Congrats to my buddy...been super busy I am lucky if I got to DIS once a day in the past 2 weeks. Just finished writing a renewal grant (first one) and believe it or not I lost this week. Thought for sure I had gained with the all of the computer work, no around, and eating on the fly, but I managed to lose. I am hoping to get back in the swing of things now that it is mailed in! Congrats to all...:goodvibes

Amanda - way to go for getting into the 200s :cheer2:

I'm sorry to report that I'm reporting late cause couldn't get online yesterday as it was a horrible day that started with a 2 lb weight gain. I have no idea why - I haven' t been eating foods I should not eat except I have been eating a lot of salty foods. So, hopefully, it's water and I'll be getting rid of it very quickly and have a great loss to report next wek.

Hoping that my day is better today and I can catch up with you all here.

Way to go Amanda for dropping below 300!!!!!:cheer2: that is a big milestone!

congrats to all of the losers, and hugs to maintainers and gainers. This is a rollercoaster ride for sure, and as long as we keep focused we will make it to our goals!

I am pretty proud of myself. I so did not want to exercise this morning. Kids are off of school because of the windchill was -35 this morning. BRRRRR. I just wanted to sleep in! Well, I got up a bit later than usual and really didn't want to work out, but I put in my biggest loser tape and plugged in the low intensity and the high intensity workout. I only planned to see what they do on the high intensity workout, really not thinking I would do it too. Well, I DID! I didn't do all the jumping, but I kept moving and modified the movements. So I actually worked out for 1 hour today!:woohoo: It felt really good.

I had to put in the extra time, because DD and DS want to make brownies today!:rotfl: I'll have to stay clear of the brownie dough for certain.

Have a great day everyone!

I am finally down. After 2 weeks of gaining and 1 week of maintaining I am down 1/2 lb. I am still .3lbs over my starting weight but that is ok.

I am getting stronger I can tell. I am not getting nearly as winded climbing the stairs as I was at the beginning of the semester and I am lifting heavier in my upper body :) Hopefully the lbs will start to fall off.

Amanda-
:bounce: That is fantastic!!!! Congrats!!!

Good Wednesday Morning. I know I am later than normal but it has been crazy at school this week. We started exams today and with the extra grading and then end of the marking period it is always crazy. Then to top it off there is a spread in the conference room. I was pretty good. I only had an egg and a half of bagel where normally I would eat a lot more. I am now eating my yogurt, flaxseed and wheat germ and then going to have my tangerine.

I am pretty happy that I have been working out this week. It is very hard to get motivated at 4:30 in the morning. My alarm goes off at 4:22 and I need to be working out at 4:30 to be able to do what I want to do. I didn't do everything I wanted to today but dh has a meeting tonight and ds2 has a study session before his calc midterm tomorrow so I will be home alone and I think I can get some exercise in this evening, even if it is just a yoga routine.

Don't forget that the challenge ends tomorrow evening. Start tallying your points. I need to make 2 phone calls tonight and take a bubble bath and I will have finished the challenge.

Good luck to everyone else.

Congrats to all the losers this week! To the gainers and the maintainers - stay with it you are worth it!

An extra congrats to my Member Cruise buddies Annette, Amanda, Joanne and Mandy (Cobbler). :thumbsup2

so i am proud to say that i lost 2 lbs this week!!! I was happy with this becasue this is the week "my friend" comes and visits so i was thinking i was gonna gain.
Let me tell you about the crazy day here in Buffalo!!! we all wake up to winds that are 40 mhp with gust up to 81 mph!!!!!!!!! thats a catergory one hurricane force!!! ALL the schools around here were closed.... except of course for the day care that i work out. Its also snowing so its blizzard like conditions.
I'm proud to say that i did make it to the gym on my way home from work for a little over an hour. I am supossed to go back at 6:30 for my Kwando class but not sure if i'm gonna make it. The news is calling for the snow to get worse. so i might sit this class out. I feel like i should go, but don't want to put myself in any danger. SO who else is having this Crazy weather???

I was at WDW this past weekend and didn't seem to gain any weight :teeth:!

How's everybody doing today?

Here in eastern MA it is wicked windy and cold tonight. It was so warm this morning when I went to work, and we froze coming out of work tonight.

congratulations to everyone here!!! Keep up the awesome work!!:cheer2:

Oh, please stay safe! We had the cold come in yesterday with sleet and freezing rain. wind gusts to 40mph. This morning the wind chill was -35 and kids were off of school1:banana:

Crazy weather for certain!

I am feeling pretty good about myself even though I only lost 1 pound last week. I am determined to keep at it and be successful.

