idea that nothing in life lasts forever, and with time, all things change. Do you feel like your life is in an unhappy state? Are you stuck in a rut? It will pass! Sadly, this also applies to the good times as well. The elation of a promotion, the excitement of a new relationship--all will fade with time. Think creatively about how to maximize the sweet times and minimize the sour ones.

Jessi, I was wondering if there are any parent or student teacher volunteers that you could recruit for your classroom. I realize they would have to have specialized training. It's hard the first week or two at any new job -- your job is very challenging but I am sure can be very rewarding, too. Here's some pixiedust: for you that things improve!

Have a great OP day all!

Sorry donac I sent you both stats. I will correct. I did pretty good considering I didn't exercise one bit. I was down 2.2 lbs. Probably due to the increased water intake, but my weight was all over the place during the week. I hope to start walking/running this week. I think stepping on the scale daily again has helped me. I can equate my food intake to the scale numbers. Just helps guide me. I know some people might not like the scale method but it works for me.

Good luck to all with today and future weigh-in's

I sent you my weigh in already, actually twice since I typed 10 pounds higher than I actually was the first time! I went to bed early last night hoping that would help. I will PM you again tomorrow if my stomach is better. Trying to drink my water and had a Fiber one bar. We think there has been something going around our house this week as DH and DD1 have also had tummy problems this week. Thanks for the encouragement!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I think I found 2.10 lbs of it. :sad2:

I don't know if it's because I wasn't really eating while dh was sick and now am eating a little more, or because I have had the gkids this week and have been eating with them or just I'm not trying as hard as I need to. It's probably the last one, hopefully I will do much better next week.

Thanks again Luvaboo for being this weeks coach and to MelanieC for being our new coach. Hopefully next week I can make you proud.

Good luck everyone.

I'm so sorry you've had so much crap thrown at you. You don't deserve it at all. Stay away from those bullies over on the CB. I do like to check things out over there occasionally, but things seem to get mean quickly, so I make my visits brief and infrequent.

I've been substitute teaching for 5 years now and have done some work with special ed I don't know how you or anyone does it day after day after day. It can be SO TOUGH. I know it can also be rewarding, but MAN ALIVE, the challenges are HUGE sometimes. And no matter what they say, administration doesn't always get it. And then sometimes you get parents who just don't support you! You definitely need some "me" time this weekend. Have a good cry, vent to a friend or co-worker who may understand, and then relax and take care of yourself this weekend. You deserve it. Hugs to you from a cyber-friend....

I'm frustrated that I didn't get in my planned workout or relaxation this afternoon. Since I've been working late and weekends (unpaid), my boss was giving me this afternoon off as a "freebie". Yes, tomorrow is another day. But you've done well if you have gotten in some walks and weight training. And talk to your boss... make him/her understand that you didn't get your afternoon and you want to take it another time. Don't give up on it... you need that time. Why should you work many unpaid hours for your company (unless you're the owner)? SOMEONE is benefitting from your charity!

Good morning everyone! Just had a minute then I'm heading to work early. I am down 2.6 pounds today!! I'm very happy and pumped to keep going in the same direction. Thanks to you all here for the support and inspiration, and for the wii fit for making me want to exercise!

Woohoo to you on the weight loss! You certainly deserve it. Keep that happy feeling and make this week another great one!

Nice job on the 2.2.... I'm envious! :woohoo: Good luck with starting the walking/running this week. Be sure you have good footwear so you don't end up injured.

Well... despite a great week OP and adequate exercise (at least 30 minutes a day 5 days this week) I only saw a modest loss on the scale. But at least it is a step in the right direction.

My mom keeps trying to tell me that maybe my body has found its comfortable weight and I should listen... but I disagree. But I certainly have been hovering within this same 4-ish pounds for MONTHS now!! It's not really a plateau because I go up and down within those 4 pounds... but I just can't seem to break that lower level. I've ramped up my workouts for the last few days in an attempt to lose more, but obviously it didn't help much today. But I will keep it up a few more weeks to see if I can see some results.

I made some breakfast cookies today (from a recipe I made up). I made them a few months ago to use up some Go-Lean cereal but haven't made them since. Well, I made them today using FiberOne and Crunchy corn bran instead of the Go-Lean and they were just as good (plus I eliminated the oil I used in the original recipe). The ingredient list is long, but they don't take long to make. I did put Splenda () in them (along with real sugar), but I think they are too sweet and I plan to eliminate the Splenda on the next batch (I know it is bad for me, but I rarely consume it). If anyone is interested in the recipe, I would be happy to share it. They are Pamela'S apple cinnamon breakfast cookies. Today's recipe worked up to be 1.3 pts per cookie (sorry but I don't have the calorie information). I put Benefiber in them to ramp up the fiber, but I probably didn't need it today because of the FiberOne cereal. They are very moist... almost like a muffin top rather than a cookie, but great if you are craving a breakfast pastry with your coffee. I plan on putting most of them in the freezer for those days when I need something when I am running out the door. They don't have a lot of protein, but combining one or two cookies with some cottage cheese or lowfat cheese stick would probably be good.

MelanieC.... thanks for coaching!
Well, I'm off to report to LuvBaloo..................P
