I lost .4. A loss is a loss no matter how small. I wish I could lose bigger amounts, but I always lose 1/10 of a pound at a time. Any suggestions for breaking the cycle?!

Everyone is doing so well. I am pumped for this week's challenge. I love to try new things. I want to try Artichoke, but what do I do with it????

I'm down 1.5 pounds this week! I already feel better from eating right and starting to exercise agian.

Way to go everyone :cheer2: Keep up the good work!

I'm DOWN 1.6 this week!! I'm so excited and I feel great! (I'm ignoring the fact that it's probably water weight)

:cool1:

I just took the biggest loser quiz... I think I got like 3 of the questions right! Those questions were tricky!! I didn't get them right because i didn't know the right answers, lol!! there's no other reason for why I did so poorly on the quiz...

i was thinking I'd like to try artichokes too but I don't know how to... any suggestions?

I also took the quiz and only got 3 or 4 right. Oh boy.

mrsschlep - Check out the Food TV website for artichoke recipes. I've always wanted to try them also, but an chicken. Let me know how you make out.

oh, yeah, I forgot...AND we put in the garden this week. This is a great weight loss tool for me because I'm hoeing, bending, and trudging through all that dirt. By the time I get back to the house I'm so tired and dirty I just want a shower. And I put in a bigger section for my herbs which just made me crave fresh things. Did more cooking with veggies this week to clean out the freezer for all those beautiful new veggies that we'll have.

How I cook squash:
1 splash olive oil in the bottom of my pan
throw in several sliced squash (fill the pan, it cooks down)
1/4 cup of chopped onion
dash salt & pepper

put the lid on, let them cook down, stirring occasionally. Sqash cooks down a lot, you won't end up with as much as you started with.

Once it's cooked down, drain off the water. Then add 3 or 4 slices of fat-free cheese. Let it melt and stir it in.

We love this and I use it in place of potatoes, like when I make meatloaf.
I love squash casserole and this gives me the flavor without all the extra calories.

Another tip, when I chop my onion, I use a big onion and chop the whole thing. 1/4 cup chopped onion is roughly equal to 1 small onion in cooking. I use what I need, then divide the rest up in 1/4 cups, put in freezer bags and throw in the freezer. Then when I have a limited time to cook, I don't to chop onion, just grab a bag from the freezer!

That sounds great, thank you for sharing. I'm going to try this one.

I did the quiz and stunk! I only had 4 correct, apparently I don't know my stuff!:teacher:

I also just took it, and only had 4 correct. hmmmm, disturbing this is. (sorry, had a Yoda moment there) :rotfl:

I'm down 1.4 this week. Thought it might be a little more but a loss is a loss so I'm happy with it. Great job to all the other losers as well. To those that didn't see a change on the scale, as long as you saw positive changes in your lifestyle, that's the most important thing. The rest will come in time. Awesome job everyone!!! :)

I just took the quiz too and only got 2 correct! I think this is mainly because I don't eat the items they were asking about. I don't really consume much caffeine. I don't eat fast food. I don't know much about how many calories are burned by 150 pound person because I'm not 150 pounds.

I thought this was very informative however. I liked finding out the nutritional tidbits.

Well, another gain here as well, up 2 lbs.
I know I ate better this past week, more fruits and veges, less starch. I also went walking with friends in the am twice this week, and one evening worked out w/ light weights.
So, not to happy with the gain, but my joints have been achy this week, and that usually happens when I'm retaining fluids; going thru menopause and the hormones are totally out of whack.
Knowing this, and knowing that I did improve my diet and exercise this week, I'm just going to wait and see how it goes next week. :(

Well, I am here to celebrate a maintain this week! After the week I had, I was surprised not to gain. DH was in pain all weekend so I spent several late nights with him culminating in an ER visit at 12:30 Tues morning. Luckily, it seems to be an ulcer that is responding to meds so we avoided surgery on the gallstone possibility and he's doing better! However, my lack of sleep over those few days zapped my exercise energy and I ate like crap. Add to all of that TOM which didn't help. But! the last two days have been much beter. I exercised both days and am heading my eating back on track. Water intake is also up. We're headed camping this weekend so I'm looking forward to some good hiking and walking through the woods to up my exercise some more.

Congratulations to all of the big losers this week!!! Keep up the great work and all of you cruisers will be looking even better come sail date.

For the BL quiz, I got about 50% right. At least on those I got wrong I chose the 2nd place answer usually and wavers between the correct one. It was tough though as some of the answers were really close!

3) Walking: I did the 1 mile above plus 2 at Disneyland. Yes, DH & I went over there just to get some waling in.:)

I just had to comment on this from the last thread. That used to be some of my favorite exercise! My best friend lives off of Ball and Walnut. We would load the kids up in their strollers, walk to the park, hit a few rides, walk the park a little, ride a few more, and then walk home. When DD was a baby, we'd hit Fantasyland in the morning, then I'd walk the park for exercise while she napped. Not a bad way to get those steps in! :thumbsup2

I took the quiz on the Biggest Loser website. Did better than I expected with a total of 6 right. Some of them I knew the answers to, a few of them I just guessed. The new weekly challenge seems fun, looking forwad to it this week.

Well, did the BL quiz and did fairly well, got 6 right. I actually knew or could surmise the answer. I think you can't spend practically your entire life going on and off diets not to have learned something! :)

I took the biggest loser quiz and got 4 wrong. I missed a couple of them because I don't eat (or have never heard of) some of the places. I tried to guess by the item but was surprised by some of the answers. I am looking forward to this weeks challenges. I did pretty good last week. It will be interesting to find a new item in each food group!! But you never know if you will like something until you try it. You never know, maybe I will find a new favorite healthy food!!!

Good luck everyone.

Lost 2 this week. Have been walking tons. Must run though working in the yard this weekend. We just moved into a newly constructed home with a beautiful lanscape of DIRT!!!!!
Hang tough this weekend, it is the HARDEST part of the week.

week ends are the hardest for me also. hang in there. remember to PM me with your weight # not just the difference.

Thanks and good luck all.

Some of you are giving me your challenge points. Please send those to Raenstoirm. Thanks,

I am down 1lb from last week.
I prefer to lose my weight slow, so I am totally fine with this:thumbsup2 I have found that the slower I lose the weight, the slower I put it back on when I'm not watching what I eat as much (holidays and vacations).

I didn't work out today due to me leaving earlier for work so I could make a delivery (for those that don't know, I own a custom picture frame store in my town). I'm not going to work out tomorrow either, because it's my DD's First Communion and I going to be doing that all day. Maybe tomorrow night I can take a low key 2 mile walk after all the activities are over (I don't consider that a workout, but at least I'm not sitting on my rear:rolleyes: )

I'm looking forward to starting week 2 - this has been great!!!

Have a good day, and good luck to all of us while we continue on this journey together
