Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Weight Keeper speaks
Before we get down to business I'd like to address some issues I have noticed.
* lisaviolet (Lisa) asked when was our ending date for the Biggest Loser 4 challenge. poohluv2u (Karen) wondered if the challenge would run all year long. Here is what we did with BL 3. The final weigh in occurred the last night of the NBC Biggest Loser television show. BL 3 lasted 15 weeks. We had a Blue, Red and Black team for our challenge and each team started with about 35-40 participants and ended with about 10-15 members left on each team. The last week each of the three teams named their superstars for the week and also their top five for the entire challenge from their remaining participants. From each teams total top five the top three losers were named from all the participants.
WISH Biggest Loser 3 final Biggest Losers
#1 Clark-Kent 14.3% lost from the Black Team!
#2 bridgetgabbie (Robin) 13.18% lost from the Red Team
#3 DisneyChrista 9.776% lost from the Blue Team
For BL 4 right now we do not have an ending date. I believe the TV show has mentioned a finale sometime in April, I am thinking early April. What we do after that is up to us. If another BL season starts we may start up a BL 5 challenge here or we may do something different. What are your suggestions? What works for you? The purpose of this challenge is to help you meet your weight loss goals.
* Someone was also frustrated because they do not have much to lose and may not ever have the opportunity to be named a weekly superstar. Unfortunately this is the nature of the game. To have a 2% loss for the week a 150 lb person needs to lose 3 pounds. It doesn't sound like much but when you are getting closer to goal every single pound can be a struggle. To get that 2% at 200 pounds requires a 4 pound loss, a 250 pound person needs a 5 pound loss and a 300 pound person would need a 6 pound loss. If you watch the BL TV show you know the drill. It just appears to be a fact of nature that if a 150 pound person and a 300 pound person are working equally as hard the 300 pound person has the greater possibility of dropping a larger number of pounds. Of course this rule is not written in stone and not all our superstars are large women that need to lose a lot of weight. Sometimes this explanation works, sometimes it does not. I hope this does not offend anyone. These are just my personal opinions and observations. I just want those will small percentages and small losses to celebrate every victory. What you are accomplishing is just as impressive as those who are posting the large percentages. Our bodies are all different and that is a wonderful thing to be thankful for.
Those of you that are working on those last few pounds please don't get discouraged. You may not be named a superstar in our silly little challenge but you will always be a superstar to me. You have come so far, you are so close, you have worked so hard to get to where you are. Keep your chin up and remember that every single tenth of a pound is a victory and gets you closer to your goal. Now that goal clippie definitely outranks any reigning Biggest Loser clippie any day. I know you can get there and I know you will with hard work and perseverance.
Anyone else with thoughts on these matters, just chime in. Now on to the important matter at hand. Let me check my PM box first. As I was posting the announcement last week a weight was reported. I don't want to miss anyone. Even if you are late report to me anyway so I have my records current. OK PM box is all clear so here we go!
We started the week with 82 participants. 5 folks have not checked in for three weeks and have been dropped from the challenge. Of course they will be welcomed with open arms if they decide to make a report to me in the future. A total of 29 people did not check in for the week. 12 of them have missed 2 weeks, 17 have missed one week.
48 participants weighed in this week. We had 11 gains, 5 maintains, and 32 losses. This week we had a net loss of 67 pounds and a cumulative net loss of 393.1 pounds.
And now (drum roll and fanfare please)

Each week is a new game. I love seeing new names in the top ten each week. Keep working hard and your name can be there too. No matter what happens just remember we are striving to develop healthy habits that will benefit us for the rest of our lives. It can be hard when that/those ______ (fill in the blank with your personal food weakness) is/are calling your name but we can resist temptation. It's OK to have some _____ every so often if you work it into your food plan for the day. Just don't enjoy it EVERYDAY!
So Losers what is your goal for this week? What will you accomplish? You can do it and you are worth it!
Have a healthy day!
