Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

:wave2: Not an exciting day here. Using a new med for my hip and it is feeling better with no side effects so far. DH had grounded me to doing as little as possible on my feet. I keep trying to explain that it doesn't matter, it hurts when I sit, lie down, stand and walk so it just doesn't make a difference.

Board meeting tonight and a very busy weekend of taking kids to activities. We are going to see the High School musical on Saturday. Some of DD's friends are in it and her bff is on the tech crew. Should be fun.

Crazy at school since break starts on Friday. Lots of kids are leaving early so we have been balancing when they can take their tests and when we can get them printed out.

Two more days. That is what I have to keep telling my self.
Why oh why are tests scheduled right before Spring Break? The kids brains are already on break by about 2-3 days before and travel plans often do interfere. We had the same problem. We could only get flights out on Thursday afternoon so my girls missed a day and 1/2 of school and had several tests scheduled. 3rd quarter grades were due right after Spring Break so there wasn't even time to make them up. Fortunately they were able to take some early and one missed was just excused and left off of her grade.
Dh has a cold and forgot to take his medication last night and had a rotten night sleep. He only woke me up once or twice. I went to bed early so that I would be asleep before he came up. That way I knew I would get some good sleep.
DH and I have an unspoken rule that when one of us is sick we sleep apart. Usually the one that is sick goes to sleep in the Mancave because there is a recliner sofa up there so it is actually more comfortable to sleep sitting up. We both tend to pass things back and forth so we prefer to try to quarantine the sick person as much as possible.

I love to hear about the wheelchair dilema. The last time dh and I went was 6 weeks after I had bunion surgery. He said we could rent a wheelchair if I wanted one and NEVER mentioned it again. I had made it through the first 2 1/2 days with no problem. On the afternoon of the 3rd day my knee went out on me. He found me an ace bandage and we just hung out at the hotel for the rest of the evening icing my knee. Our last day we are gettting ready to go into MK and I ask him about a wheelchair. He told me we are taking the train you don't need it. Now when we remember the trip his fond memory of it is "I offered to push you in a wheelchair" and my silent thought it "YEAH RIGHT" Now that I have a real knee problem we shall see.

My bil broke his foot just before a trip and was in a wheelchair his trip. His daughter was pushing him in Epccot one afternoon. There is slight hill right near SPaceship Earth. They were the top of the crest and she gives a slight push and says "Bye dad" and my bil went down the hill not prepared to stop.
Using an ECV at Disney (or really anywhere) can be very frustrating. You really don't get to relax, you have to be constantly vigilant about what is going on around you. Even more than when driving a car because there are no rules of the road and hazards come from every direction and from high and low. But if you need it then it sure beats missing out on the time with your family and the fun of being at Disney, or the zoo or wherever else.

The best thing to do is to practice with one at Walmart or Target or the grocery store. Those ECVs are a pain to drive so if you can manage with one of them then the ones you rent will be a piece of cake. They are much easier to use. I hated using a wheelchair because my family sucks at pushing them! DD nearly threw me into a street by hitting a curb the wrong way. DH would never get me where I wanted to go and would forget that my feet stuck out and ran me into things-- since my feet are the problem that was a problem. A friend pushed me when we took the kids to a museum once but she kept getting distracted and leaving me places! I am a very independent person and I just can't handle relying on someone else to get me around.

On our trip my ECV batter was dying so while we were at the StLouis Arch I got a wheelchair and plugged in to charge for a bit. DD11 wanted to push me and she was a speed demon! And she took me to a ramp and not only let go but gave me a push first. She had a whole lot of fun scaring me to death!:rotfl:

QOTD for Thursday, April 14:
What technology/gadgets have become useful to you in your quest for a healthier lifestyle?
Other than using my computer I don't really use any gadgets. I do love that i can look up recipes on line and find things much quicker than flipping through the cookbooks I have and that I can find new ideas. And of course being able to be here and get support!

i have a 6:50am flight tomorrow morning to NC (settinsail - i went to wake forest) to see my friend! yay! can't wait for the plane ride. hahah. i have my nook and can't wait to sit and read in peace!
Have a great time! You deserve some me time. :goodvibes

All you folks with itb issues--one thing I learned during this fun injury is that you need to strengthen your gluteus medius in addition to streching your itb. And the foam roller goes along way towards loosening things up. I use the foam roller now before any exercise. My knee problem was from itbs.
What is a foam roller?

