Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

GET WITH THE PROGRAM!! When you win immunity you :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 right before the weigh-in!! Expect Tara to have a very nice weight loss next week! LOL! Seriosly, though, how can anyone stand there through the whole weigh-in with that much water in their bladder! :scared1:

You are forgetting something!!!!! That is NOT the "official weigh in". They weigh them in on a professional scale with a doctor prior to the "public display".

That is the "show weigh in".

At least that is my understanding of the show. That is why they weigh in the order they do.

One more question - what the heck did Bob say - something like "I helped her in work outs and SOMETHING - outs. I kept replaying it and couldn't figure it out. I think he was talking to/about Joelle at the time...

It sounded like cashouts but I couldn't figure out what that would be.

Awww, congrats Alison. :cloud9:

I'll have to warn DH not to speed while he is in Cali this week so he doesn't get pulled over by the CHiPs. Kar - can my B come watch BL with you guys?

KEL, Absolutely, the TWO B's can definitely watch BL together :happytv: ...how about you, you need to get over here to CA and enjoy this FAB weather we are having....it is suppose to be 50's-60's this time of year BUT it has been 80's all week!!! :sunny:

OK, I did allot of FF last night so the only product placement I caught was when all were having their YOPLAIT yogurts!!! :goodvibes

Bob's rant.... Sheesh, that was pretty crazy!! :headache: His veins were popping out of his face, neck, arms!!

OK, BL DISer's...what the HECK happened last night??? OMG, they all looked like they were working out sooooo hard and the weight losses were SAD! :sad2:

Did anyone notice Alison kinda looked like she teared up at Jerry's weight loss? :sad1:

Joelle, not sure what or how I feel about her!!! Like Bob said there are so many people that would LOVE to be there with Jillian and him, working out and losing weight...there is no room for slackers. :headache:

Oh my goodness, I never thought about that! You are so right!!! So, they only have to "hold the water" for the time it takes to get the actual weigh-in, not stand there through everyone else's weigh in!!!

To the other poster who responded to my "what did Bob say?" question - yes, I thought it was "cash-outs" also... I have no idea what he meant!

I forgot all about the baby!!!! My 5 year old asked about why they were crying over it and then I started to cry as I explained why you want your husband with you during delivery...

I admit, the Biggest Loser is definitely a kleenek moment for me each and every week! :sad1:

You know it is week 2 and week 2 always has low numbers.....always!

Last week Black had immunity so they DRANK WATER prior to the weigh in. It really showed in their numbers this week.
That is "game play" at work for them.

Green Team had immunity so of course she is going to drink water as well.

I can't say I blame them, it is the strategy that is used all the time.

I'm glad they are showing more support for each other (giving the phone call away and helping Dan on the last part of the hill)
Joelle drove me crazy yet I know I would stop too if I thought I would throw up.. Guess I wouldn't make a very good contestant. But I don't think she was ever that close. :sad2: I feel bad for Carla if they get eliminated next week.
I knew they would vote Jerry off. He's had 62 years, Dan won't have that many if he doesn't lose weight now! I was so happy to see how better Jerry and Estella looked! looking forward to seeing them at the finale. :cloud9:

They've had that one (or 2) lb penalty before Vicki.

But that was different, if you won or your team won you could give some one #penalty. I do not recall them ever giving one to the last place person, but I could be mistaken.

I do believe this was a cause & effect of Vicki. So was the offering of the money. And I think more than Jolle was temped, That was when I thought ok she is real she is openly talking out her weaknesses.

I just found Jillian Micheal's podcast. She does a 2-hour show in LA every Sunday morning. She said on a 12/28 program that her contestants were 3 months into the BL program. So, BL probably started filming in September.

Here's how to find it on iTunes:
(1) Go to the main store, then click Podcasts.
(2) Search for "KFI" and you'll find a Podcast called "Sunday."
(3) Jillian's show is inside the Sunday section.

She's saying some interesting stuff about how she helps her contestants to make losing weight "worth it" for each one of them.

I thought Bob said 'cash outs' too and i have NO idea what that means.

That being said, I got quite a giggle out of him losing his mind over Joelle. That was kind of funny to watch the normally placid, zen Bob go bananas.

I wanted to reach through that screen and throttle Joelle though, by the end. Urgh. She's not working as hard as she can and she skated by this week..barely. Next week I don't think she'll be as lucky.

Wow..I have lots of comments! :)

This response won't be too popular, but here is what I think...

I think MOST of these people are NOT on the show to learn how to lose weight. I mean, really, how much is there to learn? You need to reduce your calorie intake and increase your exercise. There are plenty of on-line calculators to figure out exactly how many calories you burn, etc. I think by now anyone (anyone who really WANTS the info) knows that white carbs are bad, refined sugars are bad, whole grains are good, always pair a protein with a carb, etc, etc.

I think these people are looking for the MOTIVATION to lose weight. Whether it be the money or the "humiliation" factor. That is why I think that some of the contestants voted off early (in previous seasons) sometimes do as well or better than those on the ranch. Of course, the people at the ranch have the luxury of devoting their ENTIRE day to losing weight, which those at home cannot do.

