Biggest Loser 4 Week 10 -- CHALLENGE POSTED pg 2 post #19

I did the Nutrition Quiz for this weeks challenge. I scored 9 correct out of the 19 questions. Some of the answers I thought I knew and was wrong, and some I had no idea about. I typically just count calories and not anything else, though I do work to incorporate more fruits and veggies than I used to. This showed me I know some basics, but still have a ways to go on my nutritional knowledge.

Thanks for the challenge, ohMom!

Hello everyone,

I just sent my weight to Brenda, I maintained this week. Not real happy but satisfied that I did not gain. I keep on exercising and I feiel so good with that.

I encourage all of us, especially the losers. As far as the maintainers and gainers, this is a journey, we must contine on down the road.

Hugs to all and I really appreciate all of you!.

Well I took the Nutrition IQ test and got 8/19 right. Some I had a DUH!! reaction after seeing the correct answer. The main thing I learned is I still have a LOT to learn about nutrition.

Hope everyone is having a good night!!

I took the quiz and had 10/19. Not too bad I guess. I have learned a lot since starting this journey 2 months ago. Being young I know that I have got to make these changes forever or I will battle this for the rest of my life. It was interesting and I am glad that I did it.

I took the quiz. 16 out of 19, although I disagree with some of their premises, and thought "not enough information given" was probably the right answer to about half of them. "It depends" was a better answer for about half, too.

Down 1.4 this week. I've seen my goal twice on the scale now.

Well, I got 17 out of 19 on the quiz, but I also took it a few weeks ago. If I remember right, I got 10 out of 19 then. Apparently, there are still a few things that didn't sink in. There is a lot of great information in the quiz though! I found it very helpful.

hey guys - I have been reading but not much time to post - I am a "same" this week - I have to adjust my attitude that "the same" is okay - I am here to see the numbers go down! I think part of it is the winter "blahs" I really do "feel" so much better when the sun is out!

Melc - glad your here - you have a plan and I foresee the "new" you - hang in there.

Congrats to all you are really working their plans and for those of us who are "limping" here's some :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to stand up straight and tall and time to take big "leaps" forward

Molli thanks for the challenge, too:yay:

:grouphug: to all and make it it a good day- YOU are WORTH IT !!!!

Had a loss this week so I am happy. While I am not losing as quickly as I did in the last BL challenge I'm still losing so I'll take it.

I went running for the first time yesterday. I've been doing the Leslie Sansone 3 mile Super Fat Burning walk and thought that I was ready, man was I wrong. I ran but found that I had to walk every couple of blocks and man I am sore today.

The good thing about that is now I have a goal to run all the way around the development without stopping which is about 1.5 miles. Ultimately I'd like to do 2 circuits.

The bad thing about that is that I really thought after doing the Leslie Sansone DVD for the last 2 months that I was in better shape than I really am. The DVD I was doing combines her walking program with weights and I had stepped that up by doing the whole DVD with weights (she does 1/2) and walking faster than they do in the DVD. While it seemed that I was exercising hard and getting a great workout, walking in place is not the same exercise as walking around outside. That may also explain why I am not losing as quickly this time, since I was walking outside every day during the last challenge.

I just took the quiz too and I had 10 out of 19. I have to agree with ally, not enough information was given. If I had more info I could have gotten more right.

Good Wednesday Morning I woke up at 4 this morning to a terrible rain and wind storm. It calmed down by the time I had to leave for work but it looks very dark and gloomy this morning. Can't complain though spring is in the air (even if they are predicting 30's for SUnday) My daffodils are blooming in my yard.

The challenge looks like a lot of fun this week. I have my little book out to journal my food. I have already added flaxseed to my oatmeal and took some to add to my yogurt at lunch.

When I get a chance this afternoon I will look up a good recipe to use tonight for something that was in my freezer.

I took care of one of my problems last night. I called the scoutmaster and talked to him about how he said that I should look for a new one since he didn't know where he would be in the next year. I then told him that someone had stepped forward to with an interest. He was a lot happier about it than I thought he was going to be. He is even willing to stay on as an assistant scoumaster. So one problem down.

I have one last night off before the play starts again. Then 4 shows this weekend. If it is not too windy tonight I should be able to get a good night's sleep.

Congrats to all the losers this week. :grouphug: :grouphug: to all the people who gained or stayed the same. Keep working at it. You can do it.

Have a magical losing day pixiedust: pixiedust:

Took the quiz and got 12 our of the 19 right. I agree that there wasn't enough information on some of the questions but still a good learning experience.

You are a better person than me buddy, I would have stopped to shop, lol! Good for you, I can't wait to get outside and walk in the nice fresh air. Just remember that every little of exercise helps! :goodvibes

Took the quiz, also got 9. I guess I don't know much either!!!

Congrats to all you losers. I am determined to have a better week. My kids come home from college this week end, so I know there will be more junk around. I have to keep busy!!!!!

I got 13 right. I really should have done better as I subscribe to prevention, but the ones I got wrong needed more info like the burger question. In general poultry is better than beef, and they didn't specify lean cuts of meat in the question.

I took the quiz today and got 11 correct. I agree that some more information was needed on some of the questions but it was a good learning experience if you did not know some of the facts!

I got a real hard workout last night....My toliet has been leaking for weeks now. I had my friend's brother in law come out and he said "fixed" the problem weeks ago. Well it was still leaking so I gave him a call and guess what no return call. I had my girlfriend's husband (he's a plumber for the city)come take a look last night and he said that it was never fixed right in the first place and now the floor around it was rotting! UGH! So I had to rip up my bathroom floor last night. That was a tough job. Now hopefully by this weekend I will have my bathroom back. Thank God we have a powder room in the basement and only have to use the main one for a shower. But it will be nice when I can use it fully again. What a pain! Sorry for the rant, I just had to get it off my chest.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Michele

I'm looking over the challenge and while most everything is doable for me, I am wondering about the flaxseed and wheat germ.
Having never ventured to try either of these, I'm not sure what to expect. Can anyone clue me in on what eacjh tastes like, texture, etc? Then I can have info to work with to decide which one to try this week.

Thanks!

Laura

Wheat germ and flaxseed (get it ground) are like large pepper flakes. They have a little bit of a nutty flavor. I sprinkle it into my oatmeal in the morning adn into my yogurt at lunch. Flaxseed provides much needed Omega 3's and some fiber. You could also use them in a meatloaf instead of using all bread crumbs.

I just took the nutrition quiz and I got 14 out of 19
