By the way, I thought of you today when we officially booked Seattle to Alaska on the Disney Wonder for June 2012!!!
HOW COULD WE PASS UP A CHANCE TO SAIL RIGHT OUT OF SEATTLE!?!?
We are sooo looking forward to being able to drive to the port with whatever luggage and liquids we can carry! And my DS reminded me we can also bring home whatever we can carry - souvenirs from Alaska, Victoria, the ship - including Duty Free!
I'm going to make DH take his Tux and DD and I want to borrow full length "prom" style dresses for formal night.
Since this is not a "hot weather," beach, or Castaway Cay cruise, I figure we'd play up the formal/romantic aspects.
It's like our "ship has come in!"
Now, admittedly, DH was silent when I told him I transfered our "dummy" onboard booking to this. I think he is still reeling from having just been on a huge Cruise/theme park vacation... and the Visa bills came today.
The kids are so excited though. My DD14 knows this means she'll likely have to work during college!
Hey everyone - I love hearing about all of your workout routines! Everyone is working hard and making the changes and good choices that produce results.
Good job and keep it up!!!
Marcy
Wow! That sounds fantastic! And what a dream, not to have to worry about airfare to and back!
I know what you mean about the kids paying for college. I remind my kids every time I take them away somewhere special that the money is coming from SOMEWHERE and that somewhere is probably their college fund!!

I agree... the DIS has been slow lately!Pam - your pizza sounds great. Did you have any type of crust? What play is DS in? Andrew is in Kiss Me Kate. I hope you had fun!
I made an eggwhite crust. I just made a very well done flat eggwhite patty (seasoned with some italian seasonings and garlic). I cooked it more than I would if I were eating it like an omelet.
Then I put in on a sprayed airbake cookie sheet, put on the toppings and cooked it with the family's pizzas in a 425 degree oven for about 10 minutes. It was floppy but very very good! And far less points than even a light crust would have been.... and no carbs!
If I were eating carbs now and were going to do it again, I might throw a tablespoon of HeartSmart Bisquick in with the eggwhites to firm it up a bit.
The school is doing Willy Wonka Junior (kind of a modified version) the Musical. Sadly, there is a very limited sound system and a few of the kids were so quiet that if I weren't reading their lips, I wouldn't have known they were singing! HOnestly!! It was a real shame that they worked so hard and were so brave to be up there... and then we couldn't even enjoy it. But we got the jist of it and appreciated all of the effort. They are performing again tonight, but since DS is only helping backstage, I don't feel compelled to attend again. DS sings well and actually made a role last year when they did Guys and Dolls.... but he chickened out a few weeks into rehearsals and gave up his part. What is Andrew doing?? Beind the scenes or on stage??
Ugh! Between the iPad and slow DIS boards, I am going to have serial posts. Sorry!
QOTD for Saturday April 9:
This is a fun one for a Saturday. Use one or more DISBoards smilies to tell us something about you or about someone you know.
So, my journal challenge buddies, did you journal your food today? I did and I used some of my weekly points for much-desired jambalaya that was in the freezer from two weeks ago. Still proud that I froze it then rather than eating it all. It was a fun Friday night meal over a plate full of broccoli tonight.
Have a great night everyone!
Kept up nicely with my journaling yesterday. When I am working I usually journal all of the food I pack for the day as I pack it. Then I don't have to worry about remembering it when I get home. If I decide not to eat something, I just cross it off when I get home. I rarely eat MORE than what I pack because there is no place near the school to get food (very rural) and I don't buy cafeteria food.
FWIW.... in addition to journaling all of my food, I also journal my exercise, water, and occasional other "personal" notes like TOM. It helps me see if there is a pattern to things sometimes.
Thanks so much. Caleb was born on January 11th, our 1/11/11 baby.
OMG.... he is truly just a little baby!
Dave... may I mentioned that your prayer request was SO spot on. I am not sure how you are thinking so clearly at a time like this, but everything you asked for is just right. Your DD and SIL are going to really struggle during this time. It will put such a stress on each of them individually and on their relationship, no matter how strong it is. Your request for strength for them together was a great idea. Wanna come join my Tuesday morning group???

Happy Saturday BL friends! Today I am re-committing to posting here daily! I am still trying to catch up on reading the thread. I am up to 4/5 at 8:30 pm or page 57. Once I get totally caught up more, I can respond more to others. Had a FANTASTIC 2 day trip to London with my 2 girlfriends.
The trip sounds terrific! I'm envious (as usual). Glad you were able to feel comfortable and stylish in what you were wearing.
Pamela, thanks for the encouragement. The dish was a recipe from Shape mag : Saute 1/2 onion in a little olive oil. Add 1 cup cooked quinoa, slivered almonds and chopped fresh parsley and cook through. They didn't give any specific measurements but you can figure it out When I made this a second time, I sauteed garlic with the onion and added a squeeze of lemon. Very quick and easy except soaking and cooking the Q took a little bit of time.
Here is another recipe for Quinoa http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Quinoa-and-Black-Beans/Detail.aspx
Thanks.... I'll save it for when I can eat carbs again
I did 45 minutes on the elliptical this morning and will try to be good the rest of the weekend with food and exercise. I was so bummed that Courtney got voted off BL this week !!!!!!!!!
Glad you are finding the time to catch up.... but honestly, don't feel like you absolutely have to! We're just glad you are here with us now!
Good job with the 45 minutes. I ended up 15 minutes short on my exercise yesterday. Guess I'll try to make up for it today.
I was down 2.2 at my weigh in on Thursday, which made me happy. And have been doing my walking "homework" for my first strides program. This week I really have to journal what I am eating because I have been really slacking off lately.
Great weigh in!! Join our journaling challenge for the next two weeks!
Good morning everyone.
I started to post before, and lost it when I kept getting server too busy screen. I should have copied and pasted. I almost took the server too busy as a sign i should get off the computer and do some housework, but I stuck it out, and hopefully this will get posted and I'll remember what I wanted to say.
I hate it when that happens!!
Hope all our journallers are doing well. I journalled every bite yesterday, and I know I did better because of it. I used 14 of my flex points, and when I went in the kitchen after dinner, I didn't want to use any more points, so I just had a glass of water. Hope everyone else is doing well with the journalling.
Yup.... I did just fine with my journaling yesterday.... including the extra 2 points of almonds I ate in the car in the evening. I was SO hungry!
PamelaSoooooo exxcited for you and your 3 pound weight loss!!!! Congratulations!!
I am excited beyond belief. Just 3.5 pounds away from my absolute ultimate goal.... of course, I've been this close many times over the past year and I just don't seem to make it. Maybe this time will be IT!!
Quick hello before the craziness of today begins!
Thanks everybody! Ash's knee is fine. Just a little bruised! I think she's excited to play soccer again today! Izzie is all ready to go! I have to take her, watch a few minutes of her game before heading to work. Hopefully the client is on time! Then I'll need to pick her and another person up to go for lunch and sign Ash up for her sewing class. Hoping to go see Hop at 4 today. Tomorrow we will probably have dinner out after the b'day party Izzie is going to.
Gotta tie Izzie's cleats and figure out which field she is playing on today!
Glad the knee wasn't more serious. I hope their soccer is great today.... should be relatively nice day in MA. We have sun here and are expecting decent temps.
I've been so MIA on the boards lately (between school and work oh and home and life, lol), but since my best buddy is the coach this week, I have to get back to at least checking in daily
I go to school two mornings and two nights and work full time in between. So the mornings that I don't have school are my 'workout' mornings. I go to the Y cause I'm not disciplined to actually do something at home. I have a friend who meets me there some mornings, so it is nice to have someone to workout with and she's working on becoming a personal trainer so I get 'free' training, lol.
Glad you made it back khere! You are SUPER busy.... I'm impressed you fit in so much exercise..... but lucky you having your own FREE PT to work with!
**********Happy Sunny Saturday everyone!!
Once again, this day is flying by. I slept in until 7am!! Felt nice after the busy week. DD and I are heading out for a power walkk as soon as we can both peel ourselves away from the

Breakfast today was interesting.... I combined 1/2 C lowfat cottage cheese, 2 oz chopped smoked salmon, and 1 chopped scallion. Not a bad combination, if you like your cottage cheese salty instead of sweet (I like it both ways, but no sweet this week). I would have liked a little less salmon or a little more cheese, but I was using up what I had. I am just tired of egg whites, so I wanted something different.
Making vegetable soup for myself for lunch, but it will definitely be different because I can't use beans or carrots. Not sure what my protein will be yet.
Change that..... DD just asked if we can have lunch at the mall while out for errands. Looks like I will probably have the blackened fish and steamed broccoli at Bourbon Street Cafe (my usual mall lunch). Which will mean fish twice today, as I was having sole tonight... oh well. Guess I'll make the soup tomorrow.
Wish I had more fun stuff to chat about.... but alas, my life is sad and boring!