I have been back home for a week and restarted the second go-'round of P90X. The program asks you to take a "Fit Test" before doing the routines and the first time I did it (December 2010) I maybe passed two items. This test I passed every item with room to spare so something must be working.

Anyway, the vacation weight (250.8) is gone and I am now under what I weighed before vacation (248.4 currently). Good luck to the weigh-ins this week.
That is so awesome! :cheer2:

Thanks everyone for your prayers and kind thoughts regarding Caleb. It has been an emotional week and we are looking forward to begin the process of removing the tumors in his eyes.

The oncologist believes that the tumors will reduce in size 50% after each treatment and by the end of the fourth visit the size of the tumors should be only 5-10% of the original size, at which point they will laser away what remains. Final analysis is that the doctor believes he has a 90% chance of maintaining full eyesight.

What we need to be watchful of is that 10 days after each chemo treatment is when his white blood count will be at its lowest and put Caleb in danger of infection. Now I am not the "touchy-feely" type but I am a servant at heart. So Kim (DW) and I had a carpet cleaning company go in yesterday to clean and sanitize the carpet for their apartment and this weekend we will go visit them and provide a top to bottom cleaning and disinfecting job. May even get them an air filter just to do all we can to keep Caleb healthy.
That is great that he is so healthy and the doctors are so optimistic. You are being wonderfully supportive parents/grandparents. I am sure it is a huge relief to them not to have to worry about cleaning and be able to focus on him. Prayers and pixie dust for your family. :grouphug:

I promise myself everyday that I will get some scrapbooking done....never happens. Maybe that is why I NEED to sign up for crops; a place where I can actually get something accomplished!

******
Brian made it through work yesterday and had many people welcome him with open arms. He works with 1st graders and they just gave him hugs all day and told him about everything he missed. Too cute! He also went to a "Family of suicide" support group last night....ironically he felt like he was further along in the grief process than the others. I was happy that he came home happy for the first time in three weeks :lovestruc
I find the only time I get anything done is when I go to a crop! I am at the point where I am just keeping it all packed up and ready to go. :cutie:

Happy to hear that he had a good day. 1st Graders are the BEST and give the best hugs! I love subbing for that age.

Yesterday my sister made the comment "Imagine all that we could accomplish if we didn't spend our time on the computer" which got me thinking that I should set a strict time limit and then put my computer away and get things done. I made a list of everything I need to do and realized that at least half of it has to be done on the computer! So I guess I can sit here and try to get those things done.

I am starving so I need to go and get some lunch. Leftover burgers from last night. YUM.

Dave,

I think we need more DOERS in this world! What you and Kim are doing will give the gift of time to Caleb's family!! I am glad the Docs are so optimistic! Sending Prayers!

Kristi,
You look MAAArvelous!!!! Way to go! Ihave been taking pics and besides my baggy jeans, it really helps remind me how far I have come in my Weight Loss journey!

I have a funny story to share...

When my son was about 8 he had saved his $ to buy Hockey gear. Papa (my Dad) took him to buy it. It cost all he had and my Dad even gave him a few $. Afterward they went to lunch. Papa said okay Brian you can buy me lunch. Brian looked at him and said.
"Papa you know I do not have any money left. How about you pay, I say Thank you, you say You're Welcome and Everybody's Happy?"
:lmao:

It is our go to line when an argument starts over the bill!! It always ends in a friendly chuckle!!!

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and struggles and support!

I havent had time to even read the posts today but wanted to say hello.

Life is very busy as I am sure all you are dealing with it too. My dh had his last day of work today and will start his new job on monday. Nick will start at the new daycare where he will be working too. So it is a big change for all of us. I loved the teachers at his school and am so sad to be leaving but in another year he would be going to kindergarten so we would have had to say goodbye then anyway. Im not very good at goodbyes.

