Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Cam- My nephew, who turns 19 tomorrow, got his Eagle Scout 1 1/2 years ago and I promised him a scrapbook! I have all the stuff just need the time to put it together. We have all our photos on the computers and don't print them out very often. I have a digital frame that we update every once in a while! I really need to get moving with that scrapbook!

Watching Criminal Minds, or should I say listening to it, as I'm hiding my face behind the computer monitor as it's freaking me out!

First load of laundry just finished in the washing machine so it's time to go take care of that!

Just pre-ordered Harry Potter from Best Buy so we can pick it up on Friday afternoon! So excited to see it again! Best Buy has an exclusive bonus disc that I can't wait to see what it contains.

Really not being nosy, is there a reason that you use a wheelchair instead of an ECV? (you don't have to answer if you don't want to :))

Because I have cerebral palsy and it effects my refluxes and I don't feel safe driving one. Have you read the horrible threads on this board about people bashing people who use ECVs? No thank you! :)

Understandable.:goodvibes
I am one of those people that they bash;) but I own a heavy duty flame proof suit. I love my ECV because of the freedom and independence it gives me, but it is tricky in crowds and you do need to be able to stop and start and turn quickly to avoid problems. My DH is such a terrible wheelchair pusher that I, and everyone else, are safer with me on an ECV!

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi everybody!
I dropped off the challenge because I just couldn't keep up, but I do miss seeing/reading how everybody is doing.
I'm slowly getting ready for our Disney trip, and just bought stuff for fish extenders today. I'm planning to get back on here next month.

Good Thursday morning Teams I am so glad that it is thursday. I thought it was Thursday all day yesterday so I am glad we finally made it to Thursday.

Crazy at school since break starts on Friday. Lots of kids are leaving early so we have been balancing when they can take their tests and when we can get them printed out.

Two more days. That is what I have to keep telling my self.

Dh has a cold and forgot to take his medication last night and had a rotten night sleep. He only woke me up once or twice. I went to bed early so that I would be asleep before he came up. That way I knew I would get some good sleep.

LuvBaloo HI have been missing you. How is the new house and new job? Hope things are going well for you. Stop in whenever you want.

I love to hear about the wheelchair dilema. The last time dh and I went was 6 weeks after I had bunion surgery. He said we could rent a wheelchair if I wanted one and NEVER mentioned it again. I had made it through the first 2 1/2 days with no problem. On the afternoon of the 3rd day my knee went out on me. He found me an ace bandage and we just hung out at the hotel for the rest of the evening icing my knee. Our last day we are gettting ready to go into MK and I ask him about a wheelchair. He told me we are taking the train you don't need it. Now when we remember the trip his fond memory of it is "I offered to push you in a wheelchair" and my silent thought it "YEAH RIGHT" Now that I have a real knee problem we shall see.

My bil broke his foot just before a trip and was in a wheelchair his trip. His daughter was pushing him in Epccot one afternoon. There is slight hill right near SPaceship Earth. They were the top of the crest and she gives a slight push and says "Bye dad" and my bil went down the hill not prepared to stop.

Have to go

Have a happy and healthy day.

A quick hello this morning. I need to get out for a run before work, so I figured I'd post now because I won't have time after. I didn't do any exercise the last 2 days so I want to get out this morning, and tonight ds has baseball practice.

Thanks for the laughs you all posted. Loved them. Had to share some with ds, and he howled at the winkie story.

Have a great day!!:)

oh my gaaaaahhhh! did that seriously just happen?? i just spent the last 20 min responding to all of these posts. i got up to go to the bathroom (you know, pregnancy non-stop peeing) and when i came back my computer had decided to restart and do some annoying update! gggggaaaaah!

waaaaah! so annoying. i can't go back and re-write everything now b/c i have to go make the little guy his breakfast. wah. i'll try to remember some of it though...

rose - love stevie nicks. listened to fleetwood mac ALOT during my princess training. 'sweet girl' is my favorite. totally written about me, lol.

tracey - what is the magic kingdom game??? obviously sounds FUN!

LTS - why must some moms be so terrible sometimes. my mother for my whole life has told me i'm fat (mind you she said this to me when i was in high school and weighed 125 lbs). a few years ago i ballooned up 45+ pounds (long story, insulin issues, needed medication, etc) and it took a long time to lose it. and did she ever say anything?? nope! meanwhile she was over 200lbs for a loooong time and yet i was the fat one. wow, i have issues.

dona - good luck with the last two days of school. i always remember the days before i went on vacation were always so stressful trying to get everything done and in order before i left so i wouldn't have my boss or clients constantly calling me the whole vacation

disney wedding - shame on the bad dis'ers for flaming people who use ECVs and wheelchairs who really need them. they should feel lucky they don't need to use them!

cam - i like your QOTD and am looking forward to reading what other people use! i use my iphone as my healthy gadget. i started with the C25K app and moved up from there. i used mapmymile to log my running - where, how fast, how far, etc. used it during the princess half (of course though it crapped out on my right at the START of the race!). i've also been using it on the elliptical lately to stream shows using my netflix app! gives me something to watch while i'm working out!

tipsyturle loved your story! i bet the fairy godmother will always remember your daughter amanda!

kathy - you go girl! way to get out in the morning! i always did better when i could work out in the AM. meant i got it over with! :)

lisa lol! cute squirrel! :)

that's not everyone. sorry. hi to everyone else!!!

we have a birthday party at mommy and me for a set of twins today. they are so cute. just turned 2. thomas will be happy to shove a cupcake in his mouth. i have to make sure to have a good breakfast so i'm not tempted later!

i have a 6:50am flight tomorrow morning to NC (settinsail - i went to wake forest) to see my friend! yay! can't wait for the plane ride. hahah. i have my nook and can't wait to sit and read in peace!

I've been MIA with this challenge for a few months now. I plan on joining the new challenge, can someone post the link for me. Thanks. Hopefully time will allow me to follow this one.

The new BL challenge won't start until after Memorial Day. You are welcome to jump back on here.:goodvibes

Kathy--great job on the run!

Nancy--I feel your pain on the Mom issues. That's probably the biggest thing keeping me from just saying I am done and being happy with my current weight. I realize as a 40something I need to let it go, but it's hard. It has been a good reminder to me of how not to behave around my child. Have a fabulous time in North Carolina! :)

QOTD--my ipod, our garmin, and my computer--I have tracked my weight and exercise everyday since Jan 1, 2010.:goodvibes

All you folks with itb issues--one thing I learned during this fun injury is that you need to strengthen your gluteus medius in addition to streching your itb. And the foam roller goes along way towards loosening things up. I use the foam roller now before any exercise. My knee problem was from itbs.

I hope everyone has a good day. I am working and then Mike and I are going to run at the park. I am hoping, hoping, hoping for 4 miles today. With warm-up and cooldown we will go a total of 6 if my knee cooperates. Fingers crossed.:goodvibes

Shannon - It's great to see you here. You are missed!! I hope all is wonderful in your life and I really hope you'll be around here more after your trip. Have fun!

Dona - Welcome to the much-awaited Thursday. :goodvibes I hope your day is not crazy and I hope your students can be productive.

Kathy - Way to go getting out in the morning! :cool1:You should be so proud of yourself!! Keep up the great work! So, how goes the journaling?

Nancy - Don't you just love when your computer has a mind of its own? Howard has been using the runkeeper app and really likes it. It is almost dead-on with his Garmin and I think he likes that he can post it right to his FB page. Have fun at M&M I hope you can resist the cupcakes. :) If I don't remember to say it later, I hope you enjoy your trip. Be sure to download books to your Nook before you leave home. It doesn't always work at the airport. :confused3

We'd love to have you jump back in now. :thumbsup2 No need to wait. :)

Rose - Good luck with your run today. Can I say I am jealous? :cutie:

I may not get back here until late tonight. Have a great on-plan day, my loser friends!! :grouphug:

Good morning teammates,

I have been back home for a week and restarted the second go-'round of P90X. The program asks you to take a "Fit Test" before doing the routines and the first time I did it (December 2010) I maybe passed two items. This test I passed every item with room to spare so something must be working.

Anyway, the vacation weight (250.8) is gone and I am now under what I weighed before vacation (248.4 currently). Good luck to the weigh-ins this week.

Dave

Thanks everyone for your prayers and kind thoughts regarding Caleb. It has been an emotional week and we are looking forward to begin the process of removing the tumors in his eyes.

Physically Caleb is in great health. His blood work is perfect, and his liver and kidney functions are excellent so he is ready for treatment. The family visited the oncologist at Seattle Children's Hospital and the treatment will consist of four chemo injections. He has a catheter installed today and Monday he has an MRI for the final test. Then on Tuesday he will have three medications injected and then on Wednesday he will have the fourth. And then he waits a month before he does it again. This will go on for four treatments.

The oncologist believes that the tumors will reduce in size 50% after each treatment and by the end of the fourth visit the size of the tumors should be only 5-10% of the original size, at which point they will laser away what remains. Final analysis is that the doctor believes he has a 90% chance of maintaining full eyesight.

What we need to be watchful of is that 10 days after each chemo treatment is when his white blood count will be at its lowest and put Caleb in danger of infection. Now I am not the "touchy-feely" type but I am a servant at heart. So Kim (DW) and I had a carpet cleaning company go in yesterday to clean and sanitize the carpet for their apartment and this weekend we will go visit them and provide a top to bottom cleaning and disinfecting job. May even get them an air filter just to do all we can to keep Caleb healthy.

So there you are, an update in a nutshell. I will continue to keep you posted as more news is discovered.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and good thoughts. Disney friends are great.

I've been lurking all week :surfweb: without much time to post and had been thinking how great it was that so many of you are so familiar with each other and on a first name basis. :chat:
This is such a safe place to open up and be heard by a caring and understanding group.:grouphug:

And - I had planned to post this observation even before reading Dave's post about his return from vacation weight loss success, fit challenge test success:woohoo:,
and mostly, the heart wrenching but hopeful information about his grandson.

Dave - I really hope and pray that all the procedeures you described will do just what they are suppose to. Seems like so much for a tiny new baby to go through, not to mention the parents.
Sounds like you and Kim are doing anything and everything to support them. How wonderful... although I know it's just what family does. I have been and am currently in a situation with family members where you just DO (whatever).

Hope everyone is having a good week, I will try to post again later!

Oh, another one suffering hip pain? You poor thing.

I just thought of something. My PT told me that my IT Band is very, very tight. He told me to lie flat with a stretchie band or beach towel wrapped around my foot, to slowly raise the leg to as close to 90 degrees as I can get it without pulling on it and then use the band/towel to guide my leg across the other leg, to stretch it. You can also do it going out from your other leg, if that makes sense, but you have to be careful not to pull your groin muscles.

Grrr, I know, hip pain is not fun! :headache: I'm trying my best to listen to my body through my aches and pains to head off any type of injury that might be creeping up. Thankfully it's just mildly annoying when I lay down right now. Thanks for the stretch suggestion! I think I'll give that a shot tonight!

And the foam roller goes along way towards loosening things up. I use the foam roller now before any exercise. My knee problem was from itbs.

Yep ::yes:: most people feel the injury in their knee first. I noticed my knee hurt a couple of days ago, nothing major, but definitely a dull pain. Right now I'm just feeling it in my hips mainly. And yes, my sis said that her athletes prefer the foam roller exercise to stretch and relieve that pain, so I went to Walmart last night (since that's what's close to my house), but no luck. I'll try Academy or Sports Authority this weekend.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and good thoughts.

I'm really glad you guys are staying positive  You and your family will continue to be in our prayers. And I'm sure your DD and SIL appreciate your help and encouragement more than they will ever be able to express to you and your wife  It makes me grateful to know that my parents would be doing the exact same thing for us that you and your wife are doing for you daughter during their time of need, going to the ends of the earth to get through this time. :grouphug: And we're not "touchy-feely" people either, so we would be doing the exact same thing to show our love and support, lol! How is your DD doing with all of this? I think about her often since I have a little one too.

************

Nothing much going on over here. Currently working on my water :drinking: , have my hill-climb walk this afternoon :headache:. Might pick up Subway for dinner because I am just downright exhausted :crutches: I suppose that's what happens when you stay up past your bed time trying to finish a book more than one night in a row that gives you nightmares :3dglasses I finally finished Swan Song last night and boy was that a scary book  Not a bad read though.

Have a great day everyone!

Nicole :flower3:

I promised myself I could spend at least one hour at my scrapping table today.... but if I don't get moving I won't get to it. Exercise time must come first and despite folding laundry for almost 2 hours last night, I still have one load waiting and another to go in the dryer..... does it never end??:laundy: No "play" time until that is done too. Other than that I will try to ignore the dirt and dust and grime around here!!

Suitcases come out tomorrow for Disney!!

I promise myself everyday that I will get some scrapbooking done....never happens. Maybe that is why I NEED to sign up for crops; a place where I can actually get something accomplished! No, the laundry never ends....and sometimes that lone sock never finds its mate (where the heck does it go!!)

I am sooo jellybeans (jealous) that the suitcases you are getting out are for Disney...:upsidedow Can you fit me in a suitcase??;)

QOTD---
I told my hubby last night, i know i am a tough cookie, i have handled a lot but physically and emotionally BUT there is no award for being tough all the time and there is no honor or award for suffering needlessly!!

everyone have a great day...still exhausted from the sinuses. can't sleep more than a hour at a time, have to keep rolling over to let one side of my head drain...so no gym.. hubby and i are going to a move tonight though
if i stay still and keep up on the cold & sinus meeds i can manage the post nasal cough
hubby is a corrections office who works a rotating night shift, i go to school and nanny 2-3 16hour day rotating shifts so we rarely have a day alone not going to waste it by sleeping...
the teen is babysitting so it will just be the 2 of us!

Sending you great big hugs!! I hope that you get some sleep soon and the meds are helpful!

My work clothes are getting bigger and bigger, but for some reason my weekend clothes (mostly tshirts) never fit bigger....it's very odd, but I suppose different fabrics lay differently on everyone's body :confused3 :rolleyes1 Plus, I can see and feel the beginnings of a shape in my waist :woohoo:

My hip lately has been driving me crazy. I've got the same pain in my hips when I lay down as I did when I was pregnant with DS :headache: So after searching on the internet and talking to my sister (who is an athletic trainer) we discovered I've probably strained my IT band (?). She gave me some stretches to do, one of which I've already done here at work, though I looked like a nutball , and it's already feeling much better. I put on my facebook page this afternoon that I really picked the best time in my life to start marathon training...when I've got a sister in college majoring in athletic training :rotfl: She's saving me a fortune on what I'd probably have to go to a sports therapist or chiropractor for :rotfl2: :worship: Whew, this getting older and exercising sucks  She did happen to mention that most of her track athletes have a problem with their IT band and that it's a very difficult muscle to reach during normal stretching, so thankfully it's not a big deal.
Nicole :upsidedow

I'm with you on the t-shirt piece...I swear I lose weight and they get smaller? How is that possible?? IT bands can cause such pain and lead to other things. If you don't have a foam roll, I would highly suggest it. I work out all my kinks with that roll at least once per day and I have seen such a difference! Good Luck!

QOTD for Thursday, April 14:
What technology/gadgets have become useful to you in your quest for a healthier lifestyle?

I'm turning into an electronics junkie!! I just bought a Thunderbolt from Verizon and I LOVE the 4G speed!! My apps for "wellness" are Runkeeper, Diet and Food Tracker by Sparkpeople, and Angry Birds (my mental well-being).
My Nook Color is awesome!! Reading 'Marathoning for Mortals' and 'Women's Health Magazine' at the moment (in addition to my book club books).
My heart monitor is great to track calories and works with the equipment at my gym so I don't over exert myself (like that is really possible!) :rotfl:
My Laptop - because it's where my DisBoards link is located so I can get inspiration from you all :)

i have a 6:50am flight tomorrow morning to NC (settinsail - i went to wake forest) to see my friend! yay! can't wait for the plane ride. hahah. i have my nook and can't wait to sit and read in peace!

Enjoy NC!! I'm sure it is really beautiful this time of year!!!

I hope everyone has a good day. I am working and then Mike and I are going to run at the park. I am hoping, hoping, hoping for 4 miles today. With warm-up and cooldown we will go a total of 6 if my knee cooperates. Fingers crossed.:goodvibes
Good luck on the run (with your new and improved sneakers!)

Great Job DAVE!!

Also, I am sending the prayers to you and Kim as well as Celeb!! Hang in there and take it one day at a time. My best friend is a NICU and PICU nurse and she has seen kids with the most amazing recoveries! :goodvibes

It is a BU-TI-FUL morning here in NJ :flower3: Mother Nature has heard my grumbles!
Faculty Meeting this morning was a killer...I would like to thank Dining Services for offering the most amazing smelling donuts and no fruit :headache: I settled on a small bagel with light cream cheese and my usual coffee. At least we had a great discussion about how long the graduation ceremony should be and who should be speaking (currently it is 2 hours!!). I need to get my head measured for my cap for the ceremony...no clue why faculty are wearing caps?? The girls wear white dresses and carry flower bouquets....I think they will look beautiful! Can't wait for June 5th!

Uneventful evening last night. Spent about and hour and a half at the gym doing plyometrics (lots of jumping around) and some cardio. Dinner with mom proved to be me making bad choices :sad2: Irish bangers and mash were probably not supposed to be on my menu for yesterday! Back on the wagon!

Brian made it through work yesterday and had many people welcome him with open arms. He works with 1st graders and they just gave him hugs all day and told him about everything he missed. Too cute! He also went to a "Family of suicide" support group last night....ironically he felt like he was further along in the grief process than the others. I was happy that he came home happy for the first time in three weeks :lovestruc

Heading to lunch at 12:30 and I promise to make better choices; hope you all do the same :cheer2:

Hanging at work for another 2 hours! No clients. I got my errands done this morning so we should be all set with food for the next week except maybe milk by the end of next week.

I got in a 2 mile WATP this morning. Not sure if I'll do more later or not. Probably not as I need to do some stuff at the house before the kids get home, including running the dryer. I hope to clean the laundry room a little as well. It will be one less room to worry about next week. Shouldn't take me too long. Planning on taking Ash to an event at her school tonight. I will skip the ice cream sundaes. Maybe I'll win something in the basket raffle.

I think I'll eat my protein bar now. I'm starting to get hungry. Going to eat more pulled pork for supper tonight.

I know! What is up with the t-shirts! Glad to know that I'm not the only one that happens to, I was beginning to wonder if my weight was somehow transferring from my legs (which are obviously thinner) to my upper body....I know, it makes no sense :confused3 but neither does the fact that my tshirts are getting tighter :rotfl: And I've got DH headed to Academy during lunch to pick me up a foam roller :thumbsup2

I'm glad you shared that about your friend that is a NICU nurse, that's very encouraging and it gave me goosebumps :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

And last but not least, I'm VERY glad Brian went to a support group and he got something out of it! :woohoo: :goodvibes It's difficult to admit to yourself that you need to go to stuff like that when all you really want is for the pain to go away. I'll keep him in my prayers :goodvibes

Hello everyone,

Sorry I have not been on here in a while. Crazy week with book fair at one school and preparing for book fair at another school. I am also having a hard time with snacking in the afternoon. This has been since we got back from our cruise. I really need to get back on target.

On a good note, I was looking through some pictures on my phone and found one that was taken last August, a few weeks before I started WW. It shocked me.

photo7.jpg

Here is one of me and DH on the cruise two weeks ago.

palo_0001.jpg

It makes me feel good to see the results - and hopefully get back on target to keep going.

Kristi WOW!!!! You look amazing! Great job! And that is just from August?? You have definitely given me hope that I can make some difference in my appearance before we cruise in September (I started WW December 30th).

QOTD for Thursday, April 14:
What technology/gadgets have become useful to you in your quest for a healthier lifestyle?

I have to say that the ww app on my iphone. It so easy to quickly put in what I'm having then instead of 'trying to remember' later and do it.
