Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

good morning everyone! happy friday! not too much planned today. no mommy and me class so we're just hanging out watching a really boring thomas the train movie. i need to get motivated to move but i'm feeling so lazy. i so wish the sun would come out.

have a great day everyone!!

Good morning all! TGIF! :goodvibes

Deb, so nice that your new boss appreciates you and told you so on the first day! It may be nice for you and the family to have a little transition into the new schedule.

CC, thanks for the new HH! :thumbsup2

Pamela, can't wait to hear how you did with your week of SB! :cool2:

Its going to feel weird not doing school work now, :lmao:.

Don't worry, you will get used to it very quickly! :teacher:

Buffy, hope you feel rested today. :flower3: Maybe you can get some walks in on your own while you are waiting for track events?

Tracey, hope the hungries go away today! :)

So we'll plan on your for our 2 week journalling challenge?

So now we have, Cam, CC, Dona, Pamela, Karen, and me. Any one else want to join us!!!!???

I'll join you, ladies! :goodvibes I think that the challenge can be done on this thread -- we can always move it if it gets to be too much but I'd like to not have another thread to keep up on if I can help it. ;)

Marcy, looks like a wonderful vacation and you look marvelous! :woohoo:

dona, one more week until spring break! :cool1:

QOTD for Friday April 8:
Tell us about your workout routine. Do you have a schedule of what you'll do each day? What is your favorite activity? Do you prefer to workout alone or with a friend? Have you searched out new activities to keep it diverse? Have you discovered any new activities that you have been surprised to find that you enjoy?

Thanks, Cam, for coaching this week! :flower3:

My exercise schedule is driven by my race training schedule. Training for these races has kept me consistently exercising, week after week. That was not always the case. :sad2: I do two short runs and one long run each week. I would like to work some cross training into my schedule but don't do that consistently. I definately can't work out more than 5 days a week because I need those rest days with long runs. I'm going to be so happy to move my exercise routine outside after the long winter! :sunny:

Lindsay, enjoy your day with your little guy! :thumbsup2

Dreamer24, so sorry for your loss. Hope you can make your goal but if not, get right back OP when you return and enjoy yourself. Sounds like you deserve a break! :flower3:

Nancy, nothing wrong with a quiet day for you guys! :goodvibes

Going to lunch with DH today. We need to get out more and do things that aren't related to home improvement or work! :hippie:

Down 2 pounds this morning! :goodvibes

Have a great day all!

Hi all,

I feel like I'm tardy for school! This is my first post for the day!

Got up at 5 and did the 3 mile WATP with weights. Then I got Ash up and we walked to the wellness center. She got on the bus there and I walked home. Had to send out some emails and get Izzie and myself ready for the day. I have my work laundry to fold after I post this. No clients for me until 1 and then I have to go home and clean up the kitchen. When Ash gets off the bus we need to kick the soccer ball around seeing as her first game is tomorrow and she didn't have practice this week. I may have her do some sprints too. Then she needs to put her laundry away in her room and then work on her Rev. War biography notes.

I've put the swordfish in two different marinades for supper, a Caribbean jerk one and a teriyaki one. Probably have fries with that. We ate a lot of salads this week.

Tomorrow is a busy day: 2 soccer games, work for me, lunch with some ladies and then sign Ash up for her sewing class for her birthday! I would like to take the kids to the movies but we'll have to see. Hoping Tron and Voyage of the Dawn Treader arrive today but I only got the shipment confirmation this morning so I'm not counting on it. Maybe tomorrow. Sunday, Izzie has a birthday party to attend from 3-5. Neighbor said she would drive her and then I will pick her up. We may just stop and get something for supper on the way home.

Brian and I are both off on Monday so we may do our Costco run before Izzie gets home. I will probably have to pick up Ash's sewing machine too.

I need to get some more Easter decorations up this weekend. House is still a mess but I'm calling it a WORK IN PROGRESS!

Enough babbling! Time to fold my sheets and towels!

TTFN :tigger:

I wish I had the discipline to journal everyday! I usually begin well and then forget a snack...then a meal....then an entire day. I've gotten back on that food journal horse soooo many times. So, I am inspired to begin again!! Thanks for the support (and the challenge!)

You can do it! Just one thing....."Write it BEFORE you bite it!!" No excuses that way!!

Mike starts his new job on the 18th. His last day is next thur. It feels like its taking forever. He is doing fine and they are being ok with him for the most part and he really has no worries anymore so its been much nicer living with him.;) I am just hoping this next job is as good as it sounds.

GLad things are looking up with DH. I'll be praying for a fresh start with the new job!!

Pam you are supermom!!!! I hope your day goes smoothly!

Not even. But some days I am "crazy driving Mom"!!

Hi Everyone!

