Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

Thanks momrek06. :)

I sing all the time anyway..if the aliens were scanning my thoughts they'd wonder if they stumbled onto a radio station.:lmao: And I have quite a variety of music on SansaClaus (my MP3 player). So this morning's concert included Barry Manilow, Hilary Duff, the theme from "Growing Pains", Ray Charles and Garth Brooks.:lmao:

:lmao: That is quite the cornucopia of music.

Hey, at least you were working out! Good job!

Pssst, Kar - B is going to try to bring some of that 80 degree weather back with him. It is 21 here right now at 3pm. BLECH!

The "singing" tip..yeah that was a stretch! Can you see people at the gym on their treadmills, singing? Ummm..not gonna happen! :lmao:

And if it's such a great tip, why have we NEVER seen him make the contestants sing during their workouts???

As for the hotdog eating... I think that was all a setup. Why was he meeting up with family at such a strange place. I'll have to go back and check on tivo, but didn't it just show one bite out of the hotdog? Or was the whole second hotdog gone? I swear they (BL) does that kind of stuff just to get a "shocking" clip...

Yup, the complex offers Pilates and Yoga and Body Conditioning classes. I tried Yoga and LOVE IT and I tried Pilates and that is HARD! Have not done the Body Conditioning classes yet. It really is a fab service here to all the residents. I am looking for simple exercises with weights to build up and tone my arms and legs!! :goodvibes

You say you are doing aerobic exercises? What kind? You can include free weights into those exercises.

I have taken step classes that do a combo of Pilates, weights, and meditation.

It was a local community complex that you could sign up for individual classes. Oh that was so great. I miss it.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM!! When you win immunity you :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 right before the weigh-in!! Expect Tara to have a very nice weight loss next week! LOL! Seriosly, though, how can anyone stand there through the whole weigh-in with that much water in their bladder! :scared1:

Well, there is a danger in that thinking. If you gain weight, you lose your immunity. So on week 2, when weight losses are usually small, it is a risky move.

I don't think you lose your immunity if you gain weight. Has that happened before. I didn't watch the first few seasons.

My favoritre site:
http://exercise.about.com/cs/exerciseworkouts/a/weight101_2.htm

If you click on each body part you want to work, it will take you to a bunch of exercises, including illustrations.

Thanks so much, bbp!! I have been reading what you linked here!!! :thumbsup2

KEL, KEL!!! :yay: I quoted your post from yesterday a few pages back....I was wondering what you meant.....SOOOO is B here in CALLY??? Yup, he must be loving this weather. :sunny: Just talked to DSon in MA and he said it is bone chilling cold. :cold:

Cardio, TMM, I do all cardio. I use the treadmill and elliptical. I feel I should do some weight training as all fitness personnel are constantly talking about using weights AS WELL AS cardio. Actually, I am pretty proud of myself....I am now officially doing 12 minute miles. :yay: I was at 15 minutes for so long but in this last 10 days I have been at 12 and one day I actually reached a mile in 10 minutes!!!! :goodvibes

YEP, B is in Ontario, California right now. :( I miss him. He will be home tomorrow nite though.

KAR! That is FAB that you are running like that. GO YOU! What an inspiration!!!!!!!!!!

I need to go to PT for my torn rotator cuff but have been putting it off b/c of having to find someone to watch Mason. Running is excruciating b/c I can't move my right arm. I'm jealous - I need to run like you!!

Ahhh...Kel, ya, that can be so painful!! :sad1: Oh, Kel, if I was closer I would LOVE to take care of baby Mason!!!! :yay: Aunty Kar to the rescue!!! ::yes::

Yes, Ontario is about an hour away! When we first moved here, my DS would say "why are they always giving us Ontario, Canada weather"....we decided to check it out and YUP, there is an Ontario, CA!!! :lmao: :lmao:

See my ticker....yup, we are all getting in shape for the BIG WEDDING!!! We are under 6 months!!! That right there is my big inspiration. But seriously, I have always been a jogger/runner.

I slack off from time to time. The week of Christmas :santa: I was a BIG no show in the gym! :rolleyes1 But I am back and with avengence towards my holiday eating. ::yes:: Watched Oprah and she even said she is getting totally back to the gym and back to weight training.

That is where I lack big time. I love watching BL and I love the "last chance w/o" the best. Every time I get on the treadmill I picture that w/o as being my "last chance w/o" and I go like a crazy lady!!!!

His friend Dave made me so mad with the hot dogs, but then again 2 dogs are probably a far cry from what he used to eat. If he ate them and got it out of his system and it stopped him from binging on them later, I am okay with that. I think he has a tough road ahead as it appears his family is just as unhealthy as he is.

I'm glad someone else noticed this too. His family knew he was coming home and why would they meet him at a Andy's.:confused3 I felt so sorry for him because I'm afraid he may not get the support at home that he needs. Did you notice that he walks in and his family looks at him and said "hey you're back set down and eat" and they are pigging out.

I vaguely remember some kind of twist for when you gain wait, but you don't lose the immunity for that particular weigh in. I think what happened is that the FOLLOWING week they subtract the weight GAIN from your weight LOSS the following week. So, if you lose 10 pounds, but gained 2 pounds the week before (probably by playing the water drinking game!), they would only credit you with an 8 pound loss. Anybody remember if that's the way it works???

Thanks Kar.:thumbsup2

If you wander over to the WISH Journals board, you'll see my WISH journal and what a struggle it's been for me to lose weight. A friend of mine donated the exercise bike to me and so far it's been a bit of a struggle to do even 20 min on that thing. But it's getting easier. :)

I watch the show for motivation too. I've been working out quite a bit the past 2 months but not really seeing results. I'm sure all the holiday food didn't help. A trainer at my gym saw that I've been going alot and has been helping me with tips. He bascially said I wasn't challenging myself enough. He then offered to give me a free training session just to try out. I thought I was with Jillian. He killed me. And it was only a 30 minute workout, all circuit training with no breaks. So I signed up for 10 more sessions!

Yes, because that would be your new weight total.

I think it was two seasons ago when the teams were obviously water loading and gaining weight when they knew that they had immunity. So, BL instituted a penalty if you gained weight that you lost your immunity. I believe Isabeau wrote about it on her blog because people were mad
I think if you consider how notorious week two is for losing weight, and realize how much Tara lost the first week - add to that that Jerry and Dan hardly lost any weight week two after losing 25 and 30 pounds, that there isn't really any clear evidence of water loading. And I bet she and Dan will both have huge numbers this week. It is just a shame that Jerry got the boot because Dan came in last in the challenge. So Jerry suffered the real penalty even though he wasn't the one who came in last in the challenge.

I don't understand "water loading." Is it just to add weight? Why? Hmmmm. I'd probably pee in front of all America!

Now that I think about it, it probably was completely staged. I was all pissed at him for going near a place like that. And when he started his order with, "I'll just have a water..." which turned into fries and 2 hot dogs too...I was yelling at the TV. I bet her heard me too! :rolleyes2

Oh! And I forgot to tell y'all, I've been "belting it out" (singing) while on the tread mill....I'm TOTALLY skinny now ;)

But how much did you spend on window replacement? ;) Oh wait, that would be me, if I was singing......ok then, carry on. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know where Dan is during this episode so far?
