Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

tara really rocked it last night!!! She is just plain AWESOME! once she makes up her mind she is so determined- and bless her friend for helping her out there. They're a good team after all!

I'm kinda glad that Tara didn't hit the 100 lb. mark and set that record first. She had already had a fantastic victory that week- it was time for Kristen to shine a little. How many think Tara gave that record up voluntarily?? IF she did...... it was a really smart move!

I also liked the way Jillian pulled Tara aside after the challenge and gave her the thumbs up.... I thought that was a touching moment.

Me me me!

She totally did. Water loaded a bit so she'll have another smackdown of a week next week. Not a fan of water loading here, but I am a big fan of Tara and Mike too.

Ron has slowly lost my respect throughout the season. how he is still there is just a mystery to me.

WHEN O' WHEN will they have the makeover show??? I'm not sure how much longer I can look at scruffy guys or Filipe's fro!

Sione totally deserved that loss. And did you see the way he just gave up and didn't even finish 2nd? Loser.

And Aubrey might consider just shutting the mouth and working on her own performance.

You took the words right out of my mouth!!! :worship:

I was cheering when Tara won. And yea, I get why they loaded her up with the weights.

And oh I so wanted Felipe to go home!!! Although I don't care for Aubrey either.

Why they didn't can Felipe was so dumb!!!:sad2:

So....who thinks Tara waterloaded? I do. The shock of not losing to the 100lb mark is not like her, you know?

However that being said she is who I am cheering for. Go Tara!:cheer2:

I think Tara water loaded too (and I probably would have picked Filipe over Aubrey- but both of them grate my nerves!!)

I also liked the way Jillian pulled Tara aside after the challenge and gave her the thumbs up.... I thought that was a touching moment.

Me too!! :goodvibes

I wish they would tell us why some contestants dont particpate in the challenge.
Why were Laura and Kristin sitting out the car pulling challenge?
They did even show Laura during part 1 when they were dividing out their weight to other players.

Me too!! Hey producers- we are NOT dumb- we notice EVERYTHING!!! :rolleyes1

I am not a big Tara fan, but I really felt bad for her last night. Made me hate Ron even more too.

Go Mike!! (Finally- I have someone to cheer for!!!)

Can't wait to see who comes back next week!!! popcorn::

(Now I am off to Sam's Club for some Brita filters and Jennie O turkey loins...)

I usually agree with the majority of comments on message boards when discussing these reality shows, but I'm on my own on this one! LOL

First, I do give Tara A LOT of credit for that car challenge. What amazing determination. I could learn a lot from her. That said, sometimes her attitude drives me nuts. That silly temper tantrum about quitting the show made no sense to me. While I can sort of see why she'd get upset about getting all the weight in the challenge from everyone, I REALLY think she should have looked at it as a real confidence boost. She IS a threat so it just made sense to me that the other contestants would give her the weight. :confused3 It had NOTHING to do with her personally.

I also really like Sione and Kristen. I was disappointed at Sione's performance in the challenge, but basically I like who he is and how hard he tries. I was thrilled for Kristen's 100lb weightloss too.

I like Mike a lot too. I'm not a big fan of Ron, but I don't dislike him the way many people do. I think he is playing the game, while keeping his son's safety in his mind at all times. I was really sad to see the struggles Aubrey went through after returning home. I really hope she can work out some child care or something so she has some time to herself to exercise. Maybe she could do some exercise WITH the kids?

Bottom line - I'm routing for Mike, Sione & Kristen.
Mixed towards Tara
Indifferent towards Ron, Laura & Helen

These thoughts may change at any time! LOL

I dislike Tara. I get the vibe that she feels like everyone should feel sorry for her. They are all having a hard time, if it were so easy they wouldn't be on the show. As far as them all putting the weight on her, I am sure she would have done that if someone else kept getting immunity. She seems like a whiner.
I also think they voted the wrong person out.