I have not posted lately. I am still at an even 20 lbs lost, so not real gain, but I am not losing either. I am okay with that, but have another problem and I am looking for your advice...bear with me.

Last August I woke up and my left shoulder hurt. Over time it seemed to have gotten worse. But I could not pinpoint the pain. It radiates down my arm and sometimes into my wrist.

Finally at the end of Feb. I decided I had to do something. I went to the Chiropractor. After a month, I am not better. I have been going 3 times a week. I feel better that day, it begins to tighten day 2 and then the cycle starts over.

I had an MRI on 3/22. It looks normal except for...
"very small subcortical stress-related cyst posterior lateral aspect hemeral head". They say that should not be causing the pain and motion restriction I am having.

I have an Appointment with an Orthopaedist on 4/20. Should I see him or a neurologist? Any thoughts, ideas to help with the pain which is especially bad when I sleep...etc.

Things I do at home...ice, aleve, ibuprofen. Nothing seems to be helping.

Thanks!

OUCH. Sorry about all this. I personally would start with the Orthopaedist. I'll pray for some healing and pain relief. Let us know how things are going.

Good morning, everyone! I was unexpectedly tied up in a 2 hour meeting, so I am playing catch up now. EEK! Thank you for all the WW weigh-in mojo, everyone! Usually I take off my rings before bed because they have gotten so loose that they are annoying in my sleep. Last night, I was glad to take them off because two of the three were uncomfortably tight. This morning, my fingers looked like sausages. LOL! So, I wasn't expecting much at weigh-in. I guess I should be glad the scale was down .6 but I couldn't help but wish for better. Next week should be my big scale "WHOOSH".

Okay, so who wants to join a journaling challenge with me? Should we do it here? or set up a new thread where everyone can check in? I think, so far, Kathy is on board with me. I'm not sure if CC is game. Who else? Anyone? Bueller? ......... Bueller?

Okay, here it is. Let's commit to journal our food, even if it is just for the next two weeks. This might mean only writing down what you eat and the portion size for now. If you are able to track points or pointsplus or calories or some other nutrition information, too, that is great -- you are already on to "step 2". So, who is with me? (Kathy, I've "volunteered" you, my friend :cutie: )

Did you see my post? I'm in for the journaling challenge!! And can't wait to hear about your "WOOSH" next week!

I know this point-of-view isn't popular with many low carb diehards, but I really believe that picking what works for you personally then moderation of that way of eating is more important than one type of "plan" over another. When the hubster and I lost those mega pounds all those years ago pre-baby, we did it starting off with Atkins. Then we moved overseas to France. Let me just tell ya: a low carb lifestyle and France aren't the best of pals. So, we went from low carb, to relatively high carb: with fresh breads, lots of cheeses, meats and pates, wine (oh the wine) and some other-worldly desserts here and there. Because we did a lot of walking -- down to the village, to the shops -- we kept the weight off. I really think it was all down to moderation -- us not overeating or eating processed junk -- and all the exercise we got. Just my personal 2 cents!

I pretty much agree with what you said. I think there isn't one PERFECT diet for everyone.... I think it is an individual thing.... there is a perfect diet for YOU. It sometimes just takes some work to find the one that is just right for your lifestyle and such.

I finished my last individual assignment for my Bachelors degree!!

I'm waiting for team members to finish up their parts and then we'll get it turned in.

Its going to feel weird not doing school work now, :lmao:.

Weird in a good way though, right??

read and run.

How come no one told me Track and Field events took 4 hours?!?!??!

DS14 had his first meet today. Ran the 100 meter and the 200 meter and did really well for his first time out.

then invention convention at the elementary school, that goodness the private school DS9 goes to didn't have an event.

Mama's tired so I'm headed to bed in 10 minutes.
Been staying on plan with food only because I've been to busy to eat!! LOL

See y'all tomorrow!

You must be crazy busy with all that plus trying to get ready to go away and of course, take care of YOURSELF! Hope you had a good sleep. Glad to hear that DS had some good times!

Well, now I'm feeling some pressure. My folded piece of printer paper doesn't compare with 3 years of notebooks, but it works well for me, when I DO IT!!! That is the key. I'm in, every bite, lick and taste.

It doesn't matter what TYPE of journaling it is, as long as it works for you! I started out trying to do all computer journaling.... but it was a PITA to have to hop on my laptop every time I ate! So after a few months I switched over to a simple spiral bound notebook. It has its own "home" on the kitchen counter and it has become truly a normal, regular part of every single day.

Nice work on the orgranizing today, P. I laughed about your junk drawer because a few weeks ago, michael and a friend had a rope tied from the refridgerator to my kitchen junk drawer, and they were videoing each other running into the rope and falling, and imagine their surprise when the junk drawer flew completely out of the cabinet, and all over the kitchen floor. I wasn't too mad, because I couldn't tell you the last time i had cleaned it out, so it wasn't a bad thing. Fingers crossed for you and the scale tomorrow!!

I have a love-hate relationship with the junk drawer! It is a great thing when you need to clean up quick.... but it becomes a dumping ground for the rest of the family! Glad you ended up with an excuse to clean yours up!

Good evening everyone. I'm need to go to work early, so I wanted to catch up here tonight. We had a good evening, went to the park with the scouts, and played tennis and kickball. The boys were all well behaved, and since they've all earned thier bear badges, I think the remainder of the year we'll try to keep them active for our den meetings.

If you keep them busy and active, you'll stay active... WIN-WIN!!

I am scheduled to teach 8 Jazzercise classes next week, so I should be able to keep the numbers where I want them.

Umm.... WOW!! THat is impressive!

I have to say it was REALLY great to go on a beach/cruise vacation and be happy with myself in a swimsuit. I got nice and tan too, which doesn't hurt.

The trip was indulgent to say the least. We did a 7 night Eastern Carib on the Magic followed by 8 days in Orlando hitting Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Discovery Cove, and Sea World. My parents took our kids to Kennedy Space Center too.

Here's a pic or two (or 4...):

Discovery Cove. We swam with fish, rays and dolphins, but the aviary was super too. This strange bird roosted on me!

So back to reality. Still waiting for the weather to warm up here. My tan's fading!

Marcy

The pictures are GREAT!! You DH is adorable! And you make a smokin' hot pirate wench!!

Did your family love DC? Mine did... especially DD and DH!

Good Friday morning Teams. We made it to Friday :cool1::cool1:

I have 1 week until spring break. I can't wait.

Yoga last night was great. I was really into it last night and was able to do a couple of moves that I couldn't do last week. I have a lot of trouble with balancing moves and did a couple last night better than I ever have:banana:

We don't have anything planned again this weekend. I do want to start to dismantle the family room so we can paint next week. We are planning to paint it a pale blue.

Hi to everyone else. Hope your weigh in goes well. I will be weighing in later.

Have to finish breakfast.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Hope Friday is a good one for you Dona!

Good morning, everyone! I am happy to be this week's coach and I'll be back later to catch up but wanted to post the QOTD.

Since I injured my knee in July 2009, I pretty much had to give up running and speedwalking and find new ways to get activity in every day. It has been an interesting experience and it has resulted in finding lots of fun ways to workout.

I usually play it by ear this time of year. If I am at home I mix it up between the TM (running, incline walking, speed walking, sprints), my own routines (usually some cardio, some strength, some plyometrics, some calesthenics), and videos (WATP, BL, etc). During the spring/summer I plan to have regular run days like I did last year.... probably run 3 mornings a week, strength two mornings, and other cardio one morning.

I don't have a favorite activity. I don't love running, but since I have told myself I don't HAVE to run, I find I don't mind moderately short runs occasionally.

I have never really worked out with someone else, except in a class setting at the Y, or the occasional walk with a friend.

I definitely need some new activities! DD tried a spinning class last Friday and has been RAVING about it ever since. I was going to attend with her tonight, but DS's school play is tonight. Maybe next week.

Well I didnt get my run in last night but I did run to and from the baseball field. The only this is its only about 1/4mile each way. I did fun fast though.;) Today starts my day of nuttiness. In about an hour we will be off and running and probably wont stop until 10 tonight. It should be a fun day off so I am not minding all I have to do.

It looks like the scale is slowly going down this week so hopefully I can contain myself over the weekend and see a loss on monday.

Stay safe and happy during your busy day!~! Fingers crossed for a good number on Monday!

Good morning all. I've been MIA and I'm 2 lbs in the past 2 week. Short version, death in the family, (Warning TMI coming), a terrible UTI, and I haven't had a cycle for 6 months so I took a week's dose of provera and am waiting for it to started. I am so bloated and I can actually see my stomach more rounded! I'm hoping once it starts those 2 pounds will come right off but that's probably just wishful thinking! My vacation is now 2 weeks away and I had hoped to be at least at my goal (4 lbs lower than now). I"m really hoping I can make it happen!

 Sorry things have been so nutty. Prayers for peace for the family loss and prayers for healing for the other issues. Hopefully the meds will start your personal clock ticking again!! I think when that happens, the bloat will disappear!

good morning everyone! happy friday! not too much planned today. no mommy and me class so we're just hanging out watching a really boring thomas the train movie. i need to get motivated to move but i'm feeling so lazy. i so wish the sun would come out.

have a great day everyone!!

Relax and enjoy the day! You will have plenty to keep you hopping when the new baby arrives!

When I used to occasionally get bored with the "routine" when I was home with the kids, I would find a reason to CELEBRATE the day. Even if I had to make up a holiday! Like National "Watch Arthur in your pajamas all day" Day!! I might make a special snack (one day I baked a small cake, let them use every bit of decorating stuff in the pantry to cover it.... then eat as much as they wanted!!), make up a new game (modified versions of things like I spy, checkers, go fish, memory), or fill my oversized jacuzzi tub with warm water and bath toys and let them "swim" to their hearts content!!

Ahhhh... those were the days. :cutie:

**********

SUPER HAPPY Friday everyone! Can anyone guess why it is a SUPER HAPPY day for me?? You thinking about it?? Okay.... I'll tell you. I LOST ALMOST 3 POUNDS THIS WEEK!! That is a HUGE percentage for me!! I know for you usual BIG losers, 3 pounds is not exactly out of the park, but honestly.... I couldn't be more thrilled!!!!

I am not giving ALL the credit to SB, but it definitely helped shake things ups. I also did NOT have my usual Friday or Saturday "splurge" last weekend and I got in THREE double workout days!!

Now to keep it off as I go into TOM week(s) coming up (at least, that is what the calendar says..... body may say something different:confused3 ).

I sincerely hope you can ALL have the same exciting news on the scale as I did today. I cannot begin to tell you how very, very much I needed that boost.

I will definitely be continuing my hybrid WW/SB for another week (as planned). I will try a bit harder to watch the carb counts on a few things that I kind of missed last week (who knew Benefiber was all carbs??).

Tonight's homemade pizza will be hardest to resist of anything all week probably (including baked oatmeal, pancakes, and penne with spinach and bacon!). But I've got a nice piece of gray sole waiting for me for tonight.

I'm at work today and this is my only break time, so I probably won't get back on here until at least 4pm, if even then. Otherwise I'll talk to you all in the morning!....................P

sent in my weigh in :) 220.2 today so that's a nice loss from last week.

I am slacking in the working out department though. all it's done all week is RAIN RAIN RAINNNN. AHHH my DD3 and I are getting cabin fever lol.

Good morning fellow losers!

DS is watching Toy Story 3 and I'm just finishing up a couple of returns. I'm hoping to take him to the mall for some shopping and to let him around around the play area for a bit. I need sandals in a big way.

Hi mates,
Just relaxing to Louis Armstrong in the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Great job to the losers last week. Not exactly keeping to Weight Watchers points plus but I am leaving food on the plate because I am satisfied and do not want to feel stuffed walking through the parks.

And Stinasmom, how was the cruise? Great job on losing the vacation weight!!

Now that's where I'd like to be right now. I miss Disney :lovestruc

I got most of my taxes done last night. I went on my laptop, plugged in some earphones and listened to DW music to keep me calm. Taxes went pretty good but I still have to go back and look at one deduction I did not take. I have to check over the boys and then we can send them out by Friday.

Best of luck, it's a relief once they're done. Let me tell you :rotfl:

It's all downhill now with tax season, Sue! :goodvibes

One week from today yahoo

QOTD for Friday April 8:

Have you searched out new activities to keep it diverse? Have you discovered any new activities that you have been surprised to find that you enjoy?

Not that I want to come off as a commercial, but I have been going to Jazzercise for 11 years now and have been an instructor for the last 5.
It's such a fun workout to great music. Cardio, stretch, strength training all packed into an hour. I LOVE to dance and love to keep up with music trends, plus I live in a small town, so our center is a bit of a social gathering too.
So, I have always been very fit, but didn't really watch my diet. Wasn't until I really cut back on carbs and wine :sad1: that I dropped 20+ pounds of fat.
It is a balance!

Next week I am teaching 3 regular Jazzercise classes, 3 Body Sculpting classes, and 2 "Ballet Body" specialty classes. So there is variety within the variety too.

I always joke that I like being told what to do. As a customer the instructor is there to tell you what to do. An instructor has VERY specific parameters within which he/she is to put together the proper set for a class and has to follow the choreography to a tee. But I do get to chose the music/routines within the ones we get (about 30 new ones every 10 weeks!). So, my classes can still reflect my personality, spirit and energy. :cheer2:

Thanks for all the comments on the pictures. We really did have a great vacation. It was our 4th DCL cruise, but my parents are completely sold and planning another one within the next couple years.

I may have worn them out a bit at the theme parks, but all in all we did very well. The kids are getting easier and easier each time we take a trip -- guess that comes with age!:thumbsup2

Have a great weekend everyone!

Marcy

Today was good. Lots of meetings for orientation. There are many many things to learn including the "language". It was a bit overwhelming, but people kept asking me which company I worked at before since I already seemed to "get it":lmao: Nope, I just pay attention. My schedule for the first 3 weeks is so variable and apparently it isn't 40 hours until after training :confused3 Today I worked 9 - 2:30 with a 1/2 hour lunch. Next Thursday and Friday I can't work at all because my supervisor/trainer is out. While I was excited to get normal paychecks from the get go I'm just glad to have the job search behind me and I'm still making more than I was so it's all good.

I had a brief meeting with the Regional manager and he commented several times on my color coordination with my outifit, jewerly and purse :lmao: I guess that's a good thing because he said that he judges people within the first 5 minutes of meeting them and he had briefly met me in the waiting area this morning and made is assessment then:upsidedow He proceeded to say that he sees me going places with the company and to ask for more challenges and better positions as I feel comfortable:goodvibes Maybe he tells everyone that, but it felt good to think that this isn't going to be a dead end job:thumbsup2 I was hired for my customer service skills and most of the employees there have only had to deal with the drivers or technicians so their skills might be a bit lacking when we take over all the incoming phone calls at the end of next month. I guess waitressing and bartending all these years does come in handy, who'd a thunk it?

YAY!!! Sounds like you ROCKED the first day and have a wonderful future with the company!

Yup! Cam, I am all over the journaling beginning Monday. This week is shot and I'm heading to Philly for the weekend and I know I will be including some not-so-smart food choices :confused3. I'm looking for a food journal app for any Droid...any ideas?

I finished my last individual assignment for my Bachelors degree!!

I'm waiting for team members to finish up their parts and then we'll get it turned in.

Its going to feel weird not doing school work now, :lmao:.

Trust me ...the feeling goes away rather quickly when life really kicks in and you can actually do things you want to do without having a paper or test hanging over your head! CONGRATS!!

Good morning, everyone! I am happy to be this week's coach and I'll be back later to catch up but wanted to post the QOTD.

My exercise plan is usually going to the gym for a workout. I've finally been able to go back to spin class so I try to do that 2x per week. I meet with a trainer for a 1/2 hour on Wednesdays and he usually works me out and then I stay for an additional hour to do cardio on the treadmill. My trainer also gives me a set of things to do for the week. I want to run...that has become my goal. I have never run anywhere in my life but I just signed up for my first 5K. It may take a while but I want to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon next February (2012). Lofty goal for me but I am determined!!

good morning everyone! happy friday! not too much planned today. no mommy and me class so we're just hanging out watching a really boring thomas the train movie. i need to get motivated to move but i'm feeling so lazy. i so wish the sun would come out.

Nancy, enjoy the lazy day :) Sometimes we all just need one of those...better yet, be lazy for me since I am stuck here is the office!

You can do it! Just one thing....."Write it BEFORE you bite it!!" No excuses that way!!

WOOOOOHOOOO! 3 pounds is amazing!!! I'm waiting for Monday to weigh in (it's my TOM and the bloat is adding some girth today). Thanks for the before-I-put-it-in-my-mouth advice. I think that will work so much better than the post-eating recap popcorn::.
Dinner sounds great for tonight! I keep forgetting the no meat Friday piece...thanks for the reminder! So far I have just had coffee and oatmeal so there is hope I will make it through the day meat-free.
Keep up the great work!!!

sent in my weigh in :) 220.2 today so that's a nice loss from last week.

I am slacking in the working out department though. all it's done all week is RAIN RAIN RAINNNN. AHHH my DD3 and I are getting cabin fever lol.

Hey any day that I see a downward trend on the scale is a good one!! Keep up the great work! I'm sooooo with you about the weather. The bad winter coupled with the now rainy spring is just a bummer! Hopefully this weekend it will warm up and we will see the sun again :flower3:

*********

So here we are again...FRIDAY!! It's been a crazy week of hurry up ...and wait but I have high hopes for the weekend! Off to Philly at 1pm to see my nephew for his birthday. I wrapped his presents last night - Buzz Lightyear light up sneakers, Perry from Phineas and Ferb, Phineas and Ferb gummy snacks and maybe some bath crayons (if I get myself to the store before we pick him up at daycare!). He had asked for cookies on the phone but my sister said he is on a pudding kick...THANK GOD! I didn't have to make chocolate chips last night and tempt myself with the batter!!

Book club is on Sunday evening and I have yet to finish the book! This is first for me. I'm always two weeks ahead of the meeting with my finish but this one has been hard to get into and therefore I have been procrastinating....I think the funeral stuff did me in as well.

I just heard last night that a friend of a friends sister committed suicide over the weekend. What the heck is going on!! I'm trying to get a team together for the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk for suicide prevention in NYC but it looks like I have to be at graduation that Sunday pretty early. No sleep+graduation = a very unhappy Karen.

So, have a wonderful Friday and weekend! I will be back on the boards on Monday :cheer2:

Wow, guess it's time to join the conversations here!

I have missed having the time to answer the QOTD's and keep up with everyone!

I am suprised at being the BL last week! I did put on 5 lbs on vacation but 3 came off pretty quick. Fessing up here... I am just under 5ft. tall and pretty much at my maintain weight, so 3 lbs is a decent percent loss.

Have no idea what tomorrow's number will be. I am still not sure about my "maintain" diet.

I am scheduled to teach 8 Jazzercise classes next week, so I should be able to keep the numbers where I want them.

I have to say it was REALLY great to go on a beach/cruise vacation and be happy with myself in a swimsuit. I got nice and tan too, which doesn't hurt.

What a trip. Disney Cruise is my FAVORITE vacation destination and the pics remind me how much I enjoy it.

And the scale only showed an increase of 1.6 pounds for the week. This should come off rather quickly for next week's weigh-in.

We had a great time but had to come home early which will be explained in the next thread.

Tell us about your workout routine. Do you have a schedule of what you'll do each day? What is your favorite activity? Do you prefer to workout alone or with a friend? Have you searched out new activities to keep it diverse? Have you discovered any new activities that you have been surprised to find that you enjoy?[/COLOR]

Right now my workout schedule is as follows:

Monday - 55 minute interval run
Tuesday - 60 minute basic walk at 4.0mph at 1% incline
Wednesday - 55 minute speed work out run
Thursday - 60 minute rolling hill walk
Friday - 55 minute interval run

I try to change my routine every 6 weeks or so. I've actually discovered that I really enjoy my rolling hill workout, surprisingly. It super tough, but I get such a feeling of accomplishment and strength afterwords :woohoo: I was soaked with sweat yesterday after my workout and DH asked if I went swimming :rotfl: It just feels good to know that I've worked my rear-end off :)

************

Not much going on over here today again. Working on my water and have my easy Friday run in about an hour. Having spaghetti for dinner and Lean Cuisine for lunch.

Somehow or another this weekend I really need to make my way to our storage place to get Easter decorations out. I've really been slacking on my decorating since we moved about 2 years ago and I need to pick it up again now that DS is old enough to appreciate it :)

I'm really dreading the weather this weekend, it's going to be near 90s here in Texas. I really think I live in the wrong part of the country. I know you guys won't believe me, especially those of you that live in snow regions, but I swear I'm allergic to sunlight :scared1: For as long as I can remember, the sun and heat has given me migranes, etc. This normally only happens when I stay in the sun more than 2 hours. Needless to say, vacations with my family when I was younger to places like Six Flags, Sea World, etc. sometimes turned into a horror show :headache: Anyways, it's gotten a little better since I've gotten older, but dread spring/summertime :guilty: If it's possible, I dread spring/summertime the way most of you dread winter. Sigh, oh well. I have found that if I wear a baseball cap outside the effects are delayed giving me 4 hours or so outside. :cool2:

Anyways, that's my sad story :goodvibes

Hope you guys have a great day and a great weekend!

Nicole :flower3:

and we were on the deck checking out the animals when I got a call from my friend/Associate Pastor regarding an issue with a display we had used for our Haiti fundraiser. As he was saying "bye" he mentioned he was sorry about our grandson. So I stopped him and asked to explain as we had no idea what was going on (our daughter was struggling within herself on whether she should call us or wait until we got home, poor girl)

Anyway, our little Caleb was having a difficult time focusing on things and they had him checked. What the doctors discovered was that he has a cancer called retinablastoma (spelling?) that is on the back part of both eyes. This is, I do believe, not life threatening, but can result in loss of his eyes. So we got the news and changed our plans to come back home to be with her and our son-in-law.

I guess they grade this cancer from A (best case) to E (worst case) and Caleb is at a "B", so that is great news. And the specialist is confident it was found early enough to treat with chemotherapy to remove the tumors. So we are very pleased with the initial reports. They are discussing treatment options as we speak.

I will keep you, my teammates who are family to me now, updated as to his progress. And if you desire to lift up prayers for him I ask for the following:

1. Removal of the tumors
2. The marriage of this young couple remains strong.
3. The we, the parents, can remain strong for the kids.
4. That Caleb grows to be a strong young man.

Thanks for your support teammates.

Dave--I am so sorry. I will be sending good thoughts your way for a speedy and complete recovery. Please take good care of yourself. Caleb needs a healthy grandpa.

Marcy--great pictures--thanks for sharing.:goodvibes

Cam--I think it's perfectly fine to do the journaling challenge on this thread.:goodvibes

Pamela--you go girl! Good for you!:goodvibes

Someone was talking about living in France and how they ate when they were there. I actually have a book--I think it's called "why the French don't diet" and it is what I base my weight loss plan on. It talks about portion control, slow eating and eating high quality good food.

QOTD for Friday April 8:Tell us about your workout routine. Do you have a schedule of what you'll do each day? What is your favorite activity? Do you prefer to workout alone or with a friend? Have you searched out new activities to keep it diverse? Have you discovered any new activities that you have been surprised to find that you enjoy?

I workout usually 6 days a week--at least when I'm not injured.
M--60 minute group strength class at the Y and sometimes a mile or so on the elliptical
T--run 4 miles :)
W--repeat Monday :goodvibes
R--run 4 miles :)
F--zumba and a mile or so on the elliptical (zumba is new for me, but I really like it)
S--Long Run (between 6 and 12 miles depending on the schedule
Sunday--off

And I have a running partner.:) And I actually heard him telling someone that we run stride for stride together--and we do. In every picture from the Princess we were stride for stride until the last mile. I think we were just really tired at that point--or at least I know I was!

Since the injury, I have had to add in rehab and shift things around a little depending on how I feel, but I have stuck with it and I'm really proud of myself for not letting the injury be a reason to quit.:goodvibes

Sorry I have not done many replies today. Just dealing with a little bit of stuff at home.

Thank you Lisa for coaching last week and Cam for coaching this week.:goodvibes

Please don't forget to include your TEAM NAME when you pm Tracey today.

Dave....many many many thoughts and prayers being sent your way :goodvibes:goodvibes

Kids are strong and can bounce back in ways that us adults can't even imagine. Stay Strong!!!
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Lisa – Thank you so much for coaching last week. All of you who have coached this challenge certainly set the bar pretty high for those of us who come after! :goodvibes I particularly enjoyed all the sparkpeople articles, Lisa. Thank you for sharing!

Marcy – You look so beautiful! I am so happy that you were happy with the pictures. You really do look fabulous! It is so wonderful that you have a career that you enjoy and that facilitates your activity.

We are not forcasted to be lower than mid 50's for the next 10 days although there is alot of rain and thunderstorms being predicted. Yay well at least it will still be warmer....April showers bring May flowers.:flower3:

*****************************************************

Well I didnt get my run in last night but I did run to and from the baseball field. The only this is its only about 1/4mile each way. I did fun fast though.;) Today starts my day of nuttiness. In about an hour we will be off and running and probably wont stop until 10 tonight. It should be a fun day off so I am not minding all I have to do.

It looks like the scale is slowly going down this week so hopefully I can contain myself over the weekend and see a loss on monday.
Lindsay – I hope the day is turning out to be less crazy than you expected. Yep, rain here, too. Andrew’s drumline is performing tonight at a soccer game, so I am hoping the rain ends before about 6 pm.
Keep up the great effort toward a good weigh in Monday! :thumbsup2

I’m sorry for your family’s loss. I hope you will see downward movement on the scale before your vacation. For the bloating, I have really found that green tea helps me.
good morning everyone! happy friday! not too much planned today. no mommy and me class so we're just hanging out watching a really boring thomas the train movie. i need to get motivated to move but i'm feeling so lazy. i so wish the sun would come out.

have a great day everyone!!

Sorry the movie is boring, but I’m glad you get a bit of a break today. I hope you are taking very good care of yourself. Feeling any better with the vitamins? I remember someone suggested taking them later in the day. Have you found that anything helps yet?
I'll join you, ladies! :goodvibes I think that the challenge can be done on this thread -- we can always move it if it gets to be too much but I'd like to not have another thread to keep up on if I can help it. ;)
. . . :sunny:
…..Going to lunch with DH today. We need to get out more and do things that aren't related to home improvement or work! :hippie:

Lisa--Thanks for joining the journaling challenge. I’ll update the list here soon. And I’m with you – I’d love to not have another thread to keep up with. I have a feeling I am going to have my hands full for the foreseeable future. So, what are you training for next? Any good training plan will advocate for rest days, so I am glad you are getting them in. Have a great lunch with DH! (I hope it is something easily journaled – don’t you just abhor having to write down “ugly” meals in your journal? LOL!

Got up at 5 and did the 3 mile WATP with weights. Then I got Ash up and we walked to the wellness center. She got on the bus there and I walked home.
….
Wow! Tracey, I am totally exhausted just READING what you have already accomplished!! Kudos to you for getting up early and getting in such a huge workout. :thumbsup2 I hope the movies arrive and that you find time to relax and enjoy them this weekend.

You can do it! Just one thing....."Write it BEFORE you bite it!!" No excuses that way!!
Did you see my post? I'm in for the journaling challenge!! And can't wait to hear about your "WOOSH" next week!
…..

Pamela – CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must be so happy to know that your food sacrifices have yielded hugely wonderful results on the scale. I am so glad for you!!! And I personally think you are the journal journal goddess!! :cutie: Thank you for joining us in the food challenge. I hope your positive influence rubs off on me in a big way. Your dinner sounds delicious. Enjoy!

sent in my weigh in :) 220.2 today so that's a nice loss from last week.

I am slacking in the working out department though. all it's done all week is RAIN RAIN RAINNNN. AHHH my DD3 and I are getting cabin fever lol.
Congratulations on your loss!! Keep up the great work! I hope you see the :sunny: soon!

DS is watching Toy Story 3 and I'm just finishing up a couple of returns. I'm hoping to take him to the mall for some shopping and to let him around around the play area for a bit. I need sandals in a big way.
Have fun shopping! I just ordered sandals for our cruise – my feet are so wide that I usually end up at Naturalizer. They have a nice 25% off code right now. If you (or anyone) wants it, PM me. :)

Yup! Cam, I am all over the journaling beginning Monday. …
It may take a while but I want to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon next February (2012). Lofty goal for me but I am determined!!
Off to Philly at 1pm to see my nephew for his birthday. I wrapped his presents last night - Buzz Lightyear light up sneakers, Perry from Phineas and Ferb, Phineas and Ferb gummy snacks and maybe some bath crayons (if I get myself to the store before we pick him up at daycare!)…
Book club is on Sunday evening and I have yet to finish the book!

I hope you have fun in Philly. You are a super-cool Aunt! Those gifts sound wonderful. Your workout schedule is very impressive. After all that, training for a ½ marathon would not be a huge leap for you. You can DEFINITELY do it! What book are you reading? Anything fun?
And the scale only showed an increase of 1.6 pounds for the week.
Dave – That is not bad at all. I am sorry you had to come home early. I will keep Caleb and your whole family in my prayers. Thank you for the guidance on how we can help, specifically.
Right now my workout schedule is as follows:

Monday - 55 minute interval run
Tuesday - 60 minute basic walk at 4.0mph at 1% incline
Wednesday - 55 minute speed work out run
Thursday - 60 minute rolling hill walk
Friday - 55 minute interval run
Nicole, Your workout schedule is impressive! I love the idea of cycling through different routines every 6 weeks. That would prevent boredom and for me, knowing I only had to stick with a particular schedule for 6 weeks, knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel when I can change it up. Great idea!! :thumbsup2

I workout usually 6 days a week--at least when I'm not injured.
M--60 minute group strength class at the Y and sometimes a mile or so on the elliptical

Rose – Your workout schedule is impressive; I know PT/rehab is so time-consuming; you’ll remember me complaining about investing all that time in those sessions and wishing I could spend it doing something cardio instead. I also remember you telling me that the time was a workout and well-spent. I think that it is very sweet that you and Mike run together. It must be great quality couple time for you, even if you are not chatting or anything. Just the “being together” is great. I hope things calm down a bit and you can relax this weekend.

Okay, I have been working on this all morning and keep adding to it. ;) Guess I’d better let it fly now.

Have I missed anyone? How did everyone do yesterday? I journaled every bite, even the 5 peanuts I ate. LOL! I must confess that having nearly the same breakfast every morning makes it a bit easier to journal - sometimes I can't remember what I ate an hour ago and if I don't journal it right away at least I know what was for breakfast. ;)

Dave,

I will put your grandson, Caleb, in my prayers this week!

I'm doing the Relay for Life and am adding him to the list of who I am walking for!

Client is arriving so I will post more later!

TTFN :tigger:

Oops! I didn't respond to the QOTD yet.

I used to work out 6-7 days a week, including wogging (walking/jogging) at least 3 times/week with a "long run" on the weekends. Since I destroyed my knee and am still rehabbing from the reconstruction, I have had to find other things to do. Right now, I am using a bunch of DVDs as well as OnDemand Fitness TV free workout programs. I don't have any type of structured schedule of what I'll do, but enjoy playing it by ear for now based on the time of day, how much time I have to workout and how my knee and hips feel. My favorite workouts right now are:

Billy Blanks Jr.'s Cardio Fit DVD (love the HipHop, Country and Bollywood workouts!) and his FitnessTV free programs

Many Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds DVDs as well as her FitnessTV walking programs she developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association

Jennifer Galardi's 10 minute standing abs workout

Biggest Loser walking DVD

There are SO many cool free workouts on ON DEMAND, including belly dancing, sculpting, etc. What a gold mine I discovered!

I also try to get to the Y one night a week for 30-60 minutes on the elliptical, and I am gradually adding treadmill workouts with jogging intervals.

I have a dear friend who is also participating (very successfully) in this challenge (pjstevens) with whom I used to exercise or wog 3-4 mornings a week. She always kept me accountable and I felt like I worked out harder or went further when I was with a friend and it was more enjoyable - we are going to start doing some outside interval training together tomorrow if the weather holds out. I am both excited and nervous as heck. ;)