I think this all is giving me extreme anxiety. I have been feeling down about things but its amazing that today the sun is shining and its 68 degrees and I am feeling a better. I am hoping as the weather gets better my mood does too.

I hope you all are enjoying your day and that what may be stressing you out is not more than you can handle. You guys are so great!

Dave - Congrats on really seeing your new fitness level on the P90X. My husband is using WiiFit or WiiActive and has noticed a big change in his fitness level as well as his BMI. You should be so proud of yourself for sticking to this so faithfully. :goodvibes

What a wonderful thing you and Kim are doing for your DD and SIL, so that they can really focus their energy and time on Caleb. It is wonderful that the doctors are so optimistic. I am keeping Caleb and your family in my prayers.

Marcy - At our WW meeting this morning, the substitute leader commented on how, for many people there, it was the only outlet where they could talk to others about their efforts and their struggles. I thought again of how fortunate we are to have this community and to have a place we can come to, day or night 7 days a week and know that we'll get feedback, encouragement, kudos, and if we need it, a kick in the butt. LOL! Oh, and inspiration. Gobs and gobs of inspiration! :thumbsup2

Grrr, I know, hip pain is not fun! :headache: I'm trying my best to listen to my body through my aches and pains to head off any type of injury that might be creeping up.

Currently working on my water :drinking: , have my hill-climb walk this afternoon :headache:

Nicole - I hope your DH found the foam roller for you. How was the hill training? That is how I destroyed my knee, so I always cringe and worry when someone deliberately does hills. Be careful!

I'm with you on the t-shirt piece...I swear I lose weight and they get smaller? How is that possible?? Brian made it through work yesterday and had many people welcome him with open arms. He works with 1st graders and they just gave him hugs all day and told him about everything he missed. Too cute! He also went to a "Family of suicide" support group last night....ironically he felt like he was further along in the grief process than the others. I was happy that he came home happy for the first time in three weeks :lovestruc

I am so glad that Brian is coping pretty well, in the circumstances. Kudos to you on passing up the donuts. That's a huge "atta-girl!" moment!!! :woohoo: BTW, I am sad to report that the first place I lose when I lose weight is in the part of my body that keeps the tee shirt from pulling across my middle. ;) Sad state of affairs, really. :rotfl::rotfl:

Tracy - Good luck tonight avoiding the sundaes!! You have awesome willpower! We know you can do it!

I have to say that the ww app on my iphone. It so easy to quickly put in what I'm having then instead of 'trying to remember' later and do it.

Patty - I have to get back into using that. Right now, I am faithfully journaling in my "3 months to Barcelona" journal (now it is only 10 weeks, but you know what I mean). You can DEFINITELY achieve a lot before your cruise. Look at how great you look now!

:wave2: Not an exciting day here. Using a new med for my hip and it is feeling better with no side effects so far.

Glad you are getting some relief and no side effects. I hope that you continue to see improvement. :goodvibes

Lindsay - I hope the adjustment is easy for Nick and for DH. Glad to hear the :sunny: helped improve your mood. I hope you will soon feel lots of optimism and that your whole family will benefit from the new situations for DH and Nick. Thinking of you, sweetie, and hoping for all good things for your family.

************************

As for me, I went to my WW meeting this morning but I didn't weigh in. Even though I've been very good about what I have been eating this week, the scale was up almost 2 pounds from where it was Tuesday. :confused3 Color me confused. I decided that I might have eaten too many veggies last night since even my fingers seemed bloated. :rotfl: I am going to attend another meeting on Saturday morning and weigh in there. We had a substitute leader today and I really didn't take much from the meeting besides that we have to make ourselves a priority and put our workouts on the calendar just like we do our other commitments. Yeah, I get it. But I have a feeling that the Saturday leader is going to be very tough on us and tell us something that might cause a  lightbulb moment for me.

I have to admit that I realized something this morning. I might be eating smart and healthy, but I've been deluding myself that I am "on-plan". The plan has certain healthy guidelines that you are supposed to be following, including a certain number of dairy servings, 2 tsp of healthy oils each day, multi-vitamin, etc. I have been following all of the other guidelines but not those three.

