Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

My info, with a little updating:

BernardandMissBianca aka BAMB, hey you, yo mom, mama (when my kids want something, lol) but y'all can call me BAMB or Buffy.
I'm ahem....37. cough cough....
I've been married to DH for 18 years and have 4 kids, three boys ages 14, 10, 9 and one girl age 4.
I'm a SAHM, or as I like to call it a Never at home mom.
I moderate the Craft boards here on the DIS.

I'm here cause I'm fat. Plain and simple. But I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. DS14 and I have committed to the Everest Challenge in May so I have 5 months(now one month) to get my butt in shape. Y'all have got to help me!!! I do NOT want to disappoint him! He's a cross country runner and is eager to get running again.

Our first step is to no eating out challenge. I challenged the kids to a whole month of no eating out. Each kid has a day of kitchen duty where they pick the meal and help prepare it. Hasn't been working so well. Trying to regroup for April

Second step is carving out time to work out. I'm doing couch to 5K. I've had to start over due to an injury but I'm back on track now. I'm getting my treadmill back from mom tomorrow. Got the treadmill back but it's dying. Shopping for a new one. Got up to C25K week 5, stopped because of foot pain, trying to restart week 4 tomorrow.

Anyway that's my epic novel so far!!

I would like to join the Biggest Loser. I have lost about 20 pounds over the last 8 months. But I am kind of stuck right now. So I need a little incentive to keep going. I have another 25 or so to lose by August. I have my 30th high school reunion then and my daughter's wedding is August 27th. Thanks!

Welcome Eva!! I love the name! My DMIL and one of DD's best friends both are named Eva! It is so lovely!

Two big events coming up for you! Glad you decided to join us here!

I've been bad about checking in again and this being my first visit since the merger...WOW, things are really moving quickly! It's been fun reading and getting to know everyone.

I'll start today with a quick (re)introduction. My name is Lori. I've recently turned 44 (not sure how that happened:rolleyes1) and have been married to my DH for almost 19 years. I'm a mostly SAHM to my two DD, but manage to keep plenty busy like the rest of you. My weight has bounced up and down since college, and in 2008 I managed a 30+ pound weight loss. Unfortunately, it all came back. (why is it I can't find lost things when I need them, but the weight shows right back up?)

I decided to join this challenge to try and motivate myself to stay on track and so far, the Donalds have helped me tremendously. I have some good news to share this week and am happy to be able to share with the new, bigger team! I finally managed the one pound loss I needed to return to ONE-derland! :dance3: I know I've said it before, but this time I mean it...I'm never going back!! Reading some of your stories and seeing the success many of you are having is really motivating! I have a long way to go, but I know that small steps will end with great rewards!

Regarding the QOTD, on our last trip to WDW I used an app on my phone to keep a detailed journal of our every move. As a family we would take our notes while in queues or on busses and while we never posted the intended TR, we have a great diary of our vacation!

Gotta run for now...I've already spent waaayyyy too much time reading and catching up here.

Glad you found us! And WELCOME to One-derland!!!!

I've had those red plastic strawberries too.:lmao: The roasted cauliflower is my absolute favorite, but I'll have to try the brocolli. Bummer on wishes being only one night. I hope it gets changed as the trip nears. 38 days will fly by. So excited for you!!

It's cold and windy, so I'm procrastinating my run/walk. I need to do it though. My eating is back on track, and we have leftovers from sat night for dinner tonight, and tomorrow's lunch, so I have no excuse not to get my exercise in. So ready for spring to really come and stay.

I KNOW that the 38 days will fly by...... but I'm trying to enjoy the anticipation and planning! Everything is booked.... hotel, air, rental car. I got my Park Hoppers in the mail last week and I've got my secret cash stash ready to go! I was honestly considering taking out the suitcases this past weekend, but realized I didn't want to be looking at them or tripping over them for the next 30+ days.... so I'll wait a bit longer.

How did the run go? I just haven't been able to motivate myself to walk/run outside. When I try to run in the cold I end up wheezing (or what feels like wheezing to me) for the next few hours! Plus I hate that feeling of my head, ears, nose, and hands freezing, but my chest is sweating! ICK. More power to you if you get out there in this weather!

Feeling so run down today! I gave my co=worker a massage since my other client called in sick with a sinus infection. Wish she had called my cell phone like I asked her too so I didn't have to leave my house today. I would've taken a nap or just gone back to bed. Oh well! I've had a shake for b'fast and lunch and then had some M&Ms and chips. PMS is kicking my butt today plus being tired from the weekend.

Running up to Salem, NH in the morning to pick up our taxes and also pick up Tangled! Can't wait to watch it again! Unfortunately that may have to wait until the weekend!

Watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince again! Izzie's choice! Can't wait until Deathly Hallows part 1 comes out so we can watch that again!

Ash is home from school! UGH another project. She has choices and of course picks the one that I can't really help her with as I don't sew! Maybe I can convince her to do the game project!

Gotta get her to do her homework and then start dinner since she has dancing tonight!

TTFN :tigger:

Sorry you're feelng poorly. Hopefully it won't last long. I took DS to see the Deathly Hallows part 1 this weekend at the second run theater. I didn't understand most of it, since I've never read the books or seen the other movies (other than bits and pieces when the kids were watching).

I hate school projects! I am SO GLAD my kids are finally old enough to handle them totallly independently!

Hi Everyone!!! This is my first time on the merged thread. Its nice to "see" everyone again. For those I dont know. My name is Jeanette. Im newly engaged and planning my October wedding. I have been on my final weight loss journey since last January. I have lost 60 pounds and am wrestling with the final 5:confused3 I never thought I could make it this far, but Im very happy I have thanks to the help of this BL board, friends, and my dedication.

So I had a nice long weekend. I worked more on my fish extender and gifts for my upcoming cruise. I attended a craft fair where I found someone who can make my birdcage veil. I also went to the Disneyland Hotel last night to eat at Steakhouse 55:cloud9: Everytime I go to that hotel, I always try to convince my DF that we should stay there for the night even though we dont even have any clothes packed :rotfl: Maybe one day I will convince him. Steakhouse 55 was fantastic like always- food and service. They have these great pictures on the walls with different celebrities like Shirley Temple, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, etc. The waiter told us that the majority of those pictures were taken there. I had no idea that the restaurant has been there for so many years. It made me like the place even more.

I have exactly one month till I leave on my cruise. My plan is to lose these last five pounds by then. Now that I have told you all, hopefully it shall happen!:goodvibes

Jeanette

The steakhouse sounds really great! What did you eat?

What is a birdcage veil??

Hi everyone! I'm have been reading the disboards for a while now and finally decided to join in the fun. I live on Long Island and work full time in the "Big Apple". I have a wonderful BF and two adorable cats.

I joined the spring challange for motivation and encouragement to lose weight and live heathier.

Reese:flower3:

Welcome Reese!! I'm sure Rose (our hostess) will be along soon to welcome you and get you set up!! (If she hasn't already!)

I hope everyone has had a good day. I went to the chiropractor after work to be tortured, oh I mean to have my itb rehabbed.:thumbsup2 It is just excruciating. Then I went to the Y and did 3 miles on the elliptical and lifted weights and did my rehab exercises. Anyhow, sorry I didn't do replies today. I'm feeling a little stressed out about "stuff" but hopefully will be back on track tomorrow.:goodvibes Oh, and some good news, I think I am going to lower my maintain weight a pound or two this week, so that's kind of exciting.:goodvibes

Have a great evening everyone.:goodvibes

 for the "stuff".

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! :wave2:

I just pm tigger813 my starting weight. I am a bit heavier today because we just had a weekend away. But I find that comes off pretty fast. It's the weight that creeps up on you that is tough to get rid of.

Our next trip to WDW is the second week of May. DH and I are running in the Expedition Everest 5K on the 7th. Wish us luck! It is our first race.

Buffy (BernardandMissBianca) is running that too, as well as another Dis'er (Emily.... but I can't remember her Disname! maybe DisneylandEm??)! DD and I will be there at the same time (but we opted not to run the race). Be sure to talk here about possibly meeting up with Buffy and Emily!

Good evening all! The salmon chowder was good.... better than last time, since I added garlic, onion, and celery... but still a bit bland.... and I cannot figure out what else it needs!! Wish I was a better cook. But DS and DH really loved it, so it can't be that bad!!

I had a handful of nuts a few minutes ago because I realized I was waaaaay behind on my points today... but wow... they go down too quick and do NOTHING to fill me up!! Maybe my treat of a Skinny Cow sundae will fill me though....;) Off to hit the shower before I watch DWTS!!.........P

Interesting travel update. I am headed to WDW with DH in April for his conference. One of the guys who is going is a runner and did the Warrior Dash last year in Texas.
Maybe I'll get a running partner out of the deal but he might kick my butt.

Does anyone know if the Contemporary has a gym?

Disneyland Emily.

Eva, Em, and I have been chatting on occasion on the Everest Thread.

I'm soooooo not ready!! LOL

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 12!
This week’s group loss is 36.4 lbs

Total group weight loss for both teams so far 1153.0 pounds! WOW!!!!!

AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

SO much quicker to only post one set of results!

Getting some help this weekend at church with her project costume. We have someone who has a lot of Revolutionary War stuff for girls. Maybe this project won't be so bad!

Feeling a bit peppier tonight! I should try and go to bed early tonight. I have errands to do before work tomorrow so I will listen to some more podcasts on the road or listen to Kingdom Keepers 1 audiobook!

Picked the week for sewing camp for Ash. I have to sign her up for that on April 9th. I have to sign the kids ups for dancing for next fall on Friday afternoon. I'll also sign them up for their other camps next week as well.

Watching Dancing with the Stars.

I had a 3 pound gain last week. Probably from the previous weekend and will probably still have a bit of a gain by the end of this week. I will try and get up tomorrow but I'll just have to see if I actually get to sleep early tonight!

TTFN :tigger:

Click the multi quotes on the ones you want to use, go to the thread you want to post them on and you can also multi quote there. Then click the Reply button. The posts from that thread will show up in the box. Scroll down to the bottom of the shaded part (where the posting box and smilies are) and there will be a small line that says something to the effect of "You have x posts from other threads" and you have the option to select these posts or deselect these posts. Select them and they will show up in your posting box to be posted on the thread you are currently on.

You should also be able to multi quote on one thread, then click reply, highlight and copy all of the text then go to the next thread and click reply and paste them into the box. But the way above is actually easier.

Ah ha! I knew it had to work somehow. I was determined to get it in there one way or another :rotfl:

DVCCruiser- I will definitely let you know when we do another meet. Nothing in the works that I know of now. We are talking about one at the Earl of Sandwich when it opens in Boston.

I read about that. I think it's scheduled for April 2012 I read somewhere. That should be yummy popcorn::

i have a 21 month old DS and he too is OBSESSED with toy story. he doesn't say really any words but when you ask him if he wants to watch buzz it's always, "yeah!!" thank goodness the toy story movies are so good!

i'm hoping to get to a kickboxing class tonight. i wanted to go last week but OF COURSE DH got a flat tire and didn't make it home until the class was half over. hopefully i'll get there tonight!

Dylan is the same way. When I say Buzz he nods his head and says yes. It's too cute

I miss kickboxing. When Bally's was open near here I used to go twice a week. Then they closed, I got married, pregnant and now I have a little one at home, so I'm pretty much stuck with my kickboxing DVDs. It's just not the same :sad2:

Sounds good. I'll plan to start the week, and do fri, sat, sun. That works fine since I have more free time on the weekends anyway.

Yesterday after the movie went out for thai food, which I've only had once, so my brother and sil ordered and we shared, but spring rolls and tempura were delicious, and i definitely ate too much.

Sounds like a plan! Sign me up :goodvibes Where did you go for Thai?

:wave2: Just a quick check in. Started off the morning in Urgent Care with DD11 getting her thumb x-rayed. It has been causing her terrible pain to move it since yesterday. Fortunately nothing broken, so just diagnosed as a Sprained Thumb and put a huge splint on it to keep it immobilized mostly just to make her more comfortable.

Hope DD11 is feeling better

My interview this morning seemed to go well. It is at a VA Hospital in the billing office. They want to make a decision by the end of the week, but apparently have many interviews between now and then. All that I can do is hope for the best.

Here's hoping it all works out :wizard:

Just 38 days until my Mother/Daughter trip to WDW! We are getting really excited! Gotta find some time this week to try on all our shorts and t-shirts. We have a few matching t's (some we already had and one set we just bought). Would like more but haven't found anything great yet.

Yahoo for your WDW trip :cool1:

I also went to the Disneyland Hotel last night to eat at Steakhouse 55:cloud9: Everytime I go to that hotel, I always try to convince my DF that we should stay there for the night even though we dont even have any clothes packed :rotfl: Maybe one day I will convince him. Steakhouse 55 was fantastic like always- food and service.

How far of a drive is it for you? Have you ever been to Napa Rose? I went years ago and would love to go back.

I joined the spring challange for motivation and encouragement to lose weight and live heathier.

Welcome :)

Interesting travel update. I am headed to WDW with DH in April for his conference.

It'll be here before you know it

Great job everyone! Go KristiMc :woohoo:

We have had a strange day here {grumpy DH (bad day), unstocked shelves, and long lines at the grocery store - had to substitute the stuff they were out of! DD ran over my heel with the cart (she was so upset), and when I got out to the vehicle I cracked my head on the "handle to help you pull yourself in" (is that the official name of that piece of equipment?) Anyhow, I tried to buy a Leslie Sansone DVD so I would start exercising, (was excited to start 1st thing tomorrow) but when we got home and put stuff away - the DVD was no where to be found. A call to the store assures us it was left behind, but now my motivation is gone. DD1 opened the cupboard on DD2's face, leaving a nasty red mark on her nose! DH just found out that a shipment he needed by Wed. will not be here until April 18th!} :sad2:
Anyhow, I was OP today, and it is almost bedtime (whew!) Tomorrow we will laugh about it all! Have a great night everyone!

QOTD:

I have done some dining reviews and then a TR for my last trip.
tggrrstarr, can you provide us with a link to your dining review? I would love to check it out. :goodvibes
I will try to post the link soon, I just need to switch to my laptop. I will try to check yours out tomorrow!

We love berries, but it kills me to pay for them, and then they're not good. I've been buying the frozen Wylers raspberries and putting them in my yogurt. They're pretty good but a little tart. Hope you can sneak some time in to dis during your work day today.;)

We had a nice weekend with my brother and his family, but I did indulge too much. Though, I ate a good dinner saturday, but my other brother brought minicupcakes which are my nemesis lately, and I ate a few of them. Yesterday after the movie went out for thai food, which I've only had once, so my brother and sil ordered and we shared, but spring rolls and tempura were delicious, and i definitely ate too much. Again, today is a new day, and I stepped on the scale and i actually was the same as friday, so I know if I can get and stay on track for the rest of the week, I can still see a loss.

Hope you all have a nice monday.
I have gotten to the point lately that my Saturdays and Sundays negate each other, so my "losing" takes place Mon - Thurs!
Whole Foods has a berry container with 4 kinds of berries but it is kinda expensive. I finally realized it's much cheaper than buying four containers of berries and having half of each go to waste if I don't get to it.

Monday QOTD: Yes, I've done a few trip reports. I find it much easier to bring my laptop with me and type up each days happenings just before bed. Sometimes it is hard as I am exhausted, but it is always nice to read through later. We are not foodies so no interest in doing a dining review.

I thought that I had finally kicked my cold on Friday, but the last couple of days has brought a new cold or a flare up of the first one. Last night I had terrible cramps for hours before the bathroom runs started. Of course I have my interview at 11 this morning. I've taken dimetapp and cough syrup so hopefully things will be under control for the interveiw.

Youngest son had trouble falling asleep last night, then was up at 12:15 to go to the potty. He was sure that he was starving so I fixed him a snack before he went back to sleep. He was miserable getting up this morning and just wanted to stay home to sleep. I made him go to school since I cannot be home with him today. Hopefully he fully woke up and is doing fine now. He should be able to get to bed a bit earlier tonight if he chooses too.

DH will be busy with all 3 boys having lacrosse at different times. Of course DH coaches Hunter's group which is from 7-8 PM. I work tonight so I'm no help. He might as well adjust, such is life.
I always try to journal my trips, but I never thought of doing it on the computer! Im glad your interview went well, hopefully it works out, even if it's only a year.
Here's the link where I found my rolling hills workout: http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/treadmill-workout-run-incline/page/2

I didn't go quite as fast as 4mph, I just went up to 3.7 because I'm sure my legs are no where near as long as the audience that this was intended for :lmao: And it is a great workout!

I hope you get your bonus at work :yay:
I think next week I'll also prepare snack bags for the refrigerator at home, that way when I get home from work, starving to death, I can just reach in and grab a bag of grapes or whatever and steer clear of the bad things left out on the counters.
The bonus is going to happen:) now it's just a matter of how much!
One of the recipes in my new cookbook is a vanilla cream cheese dip that is only 33 calories per serving, so yummy with fruit.

:wave2: Just a quick check in. Started off the morning in Urgent Care with DD11 getting her thumb x-rayed. It has been causing her terrible pain to move it since yesterday. She has no idea how she might have hurt it, she doesn't remember doing anything. :confused3 She has a pretty high pain tolerance so I am sure she just didn't even realize she had done something when it happened. But since she really doesn't complain about pain when she is standing there crying because it hurts so much I know there is a major problem. Fortunately nothing broken, so just diagnosed as a Sprained Thumb and put a huge splint on it to keep it immobilized mostly just to make her more comfortable.

Finally got her to school and I just got home and now have to find breakfast/lunch and get some things done so no time to hang on the computer right now.
I hope it gets better soon, I did something similar to my finger years ago and it wasn't fun.

This weekend was a successful one for me for reasons too......
I'm the leader of my DD9's girl scout troop and also the cookie mom.
We wrapped up our cookie sales with our final booth sale on Saturday morning. :cool1::cool1:I was a little worried when we only sold a few boxes in the first hour, but luckily sales really picked up and we sold out by end!!!! What a relief that was. I always worry that I'm going to have tons of cookies left over and no way to get rid of them. I am soooooo happy to have all of those cookies out of my house!!!!! (As you all can imagine)

I'm headed out to lunch with my sister....She's one of my best friends and we haven't been out for a while so I'm really excited to see her. We're going to a great place called First Watch that serves only breakfast and lunch. I always get the "Triathlete Omelet"...It's an egg white omelet with vegetables and salsa, served with a fruit cup and dry English muffin on the side.....it's really tasty!!!

I hope everyone has a super day!:banana::banana::banana:
My coworker left his daughters cookies at work last year and we just kept snacking on them, I was so happy when they were gone!
There is a First Watch near us but I haven't tried it yet.

Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! :wave2:

I just pm tigger813 my starting weight. I am a bit heavier today because we just had a weekend away. But I find that comes off pretty fast. It's the weight that creeps up on you that is tough to get rid of.

I have never had a weight problem until I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem 6 years ago. Then I quit smoking 4 years ago. So the weight has just crept right up on me. I gained 45 pounds over about a 5 year time frame. I have lost about 20 pounds over the last 8 months. But it is time to get serious and lose the next 25 or so.

I manage a group of office admins at a church. But I don't sit as much as you would think. It is actually this new job that has helped me. I am constantly running up and down the stairs to help the different admins with setting up rooms or with computer issues. I am pretty active at work most days. I have been staying away from processed food and sugar as much a possible. But the church has snacks like cupcakes and muffins around all the time. It can be torture!

tiger813, I love Harry Potter too! I have all the movies on DVD. But I have them on my DVR too for quick access. When I can't sleep at night I watch one as my kind of comfort movie. Weird I know.