I think it absolutely was personal, the same as losing $10,000 the week before was purely personal. If it were merely gameplay, Sione would have gotten as much weight as she did, in order for the second tier contestants to have a shot at immunity. Instead, he got almost no more weight put on his scale than what Tara personally gave him. So all those people were saying "We aren't even trying to win ourselves (by handicapping both top players) -- we want Sione to win and you to lose." How do you not take that personally?

I think people forget about the stress she has been under. She was single handedly carrying her team after Dane left. For weeks she was the one who would go home if her team lost and for weeks only losing 8-11 lbs a week gave her team the victory while many of her teammates lost 2-3 lbs (and didn't care that much because even if they lost, they would simply have booted Tara the big threat). People talk about her having a tantrum -- if asking to be left alone and taking a walk is a tantrum, it's about as mature a tantrum as you can get!

Fair enough. I see what you're saying for sure. But I still don't see it as personal, just different team gameplay. I think the game is truly divided between the two teams. Bob's team was definitely gunning for Tara. No question. But I'd bet that if you asked Kristen or Sione if they disliked Tara as a person, they'd both say no. They just consider her to be a major threat in the game. Jillian's team used a different strategy in the challenge and didn't give Sione all the weight. Who did Helen and Laura give their weights to, do you know? I can't remember.

Gameplay? Sure! But it I can absolutely understand how one might take it personally. It still hurts t be ganged up on...even by people who love/like you. How quickly everyone forgot what it's like to be the fat kid being ganged up on on the playground.

There's nothing worse than being the fat kid ganged up on for sure. I couldn't agree more. It's just that in this case, I think it's the exact opposite. For once, Tara is actually looked at as a physical threat. People are afraid of her and think they can't beat her. What a big confidence boost that could be for her! No fat kid on the playground this time! I guess it's all in your perspective. :)

Very true, but that old way of thinking, for Tara, is probably still there. Old habits die hard. Which is why it was so great that LAURA stepped up to the plate and set Tara straight. And it worked like a charm. Tara DID eventually realize that the ganging up on her was because of her prowess, and not "meant" as an insult.

I agree. I was totally impressed with Laura and how she stepped up to the plate. She's never really been on my radar until now, so it's nice to see her really boost Tara's spirits.

Has anyone ever come up with actual numbers of success stories vs failures, as a %...?

I love this show, I have weight to lose, and I find myself fantasizing I could go to a bootcamp run by Bob and Jill.

Than I see guys like season 1 winner (whose name escapes me...Kevin?), Erik, and others being almost as big as before. Even worse, clearly Aubrey will not make it. She may slim down for the finale, but watch her 6 months later.

I am thinking this is really like drug addiction, where less than 5% of people who go thru detox stay clean. Overweight people just go right back. I just think that should be addressed more often.

JMHO

wonderfully put!!

I think that's where her partner came in at a wonderful time...to help her see that it wasn't an insult.

Tara wasn't a fat kid, so I don't think she carries those scars.

it doesn't matter what or when you were teased for....you still can have a hard time dealing with any perceived slight.

I love Tara!:cheer2: I can understand her initial frustration after having lost the money challenge the previous week due to other people's cookie eating. I love watching her transform. I bet she is a real knockout at the finale. I'm hoping the final 3 are Tara, Mike, & Kristen.

I wish Filipe was sent home (even though I don't like Aubrey either). He got his precious "blue" shirt and Bob back and still could not perfrom.

I didn't care for Ron's comment about Mike's stupid mistake because he's young. I'm glad to see Mike on a different team than dad. I think this show is not only helping Mike's weight but it's helping him mentality strong and independence.

I agree. I think Mike put himself on Jillian's team on purpose.

He knew that Felipe and Sione are Bob's "golden boys" and I think he was very smart with his decision.

Coin toss....yea right. That was for his dad as an excuse because his dad is a jerk.

yeah. I don't even think her issue was so much the weight that was put on her table. It was the way they were are giggling and mocking her. It got to her and upset her.