I have glanced at sparkpeople and am considering joining. I may need some help with my diet. I am not really hungry at different times, however, when the time does come for "something" I want it to be healthy. I do love fruits and veggies, so that is great, right.

The weather is up and down here in Michigan, right now we are on the cold side of the cold front that brought very high winds through overnight. Reportedly there was a 56 mph gust very early this morning. Also now tonight it has been announced that we are under a winter storm watch for late thursday into Friday, with "significant" snow for Friday. I bet it will be a warning before long. I hope I can get home from work Friday afternoon.

Take care all and stay warm, safe, and healty!
:cheer2:

Wow, it seems like forever since I checked in. I'm glad that I can report that I lost 2 lbs. this week, for a total of 3.5 since the start. I'm trying to exercise more frequently, mainly by using the treadmill. Since time is a factor, I've raised the incline to increase the intensity of the workout. This should help (I hope!) to jumpstart my metabolism and help me burn a few more calories.

Congratulations to all of the losers, some of you have impressive numbers to share! :thumbsup2 It is definitely motivating to see that you are doing so well! For those of you who stayed the same or gained, I'm sure that next week will be better.

After gaining last week, I was so upset but it also helped me become more determined that I was NOT going to that to happen this week. I really scrutinized every thing I ate, as well as made myself start exercising. I have set a goal of losing a lb. a week until I lose 40lbs. It seems like a reasonable goal, so I'm trying to stay focused on just the one lb. at a time! :)

Lynn:

I love sparkspeople. It helps keep me on track with my eating and it also give me exercise that i really need to start doing on a regular basis.

I guess we're lucky here in NJ--40s, a little rain, VERY windy, but overall not too bad. 35 below??? :scared1: I think I would just curl up and die!!

I'm surprised to say I'm doing very well on this challenge. Getting alot of the stuff done. I think I'm up to like 90 points--just need to make a few phone calls....

I spent the day with DD today--had to take her to the neurologist for her EEG and checkup. We always have alot of fun. We went out to lunch and had pizza in this tiny little shop, but it was pretty good! I ate my 2 slices and drank water. She chatted away about her "boyfriends", Zac Efron and an 8th grader who lives around the corner from us. LOL! When pressed, she admits that they (DD and the 8th grader) are really just friends. She's too funny. Happy to report that she has now been seizure free for 2 whole years!!:cheer2: So we are backing off the meds verrrrry sloooowwwwly. So far, so good. On the way home, she asked to stop at Dairy Queen. So I got to have a bite of her vanilla cone (I LOVE DQ). And when she had M&Ms, she gave me 7. I nibbled on them slowly and savored every bite. And yes, I wrote the ice cream AND the M&Ms on my food log!! Once home, I told her the website for Zac and she went on and showed me all the handsome pictures of him. She is too funny!

I had a salmon burger for dinner tonite. Or should I say, I TRIED to have one. It was awful! I ate about 3 bites and just couldn't do any more. So I gave up and made myself and egg-white and cheese omelet--MUCH better!! The only part of the original dinner I liked was the salad!

I heard back from my nutritionist. She said it's ok to back off on the calories if I'm gaining, but if I'm too hungry, to add back 100 calories at a time. Trust me--I'm NEVER hungry!

So I just finished folding my FIFTH load of :laundy: tonite, and I'm soon to be headed for bed. Can't wait to see the "top 10" list for the week!!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Weight Keeper speaks

Before we get down to business I'd like to address some issues I have noticed.

* lisaviolet (Lisa) asked when was our ending date for the Biggest Loser 4 challenge. poohluv2u (Karen) wondered if the challenge would run all year long. Here is what we did with BL 3. The final weigh in occurred the last night of the NBC Biggest Loser television show. BL 3 lasted 15 weeks. We had a Blue, Red and Black team for our challenge and each team started with about 35-40 participants and ended with about 10-15 members left on each team. The last week each of the three teams named their superstars for the week and also their top five for the entire challenge from their remaining participants. From each teams total top five the top three losers were named from all the participants.

WISH Biggest Loser 3 final Biggest Losers

#1 Clark-Kent 14.3% lost from the Black Team!

#2 bridgetgabbie (Robin) 13.18% lost from the Red Team

#3 DisneyChrista 9.776% lost from the Blue Team

For BL 4 right now we do not have an ending date. I believe the TV show has mentioned a finale sometime in April, I am thinking early April. What we do after that is up to us. If another BL season starts we may start up a BL 5 challenge here or we may do something different. What are your suggestions? What works for you? The purpose of this challenge is to help you meet your weight loss goals.

