Board meeting tonight and a very busy weekend of taking kids to activities. We are going to see the High School musical on Saturday. Some of DD's friends are in it and her bff is on the tech crew. Should be fun.
Why oh why are tests scheduled right before Spring Break? The kids brains are already on break by about 2-3 days before and travel plans often do interfere. We had the same problem. We could only get flights out on Thursday afternoon so my girls missed a day and 1/2 of school and had several tests scheduled. 3rd quarter grades were due right after Spring Break so there wasn't even time to make them up. Fortunately they were able to take some early and one missed was just excused and left off of her grade.Crazy at school since break starts on Friday. Lots of kids are leaving early so we have been balancing when they can take their tests and when we can get them printed out.
Two more days. That is what I have to keep telling my self.
DH and I have an unspoken rule that when one of us is sick we sleep apart. Usually the one that is sick goes to sleep in the Mancave because there is a recliner sofa up there so it is actually more comfortable to sleep sitting up. We both tend to pass things back and forth so we prefer to try to quarantine the sick person as much as possible.Dh has a cold and forgot to take his medication last night and had a rotten night sleep. He only woke me up once or twice. I went to bed early so that I would be asleep before he came up. That way I knew I would get some good sleep.
Using an ECV at Disney (or really anywhere) can be very frustrating. You really don't get to relax, you have to be constantly vigilant about what is going on around you. Even more than when driving a car because there are no rules of the road and hazards come from every direction and from high and low. But if you need it then it sure beats missing out on the time with your family and the fun of being at Disney, or the zoo or wherever else.I love to hear about the wheelchair dilema. The last time dh and I went was 6 weeks after I had bunion surgery. He said we could rent a wheelchair if I wanted one and NEVER mentioned it again. I had made it through the first 2 1/2 days with no problem. On the afternoon of the 3rd day my knee went out on me. He found me an ace bandage and we just hung out at the hotel for the rest of the evening icing my knee. Our last day we are gettting ready to go into MK and I ask him about a wheelchair. He told me we are taking the train you don't need it. Now when we remember the trip his fond memory of it is "I offered to push you in a wheelchair" and my silent thought it "YEAH RIGHT" Now that I have a real knee problem we shall see.
My bil broke his foot just before a trip and was in a wheelchair his trip. His daughter was pushing him in Epccot one afternoon. There is slight hill right near SPaceship Earth. They were the top of the crest and she gives a slight push and says "Bye dad" and my bil went down the hill not prepared to stop.
The best thing to do is to practice with one at Walmart or Target or the grocery store. Those ECVs are a pain to drive so if you can manage with one of them then the ones you rent will be a piece of cake. They are much easier to use. I hated using a wheelchair because my family sucks at pushing them! DD nearly threw me into a street by hitting a curb the wrong way. DH would never get me where I wanted to go and would forget that my feet stuck out and ran me into things-- since my feet are the problem that was a problem. A friend pushed me when we took the kids to a museum once but she kept getting distracted and leaving me places! I am a very independent person and I just can't handle relying on someone else to get me around.
On our trip my ECV batter was dying so while we were at the StLouis Arch I got a wheelchair and plugged in to charge for a bit. DD11 wanted to push me and she was a speed demon! And she took me to a ramp and not only let go but gave me a push first.

Other than using my computer I don't really use any gadgets. I do love that i can look up recipes on line and find things much quicker than flipping through the cookbooks I have and that I can find new ideas. And of course being able to be here and get support!QOTD for Thursday, April 14:
What technology/gadgets have become useful to you in your quest for a healthier lifestyle?
Have a great time! You deserve some me time.i have a 6:50am flight tomorrow morning to NC (settinsail - i went to wake forest) to see my friend! yay! can't wait for the plane ride. hahah. i have my nook and can't wait to sit and read in peace!

What is a foam roller? All you folks with itb issues--one thing I learned during this fun injury is that you need to strengthen your gluteus medius in addition to streching your itb. And the foam roller goes along way towards loosening things up. I use the foam roller now before any exercise. My knee problem was from itbs.
That is so awesome!I have been back home for a week and restarted the second go-'round of P90X. The program asks you to take a "Fit Test" before doing the routines and the first time I did it (December 2010) I maybe passed two items. This test I passed every item with room to spare so something must be working.
Anyway, the vacation weight (250.8) is gone and I am now under what I weighed before vacation (248.4 currently). Good luck to the weigh-ins this week.

That is great that he is so healthy and the doctors are so optimistic. You are being wonderfully supportive parents/grandparents. I am sure it is a huge relief to them not to have to worry about cleaning and be able to focus on him. Prayers and pixie dust for your family. Thanks everyone for your prayers and kind thoughts regarding Caleb. It has been an emotional week and we are looking forward to begin the process of removing the tumors in his eyes.
The oncologist believes that the tumors will reduce in size 50% after each treatment and by the end of the fourth visit the size of the tumors should be only 5-10% of the original size, at which point they will laser away what remains. Final analysis is that the doctor believes he has a 90% chance of maintaining full eyesight.
What we need to be watchful of is that 10 days after each chemo treatment is when his white blood count will be at its lowest and put Caleb in danger of infection. Now I am not the "touchy-feely" type but I am a servant at heart. So Kim (DW) and I had a carpet cleaning company go in yesterday to clean and sanitize the carpet for their apartment and this weekend we will go visit them and provide a top to bottom cleaning and disinfecting job. May even get them an air filter just to do all we can to keep Caleb healthy.

I find the only time I get anything done is when I go to a crop! I am at the point where I am just keeping it all packed up and ready to go.I promise myself everyday that I will get some scrapbooking done....never happens. Maybe that is why I NEED to sign up for crops; a place where I can actually get something accomplished!

Brian made it through work yesterday and had many people welcome him with open arms. He works with 1st graders and they just gave him hugs all day and told him about everything he missed. Too cute! He also went to a "Family of suicide" support group last night....ironically he felt like he was further along in the grief process than the others. I was happy that he came home happy for the first time in three weeks![]()

Happy to hear that he had a good day. 1st Graders are the BEST and give the best hugs! I love subbing for that age.
Yesterday my sister made the comment "Imagine all that we could accomplish if we didn't spend our time on the computer" which got me thinking that I should set a strict time limit and then put my computer away and get things done. I made a list of everything I need to do and realized that at least half of it has to be done on the computer! So I guess I can sit here and try to get those things done.
I am starving so I need to go and get some lunch. Leftover burgers from last night. YUM.
