Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

By the way, I thought of you today when we officially booked Seattle to Alaska on the Disney Wonder for June 2012!!!

HOW COULD WE PASS UP A CHANCE TO SAIL RIGHT OUT OF SEATTLE!?!?

We are sooo looking forward to being able to drive to the port with whatever luggage and liquids we can carry! And my DS reminded me we can also bring home whatever we can carry - souvenirs from Alaska, Victoria, the ship - including Duty Free!

I'm going to make DH take his Tux and DD and I want to borrow full length "prom" style dresses for formal night.
Since this is not a "hot weather," beach, or Castaway Cay cruise, I figure we'd play up the formal/romantic aspects.

It's like our "ship has come in!"

Now, admittedly, DH was silent when I told him I transfered our "dummy" onboard booking to this. I think he is still reeling from having just been on a huge Cruise/theme park vacation... and the Visa bills came today.

The kids are so excited though. My DD14 knows this means she'll likely have to work during college!

Hey everyone - I love hearing about all of your workout routines! Everyone is working hard and making the changes and good choices that produce results.
Good job and keep it up!!!

Marcy

Wow! That sounds fantastic! And what a dream, not to have to worry about airfare to and back!

I know what you mean about the kids paying for college. I remind my kids every time I take them away somewhere special that the money is coming from SOMEWHERE and that somewhere is probably their college fund!! I laugh, but honestly, paying for college for the kids (or at least helping them pay) is one of the few stressors in my life.... but I also believe in living for NOW. I try to run a good balance of saving for the future but enjoying life now. Life is short.

Pam - your pizza sounds great. Did you have any type of crust? What play is DS in? Andrew is in Kiss Me Kate. I hope you had fun!

I made an eggwhite crust. I just made a very well done flat eggwhite patty (seasoned with some italian seasonings and garlic). I cooked it more than I would if I were eating it like an omelet.

Then I put in on a sprayed airbake cookie sheet, put on the toppings and cooked it with the family's pizzas in a 425 degree oven for about 10 minutes. It was floppy but very very good! And far less points than even a light crust would have been.... and no carbs!

If I were eating carbs now and were going to do it again, I might throw a tablespoon of HeartSmart Bisquick in with the eggwhites to firm it up a bit.

The school is doing Willy Wonka Junior (kind of a modified version) the Musical. Sadly, there is a very limited sound system and a few of the kids were so quiet that if I weren't reading their lips, I wouldn't have known they were singing! HOnestly!! It was a real shame that they worked so hard and were so brave to be up there... and then we couldn't even enjoy it. But we got the jist of it and appreciated all of the effort. They are performing again tonight, but since DS is only helping backstage, I don't feel compelled to attend again. DS sings well and actually made a role last year when they did Guys and Dolls.... but he chickened out a few weeks into rehearsals and gave up his part. :confused3 What is Andrew doing?? Beind the scenes or on stage??

Ugh! Between the iPad and slow DIS boards, I am going to have serial posts. Sorry!
I agree... the DIS has been slow lately!

QOTD for Saturday April 9:
This is a fun one for a Saturday. Use one or more DISBoards smilies to tell us something about you or about someone you know.

So, my journal challenge buddies, did you journal your food today? I did and I used some of my weekly points for much-desired jambalaya that was in the freezer from two weeks ago. Still proud that I froze it then rather than eating it all. It was a fun Friday night meal over a plate full of broccoli tonight.

Have a great night everyone!

Kept up nicely with my journaling yesterday. When I am working I usually journal all of the food I pack for the day as I pack it. Then I don't have to worry about remembering it when I get home. If I decide not to eat something, I just cross it off when I get home. I rarely eat MORE than what I pack because there is no place near the school to get food (very rural) and I don't buy cafeteria food.

FWIW.... in addition to journaling all of my food, I also journal my exercise, water, and occasional other "personal" notes like TOM. It helps me see if there is a pattern to things sometimes.

Thanks so much. Caleb was born on January 11th, our 1/11/11 baby.

OMG.... he is truly just a little baby!

Dave... may I mentioned that your prayer request was SO spot on. I am not sure how you are thinking so clearly at a time like this, but everything you asked for is just right. Your DD and SIL are going to really struggle during this time. It will put such a stress on each of them individually and on their relationship, no matter how strong it is. Your request for strength for them together was a great idea. Wanna come join my Tuesday morning group??? I'm sure the ladies would love you!

Happy Saturday BL friends! Today I am re-committing to posting here daily! I am still trying to catch up on reading the thread. I am up to 4/5 at 8:30 pm or page 57. Once I get totally caught up more, I can respond more to others. Had a FANTASTIC 2 day trip to London with my 2 girlfriends.

The trip sounds terrific! I'm envious (as usual). Glad you were able to feel comfortable and stylish in what you were wearing.

Pamela, thanks for the encouragement. The dish was a recipe from Shape mag : Saute 1/2 onion in a little olive oil. Add 1 cup cooked quinoa, slivered almonds and chopped fresh parsley and cook through. They didn't give any specific measurements but you can figure it out When I made this a second time, I sauteed garlic with the onion and added a squeeze of lemon. Very quick and easy except soaking and cooking the Q took a little bit of time.
Here is another recipe for Quinoa http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Quinoa-and-Black-Beans/Detail.aspx

Thanks.... I'll save it for when I can eat carbs again

I did 45 minutes on the elliptical this morning and will try to be good the rest of the weekend with food and exercise. I was so bummed that Courtney got voted off BL this week !!!!!!!!!

Glad you are finding the time to catch up.... but honestly, don't feel like you absolutely have to! We're just glad you are here with us now!

Good job with the 45 minutes. I ended up 15 minutes short on my exercise yesterday. Guess I'll try to make up for it today.

I was down 2.2 at my weigh in on Thursday, which made me happy. And have been doing my walking "homework" for my first strides program. This week I really have to journal what I am eating because I have been really slacking off lately.

Great weigh in!! Join our journaling challenge for the next two weeks!

Good morning everyone.

I started to post before, and lost it when I kept getting server too busy screen. I should have copied and pasted. I almost took the server too busy as a sign i should get off the computer and do some housework, but I stuck it out, and hopefully this will get posted and I'll remember what I wanted to say.

I hate it when that happens!!

Hope all our journallers are doing well. I journalled every bite yesterday, and I know I did better because of it. I used 14 of my flex points, and when I went in the kitchen after dinner, I didn't want to use any more points, so I just had a glass of water. Hope everyone else is doing well with the journalling.

Yup.... I did just fine with my journaling yesterday.... including the extra 2 points of almonds I ate in the car in the evening. I was SO hungry!

PamelaSoooooo exxcited for you and your 3 pound weight loss!!!! Congratulations!!

I am excited beyond belief. Just 3.5 pounds away from my absolute ultimate goal.... of course, I've been this close many times over the past year and I just don't seem to make it. Maybe this time will be IT!!

Quick hello before the craziness of today begins!

Thanks everybody! Ash's knee is fine. Just a little bruised! I think she's excited to play soccer again today! Izzie is all ready to go! I have to take her, watch a few minutes of her game before heading to work. Hopefully the client is on time! Then I'll need to pick her and another person up to go for lunch and sign Ash up for her sewing class. Hoping to go see Hop at 4 today. Tomorrow we will probably have dinner out after the b'day party Izzie is going to.

Gotta tie Izzie's cleats and figure out which field she is playing on today!

Glad the knee wasn't more serious. I hope their soccer is great today.... should be relatively nice day in MA. We have sun here and are expecting decent temps.

I've been so MIA on the boards lately (between school and work oh and home and life, lol), but since my best buddy is the coach this week, I have to get back to at least checking in daily

I go to school two mornings and two nights and work full time in between. So the mornings that I don't have school are my 'workout' mornings. I go to the Y cause I'm not disciplined to actually do something at home. I have a friend who meets me there some mornings, so it is nice to have someone to workout with and she's working on becoming a personal trainer so I get 'free' training, lol.

Glad you made it back khere! You are SUPER busy.... I'm impressed you fit in so much exercise..... but lucky you having your own FREE PT to work with!

**********Happy Sunny Saturday everyone!!

Once again, this day is flying by. I slept in until 7am!! Felt nice after the busy week. DD and I are heading out for a power walkk as soon as we can both peel ourselves away from the :surfweb: No big plans for this weekend for a change. I am kind of GIDDY with the idea of just doing NOTHING if I want! That said, I have some errands I should get done before another busy week starts up. DD and I need to buy our Disney sneakers and get them properly broken in. I have returns to take back to four different places, plus two bags to go to the Goodwill. DD and I will probably do that stuff this afternoon, which will effectively kill the remainder of the day. Maybe after church tomorrow can be a relaxing time.

Breakfast today was interesting.... I combined 1/2 C lowfat cottage cheese, 2 oz chopped smoked salmon, and 1 chopped scallion. Not a bad combination, if you like your cottage cheese salty instead of sweet (I like it both ways, but no sweet this week). I would have liked a little less salmon or a little more cheese, but I was using up what I had. I am just tired of egg whites, so I wanted something different.

Making vegetable soup for myself for lunch, but it will definitely be different because I can't use beans or carrots. Not sure what my protein will be yet.

Change that..... DD just asked if we can have lunch at the mall while out for errands. Looks like I will probably have the blackened fish and steamed broccoli at Bourbon Street Cafe (my usual mall lunch). Which will mean fish twice today, as I was having sole tonight... oh well. Guess I'll make the soup tomorrow.

Wish I had more fun stuff to chat about.... but alas, my life is sad and boring! TTYL......................P

Today's QOTD:

A short story about me!!

I  going to the movies. But not :3dglasses movies. They give me a :headache:. I usually popcorn:: too much and when I realize how much I ate, I want to :crazy2: and I am  with myself. And then the next :sunny: I have some  at myself... but I try to just get over it. I come on :surfweb: to :chat: all about it and I feel:) . Plus if I get plenty of :yay: I won't gain any weight.

Very soon I am :drive: to go see::MickeyMo While I am there I will :mickeybar and :drinking: but definitely NOT :smokin: . I will try not to overdo so I don't feel .

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST...........

CONTINUATION...........

Before I leave I have lots of :laundy: and :stir: to do to be sure that the house is all set for the :groom: and :groom: and :cat:

I need to :teacher: as much as I can before my trip so that I have enough saved up to pay for all of the popcorn:::cake::drinking::mickeybar:car: and everything else.

princess: and I are counting the :hourglass until we go. We are very :woohoo:.

That's the story about me!

The job is going well. There is so much to learn. I had no idea what actually went on in an oil company office :scared1: They've been showing me all the different positions and each have so many tasks, terminologies and responsibilities. Plus with all the government safety guidelines, mostly to protect customers of their own ignorance there is lots to learn. I'm sure that I will do fine, but yesterday had my head spinning as I watched coworkers navigating through different computer apps and programs. It's a good thing that I like working with technology:thumbsup2

Shawn - so glad you had a great time in London and that your son's exchange program was so great. What is COD?

Kathy- awesome job journaling! Have a great day, sweetie!

Karlie - want to join our journaling challenge? :)

Patty- thank you for giving me an incentive to get in an hour of exercise this morning. I loved catching up in person! Welcome to the journal challenge! You are doing great and this will reinforce your efforts and help the rest of us. :)

Tracey - glad to hear that Ash's sore knee won't keep her from soccer. Have a great day!

Patty - what a great smilie story! Yea, Dale will not like you using the moped smilie for his be love HD! LOL!

Lisa - you always do such an amazing job with the replies! it's great that you journaled your lunch and beverages. :goodvibes

CC- so proud of you for journaling. I hope you enjoyed getting out for a walk. :sunny:

Pam- you totally ROCKED today's QOTD. Huge grin on my face. Fun!

Deb - I hope you are feeling better. Patty and I were both noticing our allergy symptoms after our walk this morning. Ugh! Glad the job is interesting and challenging. :)

This is hard on the iPad and we are meeting friends for lunch at PF Changs. I have all the points calculated and will journal all of it. Back on here tonight. Have a great OP day, everyone!

Pam - what a great idea for the crust. It sounds delicious. Andrew is doing Kiss Me Kate and is one of the suitors. The director and choreographer pushed a featured dance solo and some vocal parts to him too so his part is requiring a lot of rehearsal time. Opening weekend is 4 weeks away and they do 2 shows each of two weekends during prom season and right before AP exams. Craziness!

QOTD for Saturday April 9:
This is a fun one for a Saturday. Use one or more DISBoards smilies to tell us something about you or about someone you know..

I woke up late today considering I was up all night :happytv:. I couldn't sleep. I got up and started :laundy: and did my usual check :surfweb: of email, FB, and school website. I'm waiting on the last team member to post her portion so we can get that last assignment in :cool1:. I finished up my 30 day count down calendar to Disney :tinker:. I had to add the ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo pluto: :goofy: and :donald: stickers to it. :lmao:

I still need to figure out what's for lunch :stir: and :car: to the mall so I can go get the rest of the clothes I need for my trip. Going to call and :chat: with my best friend here in a few and see how she's feeling .

Ash's team won their soccer game 7-3! Izzie's team won too. Went to work and then got Ash signed up for her sewing class with two friends! Then I ate an entire small eggplant and mushroom pizza for lunch! I had only had a shake this morning so I was starving! Heading off to see Hop now with the family and then we will probably come home and watch Tron or Voyage of the Dawn Treader since we got those in the mail today! I just put some M&Ms in a baggie to take to the movies. I'm going to try and not eat any popcorn during the movie. It will be hard. But I have the M&Ms!!!!

I'll do the QOTD post later!

TTFN :tigger:

I have really  reading everyone's qotd answers today. They all made me :) and even  . I think you are all so :cool2:,and I hope you will think I am :cool2: too as I answer the qotd.

I awoke and had my :coffee: while I :surfweb: and the :sunny: was shining. I thought I'd be :crazy2: to waste this beautiful day here on the :surfweb:
and I'd be :furious: if I did that so I called my friend Karen :chat:and her dh
:dancer:said he's be :woohoo:to watch our :littleangel:s while we went for a run. He was a little :sick:after going to the red sox game yesterday, but he  karen, so he was happy to help.

I wish I knew a:genie:who would :teleport:us all to WDW for a :drinking1and a :mickeybar so I could say :thanks: to my friends here for all the :love:and :grouphug: you all have given me. Well, this is as good a time as any to come back after a few weeks' :scared1: absence; I was feeling :guilty: because I fell off the exercise wagon starting with being  and then I injured my foot (not even exercising--just a  mistake). :charac2: But now I am  because I've resumed my healthy diet and exercise, have no more foot pain, and managed to maintain my loss so far during my time off-plan. Back on schedule now.
:thanks: for making it easy to come back :flower3: .
I am glad to be a :wishmember

And on a serious note, Dave I am sorry to hear about Caleb's diagnosis. Many prayers for a quick recovery for your sweet grandson.

I am :) to report that I journaled every bite today! :thumbsup2 I was a bit :scared1: because we went out for dinner and a lot of food has cheese on it. Well, for the early bird menu! I'm not so sure it was a smaller sized portion :confused3, but it was low in points and cheese-free! :cool1: I  my dinner and I only used 2 of my weeklie's. :cloud9: Those are the only 2 I've eaten since I started my week on Thursday!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't be more excited! :woohoo:

Have a great, OP day tomorrow everyone! :goodvibes

I just turned in my last group assignment so I can finally say

COLLEGE IS OVER!! :cool1:

What a wonderful feeling, I am sure. I've got years to go yet, but will know that it will be well worth it when I'm done. Congratulations.

Getting ready to hit the bed, really tired now, but had to come back and say how glad I am to have this group. I know it's only one day, but I journaled EVERYTHING today. Even the 9 point rita's water ice I thoroughly enjoyed tonight.

The sun is shining on a Saturday. I'm hoping to get some housework done this morning and I want to get outside this afternoon. I would love to move our camper closer to the house as I want to get it Spring cleaned and loaded for the season. It's still too early, but it's a new camper so I want to play with my toy. I woke up several times during the night with a sharp headache. This morning I have a runny nose and some upper teeth hurting. I didn't even have the sniffles when I went to bed a midnight. I'm hoping that it's just allergies as new job = no time to be sick. Plus we have no health insurance this month Hopefully sudafed will be my friend and clear it up quickly

The NASCAR race is on tonight so I'll work on a couple of lacrosse projects while I watch that with hubby. Tomorrow and Monday are supposed to be warm and rainy so we need to enjoy today.

Have a fabulous Saturday friends

Prayers that it is just allergies and it all disappears quickly! I've never had a sinus infection come on that quickly, so I doubt that is what it is.

DH is watching Nascar, but I don't have the patience. DD and I are watching Chicago that I recorded on the DVR a few days ago.

Thanks for running this Cam! I journaled everything yesterday. I actually didn't eat enough yesterday. I also need to add another serving or 2 of veggies into my day.

Glad you stuck with the journaling.

P: Congrats on your 3 lbs! You had a great week! :cool1:

THANKS!!

I need to do some type of exercise today. My schedule has been so busy that I didn't make it to the gym at all this week. I am trying to increase my daily steps as well. I'm hoping to try C25K today-outside. I may just end up walking, but 30 minutes of walking outside would be a huge accomplishment for me, so I'll take it. Hoping for an OP day!

I FINALLY made it outside for a workout today too! DD and I took a walk/speed walk/run for aboout 45 minutes. The sun was shining and I wore just a light hoodie over my t-shirt and running capris and I didn't even get cold!

Hope your 30 minute walk outside was enjoyable!!

I wondered why there was so much training involved! Now I understand. Good thing you are so smart!!

Pam - what a great idea for the crust. It sounds delicious. Andrew is doing Kiss Me Kate and is one of the suitors. Makes you wonder what the music/drama coordinator was thinking when the show was scheduled!

I wish I knew a:genie:who would :teleport:us all to WDW for a :drinking1and a :mickeybar so I could say :thanks: to my friends here for all the :love:and :grouphug: you all have given me. Awww.... how sweet. We're glad you're back too!! And you definitely did something right if you maintained!!

*********Evening friends!!

Well.... my "few errands" with DD turned into the entire afternoon and evening (as I was afraid it might). Quick lunch at Ruby Tuesday's......they have a great "veggie trio and endless salad bar" option now. I had grilled zucchini, grilled green beans, and steamed broccoli with my salad bar. I had a few chickpeas and a bit of edamame (not SB approved, but I needed the protein) and a small scoop of cottage cheese for my protein. I avoided all other carbs on the salad bar (pasta, peas, beets, fruit, croutons), topped off the salad with oil and vinegar. I put a tiny plop of blue cheese on the corner of the plate and kind of did a fork dip for a bit of extra "yummy" every few bites.

Despite the huge quantity of food I had for lunch, with so little protein and fat and no carbs, I was pretty hungry for the remainder of the afternoon. We finally did a quick Wendy's drive through around 7pm. I got two grilled chicken go-wraps, plain, and tossed the tortillas (well, acctually DD ate one with her chili). Hope they aren't overly saturated in fat. I figured the points the best I could, since the Wendy's website doesn't offer a calorie breakdown of the chicken separate from the wrap.

DD and I managed to find a decent deal on our new sneakers for Disney. But she is now being a bit indecisive about whether or not she wants to keep hers. Since it was a BOGO 50% off sale, I will hold off on wearing mine until she decides. They were both kind of pricey and I probably won't keep either of them if she doesn't want hers. I bought Aasics and they are delightfully comfortable, but I don't need anything that expensive just to walk around Disney. My feet aren't terribly picky and I could be just as comfortable in some sale priced New Balance from Sears.

We also bought a new camera for Disney!!! I love my camera, but it is pretty big and it has been a PITA to carry during the last two trips to Disney. It is a great camera, but I don't really need a big camera with 12x optical zoom in the parks, so I bought a cute tiny new camera.... just 7x optical zoom, but I think that will be enough. It is 14 megapix.... that is what is important to me. Plus I've been wanting a tiny camera to keep with me all the time.

I had a coupon from Staples for a clearance camera (from last week's flier)... plus I bought the floor model (last one), so another 5% off. So I ended up paying about $125 for a camera that was originally about $180. Not bad. Got another SD card and will order a spare battery tomorrow. Then that is one more thing off my list for Disney!! I just need to take the time to read the directions!

We also bought a pair of cute matching t-shirts from HOllister for the trip. Sure, they aren't Mickey, but they are DARN cute and they don't SCREAM Hollister like most of their stuff does. AND it was a t-shirt that DD admired last time we were in there and it was on clearance plus 50% off the clearance price!

I think we've figured that between the new Mickey t-shirts
we bought, the matching pair or two we already had, and this new shirt from HOllister, we will be all set for the trip. We've been trying to find some matching plaid shorts, but can't seem to have any luck. Tried on some cute ones at Walmart today.... they fit me pretty well, but not so much on DD.... seemed to hang wrong on her. So we skipped them. I figure if we each have a denim pair, a black pair, and a khaki pair, we should probably be okay.

Can you tell I'm getting excited about the trip, with all this rambling about t-shirts??? Our Park Hoppers came about two weeks ago and we got a "special value" mail offer for our Photopass from Disney today!!

Well.... we are going to early service at church in the morning, which means leaving the house at 8:15 am.... which means my workout needs to be done by about 7:15 so I have time to shower, dress, and feed the family. So the alarm is set for 6am.... which means I need to go to sleep! Hope that iced coffee I had today was actually decaf, like I ordered!

Talk to you all tomorrow!................P