So, I realized I can be staying within my points and exercising and journaling my little heart out but that doesn't mean I am "on-plan". The reality is that when I first started the new WW plan, it was working for me. Phenomenally well, too. Now I was about to say that it isn't working for me anymore. In fact, I am sure the plan would work for me if I would just work the plan. Yah, call that my lightbulb moment. So, I went back to adding 2 tsp EVOO to my lunchtime salad. I am taking my multi-vitamin that is on my desk right next to my water (how have I managed to avoid it so successfully?????). I have also used skim milk in my coffee today and I will make a point of drinking some milk tonight to get in my other serving.

I am still hoping to see the loss I earned on the scale on Saturday. More importantly, I am looking forward to going back to basics, following the plan, and getting these 12-13 pounds off before the cruise!

Thank you for inspiring me, you losers! :goodvibes;):lovestruc:cloud9::thumbsup2

Congrats Dave! I think that what you are doing for your family is fabulous! I would have loved to have had parents or inlaws who did half as much as you do for your family. I hope everything goes well for Caleb.:goodvibes

I've been lurking all week :surfweb: without much time to post and had been thinking how great it was that so many of you are so familiar with each other and on a first name basis. :chat:
This is such a safe place to open up and be heard by a caring and understanding group.:grouphug:

Marcy
I've said it a million times, but having the support has been the key to my success. I know I have done the work, but you all have been here for me when I need you.

Yep ::yes:: most people feel the injury in their knee first. I noticed my knee hurt a couple of days ago, nothing major, but definitely a dull pain. Right now I'm just feeling it in my hips mainly. And yes, my sis said that her athletes prefer the foam roller exercise to stretch and relieve that pain, so I went to Walmart last night (since that's what's close to my house), but no luck. I'll try Academy or Sports Authority this weekend.
Nicole :flower3:
In retrospect, I had a sore hip for a couple months, but the knee pain knocked me off my feet. The only other time I have had pain like that was during labor. I've read it's the most painful non-traumatic running injury. So, I think it's great you are heading if off before it gets to your knees.

LTS and anyone who is interested here's an article about foam rollering written by the chiropractor I go to. A foam roller is this hard foam tube that you roll your muscles over. It works great for legs because your body pushes down on the roller. And it is not soft at all! They have one now with nubs that stick up that is supposed to be better, but it looks even more painful so I'm sticking with the one I have for now.
http://www.rivercityraces.com/files/user/KSC_FoamRoll_.pdf
It can be kind of painful at first, but gets easier the longer you do it. And actually feels good on my hip now.

Lindsay-- I don't like change either. Hang in there. You need vit d for when it's cloudy and rainy. I swear it got me through the winter.

Cam--When I first started reading about your aha moment I was going to say to go easy on yourself, you have so much going on. But the more I read, the more I see it as a very positive thing and not as a beat yourself up kind of thing--I am great at beating myself up. Anyhow, just wanted to say I think you are doing great with how much you have on your plate.

****
Time to go do the foam roller before we run. Have a great evening!:goodvibes

Rose, Thank you for understanding and for encouraging me. Have a great, pain-free run! I can't wait to hear how it goes. Please be very careful. I am glad Mike will be with you to be sure you don't overdo.

OMG!!!! Just got back from Ash's school ice cream social and basket raffle! I was very good and only had a bottle of water! SO, we put raffle tickets in the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, Fun and Games, and Movie Night baskets as well as the "Sweet Tooth" basket! Well, guess which one we won!

SWEET TOOTH

3 cake mixes, 2 frostings, Twizzlers, Lindt Truffles, Ghirardelli squaresm Gum Balls, Chocolate covered raisins, other toppings, a Cupcake cookbook, a cupcake holder and stand, mixing bowl, rubber spatula, muffin/cupcake pan, etc! It's amazing! But about 10,000 calories! At least the hot fudge in it was Fat Free!!!! There were also decorating tips and pens! We'll have fun with it!

I did eat a Ghirardelli square!

Going to get up at 5:15 to do a 2 mile WATP or maybe I'll do a 3 mile! Ash needs to get up early to finish her homework so I have to work around that!

Volunteering in Izzie's class in the morning before going to work though as of now I don't have anyone. We're all going shopping together when Brian gets home. I've already printed out my pick up slip for Best Buy to get Harry Potter! SO excited to see it again tomorrow! I hope to find an Easter dress and shoes. If I don't find one at least I have another week!

Ash is requesting my presence in her room! SO...

Welcome to Healthy Habits!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Works: Each week there will be 3 Healthy Habits (HH) to complete. The first two HHs will always be drinking water and exercising. (Note: The amount and time will increase throughout the challenge!) At the end of each week, you will tally up the number of points you earned for the week and send me a private message with your total. Here’s an example. For Week 1, the 3 HHs are drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water a day, exercise a minimum of 20 minutes per day, and eat at least 3 servings of vegetables a day. If on 4 days you get in all 3 HHs, you would report your points like this:

4/6 days of drinking water
4/6 days of exercising
4/6 days of eating veggies

Your total points (ex: 12/18) AND your team name should be in the subject of your PM.

On/about Tuesday evening, I will post the week’s results. I will share the number of participants and the top scorers. New for BL 11: I will also list the people who earned 7/7 on one or more of the HHs for the week. Everyone who participates will be entered into a drawing for the week's prize. Each prize will have something to do with the 3rd Healthy Habit for the week. I will post the winner and ask that you PM me your contact information. (Please Note: If you do not wish to be entered into the drawing, please let me know in your PM. I understand people’s WISHes for privacy.)

Participation in Healthy Habits is entirely optional, but I encourage you to participate and help your team be on top for the week. Good luck on your journey and I hope that HHs helps you as much as it continues to help me!

Welcome to Health Habits Week 16

Week 16 is 4/15-4/21.

This week's 3 Healthy Habits are:
1) Drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water.
2) Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
3) Eat a total of 5 servings of fruits and veggies.

At the end of the week, please PM me your points. I will post the results on/about Tuesday.

Remember, every participant counts, regardless of the number of points you earn!

If you have any questions, please free to ask!

Evening Teams!

I didn't get a whole lot accomplished today. We went to Red Lobster for dinner and I had a 6 oz steak, a skewer of garlic shrimp, garlic scampi, baked potato, and a salad and ate every bite. I guess that's what I get for not eating all day.. Then we went to the mall and walked around. We were hunting for a pair of sandals for Alan but didn't find any. I went into Lane Bryant and got 3 tops, undergarments, and 2 pairs of capris. I'm hoping to wear the shirts to Disney.

Plans for tomorrow include getting up early and starting to tackle this house. I've gotten side tracked the last two days because my mom has called and I've been on and off the phone with her most of the day.

Tracey - I have a huge smile on my face thinking of how much fun you and the girls will have fun baking! Congrats on avoiding the sundaes!

Kristina- Dinner sounds delicious. Glad you enjoyed it. :goodvibes good luck with the house chores tomorrow

CC- thank you for doing Healthy Habits for us!!!

Rose- I hope your run went well. :cool1:

We went to dinner at Famous Dave's tonight and I did well: a cup of chicken wild rice soup and the grilled shrimp with grilled pineapple and steamed broccoli. It would have been great if I hadn't then had some of Howard's fries. :confused3. When I got home I was craving dessert and had 2 oreos and a few low fat chips and fat-free pretzels. Ugh! Tomorrow is a new day. It is journaled and done. But I hate when I blow a perfect day like that.

Have a great night, everyone!

Thanks everyone for your prayers and kind thoughts regarding Caleb. It has been an emotional week and we are looking forward to begin the process of removing the tumors in his eyes.

Physically Caleb is in great health. His blood work is perfect, and his liver and kidney functions are excellent so he is ready for treatment. The family visited the oncologist at Seattle Children's Hospital and the treatment will consist of four chemo injections. He has a catheter installed today and Monday he has an MRI for the final test. Then on Tuesday he will have three medications injected and then on Wednesday he will have the fourth. And then he waits a month before he does it again. This will go on for four treatments.

So there you are, an update in a nutshell. I will continue to keep you posted as more news is discovered.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and good thoughts. Disney friends are great.

Dave and Kim

That is a very good prognosis. I know that the next several months are going to be so very difficult for you all. My parents were fantastic when Hunter had his tumor. They spent every available minute with us, they helped me totally clean our house for post surgery, helped with meals and gave me a few minutes here and there to sleep or run an errand as Hunter was literally with someone 24/7 for several weeks as we had no idea when the next seizure would come. I even attended school with him for the few hours that he felt up to going some days. I can say without hesitation that what you are doing for Caleb and his parents is not going unnoticed and is certainly appreciated. I also think that it is probably helping you feel like your more involved which is also very important. We are praying for all of you.

I think that I'm living life in the fast lane :yay: I haven't had a moment to post in days. Between the 2 jobs and lacrosse every moment has been full. Hopefully things will slow down a bit after this weekend. I even had today and tomorrow off from training as my trainers daughter is having foot surgery. I'm putting together 2 fundraisers, one is photo buttons for parents. That one had me attending several practices to take photos of the players. I'm also making custom logo buttons with our team logo and the last name and number of the player. It will be a fantastic fundraiser as it has a great profit margin. The second won't be a huge money maker, but it has been requested since I did it last year. I'm having screenprinted T-shirts, pullover hoodies and zipper hoodies made. That means that everyone needs to email me their orders. Of course the emails have been going in both directions. I must have had over 100 emails today alone :scared1:

Nick has his first high school game tomorrow so we're really excited about that. DH even cancelled his practice for tomorrow night (he's a coach) so that he wouldn't miss Nick's first game  The coach has asked me to keep the book for the season (home games) so that is another added committment, but I'm sure I would have been at all the games anyway.

Good Friday morning teams We made it to Friday :banana:

At the end of the day I start spring break:banana::banana:

I had yoga last night. It was a great workout. My instructor has really done a lot more different moves in the last month. She went to a workshop in Feb and came back with some great new moves. She really put us through paces. At one point last night she said to us "You all look so fierce but in a good way" It makes me feel so powerful to be in a room with 12 other women being able to do these moves. We have one women in the group who has been on oxygen for 12 years and she is such an inspiration.

my3princes I remember my son's high school days. They go by so fast. Enjoy them

tigger813 I know what you mean about gift basket raffles. I have been to 2 functions in the past where I have won door prices that I didn;t put any ticket in for. Both of them were for wine and I don't drink. The group I have been sitting with started to laugh both times.

keenercam I agree that this is a great place to get some encouragement.

Rose&Mike I ussed a foamroller when I rehabed my shoulder years ago. It was a great tool to get a good stretch.

mommyof2Pirates hope your dh's new job is wonderful

lovetoscrap enjoy the musical this weekend.

HI to everyone else I missed

Have a happy and healthy day.

Another quick hello this morning, and I didn't have time to catch up on the thread yet.

Had a good day yesterday, and my short run in the morning really was the best I've felt running since the princess. I'm hoping I've got my mojo back and it sticks around.

I also had the best eating day in a long time. I only used one flex point for the day. I did journal everything for the past week!!! I do ww, the new one with 49 extra points, so other than yesterday the week was not great. I used all my 49 points up over the weekend, and then continued to eat beyond my dailies, to a total of an extra 56 points for the week. Actually maintained on the scale so far this week too, so happy with that. So this week, I plan to continue with the journalling, and actually stay within my points for a change.

How are the rest of you doing on the journalling challenge? Hope you all had a good week!:thumbsup2

Cam-thank you so much for coaching last week and for all the support. You did a great job getting over here and replying to so many of us with your busy life.

Have a fabulous friday!! :cool1:

Thank you so much to Cam for coaching this past week! Great questions! Thank you so much to Tracey for coaching this week!:goodvibes

Thank you also to CC for hosting HHs!:goodvibes Remember if you are struggling, that Healthy Habits are a great way to get back on track.

Tracey--enjoy that basket. It sounds yummy!:goodvibes

So, did the extra stuff put you over? Cause it sounds like you did great at dinner.

Deb--I'm glad you are doing ok and that job is still going well.:goodvibes

Dona--Woohoo for Spring Break!