You make a very interesting point with the medical tests, though. I wonder if there isn't a way for them to put the cost for at least part of those tests through the contestants' health insurance. Hmm...
I agree totally. Everyone knows what you have to do to lose weight..eat less and move more. It's a bit more complicated than that maybe, but in theory it's simple. There are many reasons why people become overweight. When people go on the show they are looking for motivation. They are looking for a totally supportive enviornment where all they have to focus on is weight loss. They don't have the same obstacles as in the real world, and that is what they were looking for. If I didn't have to worry about a job and everything else I could lose weight too. It's much harder in real life.

As for the cost, yes those tests are expensive but the cost to produce the show is so minimal compared to a weekly sitcom or drama, it's just a drop in the bucket to NBC. It would be expensive for you or I to have those tests done, but in the end, it's all absorbed in the budget..no need to make health insurance or the contestants pay for them.

I'm thinkin' I really like Tara. She has such a determined attitude in all of this- and I agree about the black team.

I like her too. Her friend Laura, she's got some issues to get through, but Tara could be the next Alli of Michelle. She's very determined.

I totally was screaming at Joelle. Seriously. I like her as a person. But, she has some serious road blocks!! However, I've had those same roadblocks :rolleyes1

Joelle's partner, Carla, who was dancing in her living room is the BEST! I loooove that she's groovin' for all America to see! :thumbsup2

Which leads me to this thought: I like HALF of everyone's teams! For example:

Orange: What the Heck? David chose HOT DOGS and FRIES???? He doesn't LIKE diet food?????How could he do that to Dan? Grrrr.

Pink: Love the mom,Helen ! The daughter, Shanon, is just plain making me

What kind of "tip" is singing? Seemed weak to me!

I agree with all yout thoughts. Seriously, I like Joelle. I think she is actually kind of funny. What I don't like is her half assing it! She needs to get it together and she seriously needs some therapy because she has reasons for her attitude. I don't know if the show works with any mental health professionals, but if so I hope she gets the help she needs. Bob could only do so much and I think he just felt like he had a good talk with her and he thought he was helping her, and she kept stopping. There is a reason why she kept stopping and he had enough of it.

The "singing" tip..yeah that was a stretch! Can you see people at the gym on their treadmills, singing? Ummm..not gonna happen! :lmao:

So far I am liking this season, a lot. I don't feel there is as much "game" going on as last year.

What do you all think of Blaine (I think that is the right name) possibly missing the birth of his baby?
I agree. I like that there is not any game playing so far. I hope that continues.

As for Blaine missing his child's birth. It's tough and I feel bad, but missing the birth is nothing compared to missing his child's life down the road.

OK, BL DISer's...what the HECK happened last night??? OMG, they all looked like they were working out sooooo hard and the weight losses were SAD! :sad2:
That's just how week 2 goes. Usually at least one person gains during week 2, so the fact that everyone lost something is a miracle.

I am so unhappy things turned out the way they did. I didn't want Jerry to go, but I am so happy he's doing so well and I can't wait to see him at the finale. I am sure he and Estella will look fabulous. Even in his progress so far, he looks so much younger!

I think Dan truly needs to be there more than anyone and I hope he doesn't let us all down.

His friend Dave made me so mad with the hot dogs, but then again 2 dogs are probably a far cry from what he used to eat. If he ate them and got it out of his system and it stopped him from binging on them later, I am okay with that. I think he has a tough road ahead as it appears his family is just as unhealthy as he is.

As for the freak out...IT WAS AWESOME!!! Bob is just so zen and all about calmness and balance and one with the earth..and I love that he lost it!! It makes him seem like a real person, for once! If I were Jillian I would have been laughing too! (Actually, I was laughing!) It was so not funny, but yet so funny at the same time!

? to you BL DISer's.....Jillian and Bob are looking so thin to me!!! Anyone else?? :confused3 Those plaid shorts on Bob were all but falling off and Jillian being pulled by Jerry, she is just sooo tiny!!!

Can you see people at the gym on their treadmills, singing?

I was singing my way through 20 min on the exercise bike out in the garage this morning. I'm sure the neighborhood enjoyed my impromptu (and slightly wheezy) concert.:lmao:

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

OT: Does anyone have a website where I can find weight lifting exercises....you know easy and simple exercises I can do at the gym. I do wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much cardio and everywhere I read says to use weights. I don't want to look like an idiot standing there!!! My gym is with our condo complex. There is no staff. There are no trainers. So I cannot ask anyone working there. It is open 24/7 with every imagineable piece of equipment. I will start with 3lbs or maybe 5lbs. TIA!!! :teeth:

Have you checked out Pilates? I would start there. It is strength and flexibilty.:thumbsup2

Yup, the complex offers Pilates and Yoga and Body Conditioning classes. I tried Yoga and LOVE IT and I tried Pilates and that is HARD! Have not done the Body Conditioning classes yet. It really is a fab service here to all the residents. I am looking for simple exercises with weights to build up and tone my arms and legs!! :goodvibes

Thanks momrek06. :)

I sing all the time anyway..if the aliens were scanning my thoughts they'd wonder if they stumbled onto a radio station.:lmao: And I have quite a variety of music on SansaClaus (my MP3 player). So this morning's concert included Barry Manilow, Hilary Duff, the theme from "Growing Pains", Ray Charles and Garth Brooks.:lmao:
