Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

I couldn't see the TV....

Who was that crying "....I wont stay here without you...we'll both go home"

BooHoo  Crybaby

I like this season better already....except for the drama queens we have seen.

I haven't picked a favorite (other than those orange boys....their dream is to have a date...:guilty: )

I agree the twist is to break up the alliances but this is the one group who NEEDS as much as time on the ranch as possible.

Place your bets now. How long until the black team is a blubbering mess? It's always the macho guys that seem to have the most ridiculous breakdowns when it's time to make big decisions.

I swear exercise raises estrogen levels.

That Body Bugg is quite expensive (up to $400); plus you have to pay a monthly fee (on a monthly basis around $30.00). I think I'll just 'guess' how many calories I'm burning.

Once again, The Biggest Loser has moved further away from its original concept. The first two seasons were so inspirational, watching people change their lives around for the better. Remember? At the weigh-ins they would applaud each other's weight loss. The common refrain was "I'm not doing this for the money; I'm doing this for my family". We all felt sad to see anyone have to go home.

Now, two bloated hours of product placement and idiotic twists. Hey guys, where's your water bottles? Forgot them? Then come over here and I'll fix you up with this $30.00 Ultra Plastic Water Bottle! Don't forget to eat raw veggies, which taste so much better if you first stick them into this plastic Glad Baggie and stick it inside this Kenmore microwave for 45 seconds according to my Timex watch!

I thoroughly agree with those who have said that sending those nine people home, after just a week at the ranch, is stupid to the extreme. I would rather have watched the couples fight together to lose weight; to encourage each other, etc. Seems odd to bring in the 'heaviest group ever', point out their various health problems, tell us how these people could never lose weight on their own at home, and then send them back home. 7 days is not enough time. Psychologists have long said that it takes 21 days to break a habit (smoking, etc), or make a habit (such as walking every day).

I would rather they do single players like the first seasons. Especially if they send half the team home anyway. I don't care for the gimmicks they come up with, not to mention the product placements:rotfl:

does anyone know how to calculate % lost. dh and I want to take off our holiday (okay, our fall and holiday) weight and decided to start a contest with each other. :)

I think we are going to see more and more product placements in allot of shows ::yes::....with all of us owning TIVO's and DVR's and fastforwarding through commercials (at a high rate of speed = me = :teeth:) these products are being missed by those viewers; SOOO why not incorporate them into the show! :headache:

Weight Lost divided by Starting Weight (or Previous Weight, if you prefer) equals your % Lost.

For example, if a person loses 10 pounds (Weight Lost = 10 pounds) and they started at 200 pounds (Starting Weight = 200 pounds), their percentage lost would be 5% (10/200 = .05 or 5%).

I'm new to this thread but not to the show. I also didn't like the twist. This show is supposed to try and help people, so help them. Don't try and add drama for a ratings ploy. I also didn't understand how some of them were saying it was a good thing, they can prove they can do it at home on their own...if they could, why did they need to go on the show then?
I'm voting for the old guy. I want to see him get healthy!

You could always get a heart rate monitor instead. A good one might be a bit pricey, but not as much as the body bug and there is no monthly fee. Jillian actuallys aid she prefers a HRM to the Body Bugg on her radio show.

A lot of shows are doing this pretty blatantly. Heroes had a pretty ridiculous Nissan Rogue commercial that they "snuck" in. My Own Worst Enemy was a Chevrolet commercial starring Christian Slater. Movies do it as well. Almost everything on screen is for sale. I think You've Got Mail was the first film that didn't try to hide it.

For a good laugh go on Youtube and search for Product Placement and prepare to be dazzled.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bob's comment during the intro. He stated they wanted viewers to start making lifestyle changes too. NOT to sit in front of the tv with a bowl of ice cream. I thought "oh no he reads the DIS!' :lmao:

I didn't care for whiny Laura (green) nor Carla's (gray) comment to her friend.
Still too early to root for anyone in particular. I'll root for everyone right now.

I didn't like the twist either, way too soon. I'm sure that they have something set up for those sent home, but it won't be the same as being at the ranch. :sad2:

I know! I was wondering if he could "see" me through the screen!!:lmao:
Busted!!!!:rotfl:

I'm not sure how I feel about 9 of them going home? The product placement also bothers the heck out of me! I do NOT like Green, Silver or Purple. I think I like Yellow and Orange right now, but that (as always) is subject to change and probably will.

Just a question: Do you think Jerry had an advantage that he was weighed in at the hospital (after given fluids in the ambulance and probably at the hospital)? If he was weighed after pounds of fluids, his starting number would be greater, and the water weight would come off quickly. He just lost so much weight and they never showed him doing all that much. Just curious.

*I like the orange team - I think they were 19 or so.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I think this twist of sending 9 of them home is a direct result of the Vicki/Heba Show.
I missed last season. Can someone give me a quick synopsis out Vicki/Heba and their game playing?

Not this season, but I heard Michelle fromlast season is engaged.
I liked the people so far this season, though some were hard to remember like the pink team. The silver/grey team doesn't seem like they are such GOOD friends.
I felt bad for the dad/son team. Imagine the mental toll of having surgery and looking like that, but then again imagine gaining more weight with a stomach the size of an egg.
When watching last night I felt that maybe they should start saying the height of the players. The black team looked like giants.

It's not just Biggest Loser doing this, though. It's a trend that's becoming more common. I think it has to do with the fact that so many people have DVR's and fast forward through the commercials.

Every scale is different, too. That could have had something to do with it.

I KNOW!!!! I felt so guilty!! I usually have a snack in hand while watching! :thumbsup2

Anyway, I did not like last night's 'twist' either - I didn't think it was fair. They didn't lose weight before the show on their own - why do they think they will do it now?

And I REALLY didn't like the conversation between the silver team about who was going home. Yikes. I didn't like the green team either, but everyone else was alright.