So the run last night....I'm not sure what to think about it. I do know this is mentally wearing me out (that and everything else that's going on right now.) We walked .4 for a warmup. Then we ran 2/walked 1. My knee started tweaking at about 2 miles. It was very mild and I ran 2 more miles. Then we walked the cooldown and by the time we got to the car I was pretty uncomfortable--and very frustrated. Total distance was 6 miles. I used the foam roller and iced and the best news--it didn't wake me up last night. So, even though it felt cruddy by the end of the workout, the recovery time is much shorter. I'm back on the fence about the race. It's two weeks out. We'll see how Sunday goes. If I can't get 8-10 in I am bagging it I think. I don't want to hurt something else by overdoing it on race day. If it were any other race it would be a lot easier to just take it off. So, we'll see.

I hope everyone sees great numbers on the scale today.:goodvibes

Deb - That is wonderful, awesome, generous stuff you are undertaking for the lacrosse teams. I know that we have always appreciated tremendously the effort of other parents that made our kids' sports and band activities so enjoyable. I've always bought those photo buttons and team/band buttons and someday, I am going to get a piece of felt and a dowel and make something to put them all on to save in one place. It is so sweet that DH cancelled his practice to be at Nick's game. Someday, Nick is going to look back on these times and realize that he was always a priority to his parents. I am so glad that you are able to be so involved and that you seem to enjoy it, even if it sounds exhausting to the rest of us. Good luck to Nick and his team!

We have one women in the group who has been on oxygen for 12 years and she is such an inspiration.
....
I love hearing about your yoga class. It sounds so enriching and physically and mentally beneficial. So glad you enjoyed it and that you have such a great instructor who looks for new moves to teach.

tigger813 I know what you mean about gift basket raffles. I have been to 2 functions in the past where I have won door prices that I didn;t put any ticket in for. Both of them were for wine and I don't drink. The group I have been sitting with started to laugh both times.

LOL! Howard and I are often in the same boat. We end up donating the wine to whatever fundraiser we are attending next. Unfortunately, the many bottles we have right now will not find a new home soon - the next opportunity to donate is for Andrew's senior prom door prizes. I think they'd frown on donations of wine. :rotfl2: I wonder if our liquor store would let us trade whatever we have for bottles of Rosa Regale. It's the only wine we drink, and even then, it's a couple times a year and on Disney cruises.

Have a great spring break!!!:banana:

Had a good day yesterday, and my short run in the morning really was the best I've felt running since the princess. I'm hoping I've got my mojo back and it sticks around.

I also had the best eating day in a long time. I only used one flex point for the day. I did journal everything for the past week!!! I do ww, the new one with 49 extra points, so other than yesterday the week was not great. I used all my 49 points up over the weekend, and then continued to eat beyond my dailies, to a total of an extra 56 points for the week. How are the rest of you doing on the journalling challenge? Hope you all had a good week!:thumbsup2

Kathy!!!!!! I am so happy for you! Like Rose said, it really sounds like you've got some major mojo going! ;) Awesome job on the run and on the journaling. Yep, I agree. I told myself the first step in getting my eating under control was to journal every single ugly bite. Once I have that habit firmly in hand, I can really focus on what is going in my mouth (especially in the evenings) and control it as well as writing it. Having the journal challenge here has really helped me get the first step in hand. Thank you for inspiring me. :lovestruc

So, did the extra stuff put you over? Cause it sounds like you did great at dinner.

The extra stuff did put me over, but only by 2 points. I had to estimate on the fries and the soup and may have overestimated a bit, so maybe that's not so bad.

Rose, I am so glad that you are seeing some improvement, and I'm really glad you are being long-term smart instead of short-term ambitious about the race and will wait to see how things go before deciding whether to run it. Remember that you want to be able to run for a long time, not just for that race in 2 weeks. I am thinking of you and WISHing you continued improvement in a big, permanent way.

Well, today is off to a good start. When Howard got up to go to a 6:00 class at the Y, I got up and did a 2 mile WATP workout. Not much but at least it is something. I am continuing my effort to comply with the HG portion of the WW program. I measured a cup of skim milk into a container, used some of it for my coffee and then had Kashi Heart to Heart cereal (my current favorite cereal) in the rest of the milk at work for breakfast. So that takes care of my dairy requirement for the day, I think. Or at least it is a lot better than I had been doing. Hmmmm... I think I'd better look into eating some low-fat or fat free cheese later because the milk is probably only one serving and I am supposed to have two.

I put 2 tsp of EVOO on my salad that I brought for lunch. And I took my multi-vitamin.
I already put all of it in my journal, too, so that I don't eat my normal 29 P+ and realize I didn't account for the points that the healthy guidelines stuff takes.

Water won't be a problem. Thank God that is one habit I have firmly under control. My body actually craves water if I go even a half hour without it (you can imagine how hard it was to sit through 2 hours of court with no water. ;) )

Okay, back to work for me. Thank you so much for letting me coach this week and for encouraging me so much. I LOVED reading responses to the QOTD and hoping we'll have some people playing "catch-up" this weekend (especially on the funny kid stories/jokes QOTD -- those were SOOO cute!)

:wave2:

Your dinner sounds so yummy. I love chicken and wild rice soup.
I have found that drinking sf hot chocolate when I have that dessert craving or am feeling hungry but really shouldn't eat anything else really helps. I use skim milk (dairy serving!) and I have a Swiss Miss Diet Hot Chocolate with only 25 calories. I sip it slow to fill time and it hits that need for something sweet and chocolaty.

What a great fundraiser! Our swim team and band get professional photos of each child and the package includes a button. Unfortunately they use the same photog and I can't stand the man so I refuse to order! I can take better pictures myself with my point and shoot then he can with his so called professional equipment-- and he is an arrogant jerk.

I did a photo fundraiser with Swim Team a few years ago where my husband took his camera (nicer than my point and shoot!) and took a bunch of candids at a meet. He got some really great shots. And we have a dad that does underwater photography so he comes to one of our Friday Free Days and gets great underwater photos. I took orders for the photos and offered 4x6 and 5x7 and 8x10s and got orders for pretty much every photo. At double the price it cost me to have them printed we were able to make a little money that helped.

:cheer2: on the journaling! That is a huge step and will really help you start to focus in on staying OP. Keep going!:cheer2: And :cool1: on that mojo!

Sorry that your run didn't go the way you had hoped. I think that skipping the race is a good idea if you aren't up to it. There will always be other races and it isn't worth risking more injury if you just aren't there yet. Our bodies are really good at telling us what they need, we just have to be willing to listen!

:woohoo: for a good start to the day! Sounds like you are doing a great job.

I know what you mean about water. I have carried a water bottle with me everywhere I go for the last few years. I need to sip water constantly.

So while I sip water constantly I still have to consciously drink enough to get in a good 6-8 cups a day. I always hear that your body adjusts to that amount of water and eventually you stop going to the bathroom constantly but so far that has never happened to me! I have bladder issues anyway so I will probably never get there. Yesterday I drank about 4 cups during the day and had unsweet tea for dinner, 2 cups of coffee in the am, and left for my meeting with a glass of tea and a mug of hot chocolate. The fluids for the day hit me about the time I got there! I had to get up every 15 minutes:headache: and I am sure they all thought I was nuts!:rotfl: Was up a lot during the night too. I wanted to try to get a bunch of water in this morning so it will leave earlier but I need to go and get my allergy shots and a bday present for dd to take to a party tonight so not happening this morning.:headache:

I had a great OP day yesterday and am really happy about that. Trying to continue that today. I have all my meals planned for the next few days so that really helps. Lunch and snacks are where I tend to wander if I don't have stuff planned and ready. I had planned on 1/2 burger for 4 days because I had 2 cooked burger patties leftover from dinner Wed. night, but when I went to the refrigerator to get one yesterday the other one was GONE! DD11 had eaten it for breakfast. So now I need to be sure to mark my food. I had a steak left over last night that will be for 2 days of steak salad. It is in a bag marked MINE and I hid it in the veggie drawer under the sweet potatoes and zucchini-- my kids will NEVER look there for something to eat!:rotfl2:

Guess I better go get the chicken out to thaw for dinner and go get my shots. I forgot to go last month so not sure what they are going to do to me today.

Everyone have a great OP day!:cheer2:
