and we were on the deck checking out the animals when I got a call from my friend/Associate Pastor regarding an issue with a display we had used for our Haiti fundraiser. As he was saying "bye" he mentioned he was sorry about our grandson. So I stopped him and asked to explain as we had no idea what was going on (our daughter was struggling within herself on whether she should call us or wait until we got home, poor girl)
Anyway, our little Caleb was having a difficult time focusing on things and they had him checked. What the doctors discovered was that he has a cancer called retinablastoma (spelling?) that is on the back part of both eyes. This is, I do believe, not life threatening, but can result in loss of his eyes. So we got the news and changed our plans to come back home to be with her and our son-in-law.
I guess they grade this cancer from A (best case) to E (worst case) and Caleb is at a "B", so that is great news. And the specialist is confident it was found early enough to treat with chemotherapy to remove the tumors. So we are very pleased with the initial reports. They are discussing treatment options as we speak.
I will keep you, my teammates who are family to me now, updated as to his progress. And if you desire to lift up prayers for him I ask for the following:
1. Removal of the tumors
2. The marriage of this young couple remains strong.
3. The we, the parents, can remain strong for the kids.
4. That Caleb grows to be a strong young man.
Thanks for your support teammates.
Dave
I'm so sorry to hear that your family is going through this. We went through a medical crisis with one of our sons and I know how scared you and your family are right now. We will certainly pray for Caleb and your family. We know first hand that miracles do happen and prayer is so very important.
Dave- Im so sorry about your grandson. I will be thinking of him and his speedy recovery.
P-on the 3lbs lost!!!
Im in on the journaling. I started journaling again this week and I think it has helped me lose a pound! I am two away from my BL goal! Plus I have started some form of exercising...leading to QOTD:
My weighted hula hoop came in on Monday and I have been doing it daily. Lets just say it hurt the first day, so imagine me with a big goose down jacket on doing the hula hoop for added insulation. Double benefits: it doesnt hurt to hula hoop and I break a sweat faster
Im keeping track of my measurements for my waist so that I will know when I reach my wedding dress measurements.
speaking of wedding, I found some bridesmaid dresses that I like. I like how they are all different but coordinate together.

I just need to pick bridesmaids!!!
I love the dresses

on the 3lbs lost!!!

so glad that you had a great time in Poland and now you are jet setting off to London -- wow!
I thought about you last week because I had 2 friends post on FB they were waiting for their son's results from Harvard & Duke but then they never posted again so I am guessing they didn't get accepted.
Of course, it's nearly impossible to get accepted at either of those schools so I am sure they will still get in other good schools elsewhere....
I was a little surprised at that. He liked the older brother better than the boy his age (of course) but they did not speak any English at all so DS got a lot of practice.

, this morning I got in my
and
to meet up with my wonderful workout buddy and very good friend
on his Harley (he'd be offended with the moped, lol).
I didn't even have the sniffles when I went to bed a midnight
Hopefully sudafed will be my friend and clear it up quickly

Are you going to try another run this week-end?
Yes the journaling yesterday was ugly after the lunch was entered -- and the adult beverages. But we had a great time and I'm pretty sure it is the first time that we've been out to eat with just the two of us this year. Need to work on that!
But my faithful journalling also showed me that I have lots of places to work on in the eating department. Thankfully, today is another day!