* Someone was also frustrated because they do not have much to lose and may not ever have the opportunity to be named a weekly superstar. Unfortunately this is the nature of the game. To have a 2% loss for the week a 150 lb person needs to lose 3 pounds. It doesn't sound like much but when you are getting closer to goal every single pound can be a struggle. To get that 2% at 200 pounds requires a 4 pound loss, a 250 pound person needs a 5 pound loss and a 300 pound person would need a 6 pound loss. If you watch the BL TV show you know the drill. It just appears to be a fact of nature that if a 150 pound person and a 300 pound person are working equally as hard the 300 pound person has the greater possibility of dropping a larger number of pounds. Of course this rule is not written in stone and not all our superstars are large women that need to lose a lot of weight. Sometimes this explanation works, sometimes it does not. I hope this does not offend anyone. These are just my personal opinions and observations. I just want those will small percentages and small losses to celebrate every victory. What you are accomplishing is just as impressive as those who are posting the large percentages. Our bodies are all different and that is a wonderful thing to be thankful for.

Those of you that are working on those last few pounds please don't get discouraged. You may not be named a superstar in our silly little challenge but you will always be a superstar to me. You have come so far, you are so close, you have worked so hard to get to where you are. Keep your chin up and remember that every single tenth of a pound is a victory and gets you closer to your goal. Now that goal clippie definitely outranks any reigning Biggest Loser clippie any day. I know you can get there and I know you will with hard work and perseverance.

Anyone else with thoughts on these matters, just chime in. Now on to the important matter at hand. Let me check my PM box first. As I was posting the announcement last week a weight was reported. I don't want to miss anyone. Even if you are late report to me anyway so I have my records current. OK PM box is all clear so here we go!

We started the week with 82 participants. 5 folks have not checked in for three weeks and have been dropped from the challenge. Of course they will be welcomed with open arms if they decide to make a report to me in the future. A total of 29 people did not check in for the week. 12 of them have missed 2 weeks, 17 have missed one week.

48 participants weighed in this week. We had 11 gains, 5 maintains, and 32 losses. This week we had a net loss of 67 pounds and a cumulative net loss of 393.1 pounds.

And now (drum roll and fanfare please)

WISH Biggest Loser challenge #4 Week 4 Superstars!!!

#10 - 1.466% mansionterror - Melissa
#9 - 1.471% Mikamah - Kathy
#8 - 1.587% PRINCESSVIJA - Vija
#7 - 1.941% larry's girl - Susan
#6 - 2.181% acourtwdw2 - Amanda
#5 - 2.299% allyphoe - Phoebe
#4 - 2.455% jakenjacksmom - Suzie
#3 - 2.561% ohMom - Molli
#2 - 2.973% mudnuri - Brandy

and now the WISH Biggest Loser challenge #4 Week 4 Biggest Loser is . . . .

Annette, you may now claim your clippie

or you can use http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/ohmom/weeklyBL.jpg

followed by the backslash IMG "". Great job again Annette!!! You have certainly earned it and you need to show it off.

Each week is a new game. I love seeing new names in the top ten each week. Keep working hard and your name can be there too. No matter what happens just remember we are striving to develop healthy habits that will benefit us for the rest of our lives. It can be hard when that/those ______ (fill in the blank with your personal food weakness) is/are calling your name but we can resist temptation. It's OK to have some _____ every so often if you work it into your food plan for the day. Just don't enjoy it EVERYDAY!

So Losers what is your goal for this week? What will you accomplish? You can do it and you are worth it!

Have a healthy day!

Oh gosh, if this BL round ends, can we PLEASE have another one?!?! I really need the support and accountability! Doesn't matter to me how it works out, but I really love all the cameraderie (sp?) on here, and don't know what I'd do without all you little rays of sunshine!!

Besides, I'm nosy. I want to know how everyone does BEYOND April!!!!!

Congratulations Annette and everyone in the Top 10. You all had GREAT weeks!! The competetion of making the top 10 keeps me motivated - but I definitely see every pound gone as a WIN!! And the comraderie of this competetion is a huge help for me. I will say I'm failing miserably at the challenges though. I made the decision not to do the first two.....but this last one I had planned on doing and I don't think I earned a single point. Well not consciously because of the challenge anyway. Hope everyone has a great day - we are getting hit with lots of snow today and they are predicting 4-9 inches accumulation. We shall see as the day goes on though because it really just started snowing and it's not sticking yet.

Congratulations to the top ten and a great big way to go Annette! I'd love to see this continue if there isn't another show right away. I love seeing how everyone else is doing and the challenges that motivate me. I haven't done well on this challenge at all, but realize every challenge doesn't work for everyone. I loved the last one because it motivated me to kick up my workout!