As I said before, my 30th high school reunion is in August. And my daughter is getting married that month too. I really need to get as much of this weight off by the end of June. I need to order my dress no later than then. Our next trip to WDW is the second week of May. DH and I are running in the Expedition Everest 5K on the 7th. Wish us luck! It is our first race.

Welcome! I will be doing my first 5k at Disney early next year, have fun at Everest!

Well, I plan on trying to sleep in tomorrow, so I'm posting the QOTD now.

QOTD 3/29/11 Tuesday
Have you ever used a personal trainer or considered signing up for one? Some gyms give away free sessions when you sign up. Do you think it would help you or do you think you can do it on your own?

I have used a free trial at two different gyms. After the first time, I wasn't impressed. But the trainer I got at my current gym was really good. If I had the money I would keep it up. I learned quite a bit.

Hi I am Becky. I am 28 and live in Pennsylvania. I have been overweight basically my whole life. A few years ago I got my act together and lost almost 70 pounds, broke my foot and wasn't allowed to put weight on it for months so I started gaining. I did lose weight again and then I started gaining again. Part of this gain was a huge cyst that when removed have 2 1/2 gallons of fluid removed from it. I would like to lose about 80 pounds. Get healthy and be more active.

I have signed up for the January 2012 half marathon. I want to complete a half before my 30th birthday so I am determined to do this. First point of business is to get fitted for shoes, which should be fun as my feet are not within the normal shoe size range.

In addition I am currently getting ready for a trip to the West coast~ California, visiting relatives, Disneyland, Disney Wonder, San Francisco, Victoria, Vancouver and then Seattle. In 26 days I leave for this trip. I hope to lose 5 pounds before I leave.

Congrats to all the losers and maintainers. If you gained hang in there and make positive choices in the future.

Good Tuesday morning Teams

COngrats to all the losers this week especially KristiMc.:banana:

Where did the morning go? I don't have any time to talk this morning. I did finish reading all the replies. Nice to have an active thread even if it moves fast.

Have a happy and healthy day. Will be back later.

I hate when I wake up more tired then when I went to bed! I had strange dreams most of the night and have been awake off and on since 3:42 when Brian got up for a few minutes. Reset the alarm for 6 while he was up and then dozed off and on until the alarm went off again.

Need to leave here by 9:30 so I can get back to work and make my two stops in Salem. I can't wait to see Tangled again! I may just come home and watch it today. I may possibly take a quick walk after work to get me going again. I should have about 45 minutes from the time I get home until Ash gets home so I may try and do some laps around the neighborhood then if it's not too chilly.

Need to stay OP today. I'll do my tea and shake definitely for breakfast and a protein bar for lunch. I think we're doing chicken burgers tonight and I'm bound and determined to get back on that elliptical tonight.

Time to get Ash moving!

TTFN :tigger:

Hey guys! I just wanted to say how much I enjoy seeing y'all still participating in the WIN Challenge. If any of you meant to send in your numbers and haven't, bring 'em on! I'll be compiling results Tuesday or Wednesday evening.

Good morning everyone! Connie posted this on the team threads, and I wanted to make sure everyone saw it.:goodvibes

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

When Bally's was open near here I used to go twice a week.
Sounds like a plan! Sign me up :goodvibes Where did you go for Thai?
I used to go to Bally's too. It was when I worked nights, and a few of us would go in the morning after work, but we were zombies some times, but it was fun to go as a group.
We went to the salem theater, and ate at the thai place in the mall there. I hear Sawasdee is supposed to be good.

I am impressed with all that you stayed on program. Nice work. I probably would have hit the liquor cabinet.:rotfl2: Hope today is perfect.

I have gotten to the point lately that my Saturdays and Sundays negate each other, so my "losing" takes place Mon - Thurs!
I think that's what makes this liveable. It's not letting the weekends go so out of control that you can't lose what you've gained by friday.

QOTD 3/29/11 Tuesday
Have you ever used a personal trainer or considered signing up for one? Some gyms give away free sessions when you sign up. Do you think it would help you or do you think you can do it on your own?
I haven't, and right now don't have consistent time I can get to a gym. I am thinking of taking a running class on saturday mornings for intermediate runners. I heard the teacher is really helpful and give lots of tips how to improve your speed, teaches you drills, etc. That's the closest I'll get to a personal trainer for a while.

Whoo hoo!! So excited you get to go to wdw! I would hope they have a gym at the contemporary, with the prices you pay, but don't know, I only dream of staying there. I price it out every trip, and then stay value.

Jeanette
Hi Jeannette. How are the wedding plans going? Have you decided on a venue yet?

[I hope everyone has had a good day. I'm feeling a little stressed out about "stuff" but hopefully will be back on track tomorrow.:goodvibes Oh, and some good news, I think I am going to lower my maintain weight a pound or two this week, so that's kind of exciting.
:hug:Hugs on the torture/rehab. Sounds like that no pain no gain is true in this situation. :thumbsup2Nice job on the maintain weight going down.

Congrat on signing up for the jan half. That's a fabulous goal for your 30th b-day. You will have an amazing time. You will love your shoes once you get fitted. Makes such a huge difference. Your trip sounds amazing, and 5 pounds in 26 days is very do-able. Good luck!!

It's been much harder to get out there without a disney race in the future. It wasn't as cold as it seemed so i'm glad I got out there and did it. This is the first time, maybe ever that I can say I have been consistently exercising every week for over a year. Definitely the princess half got me here, and I don't want to lose what I've gained, so I will continue. I can't wait for the warmer weather. When it was really cold, I was coughing a lot after my runs too. The cold does a number on your airway. Plus, I need the exercise to counteract the less than stellar eating lately.

Good morning! I journalled all my food yesterday, and made good choices all day. Now i just need to do that for more than one day.:rotfl2:

Shawn- hope you made the move over here and are just busy. Thinking of you and hope all is going well.

Hello to everyone else!! Have a great day!!:)

good morning everyone! i hope you all have a great day.

didn't make it to kickboxing last night. started feeling a little pukey and decided not to go. i probably should have just tried to go anyway. oh well. i have a sitter coming over after she gets out of school. going to try to go for a run. we'll see how that goes. i feel like i'm not exercising nearly as much as i should be and i'm using any little twinge of nausea as an excuse. bad!

QOTD: you know, i've never used a trainer and i really don't have a desire to. i think it's because i'm too cheap. :rotfl: i KNOW what i'm supposed to do to get in shape. do i really need to pay someone to tell me?? well, maybe i do b/c obviously just knowing what i need to do isn't enough!

Hello Friends!

I do like to think of all of you as my friends....who just happen to live in my computer :) This is my first post on the merged thread since I have been away for 2 weeks...away from the computer that is. We were on spring break at school and I decided to not use my computer...so freeing..but we are back now and here I am!

The last week was pretty rough. I went back to my orthopedist since I have been experiencing a great deal of pain in my shin (the one that has the titanium rod from the broken leg). He thinks it's just muscles moving around but gave me a topical anti-inflamatory and 4 weeks at PT 3x per week. I've gone 4 times and OUCH! I'm hoping that the exercises and stim are going to help. I'm going back to spin tonight and hope to make it through the class without pain.

On top of my pain, my best friend/roommate lost his brother Michael last Tuesday. Michael struggled with adictions and mental illness and took his own life. The worst part is that I had to tell him. The police showed up at the house and BF wasn't home. They wanted to come back after they knew he was home or I could tell him. It would be really stupid to have him home and tell him that we need to wait for the police to show up! So, I had to tell him. It's been tough on him and on me as we made all the arrangements and sent in the obit this morning. Wake is Friday and Funeral Saturday. Please say some prayers for all who struggle with additions and contimplate suicide. You never know what a kind word or helping hand can do to help someone feel they are not alone.

I'm so sorry to add such sadness to the thread but it really made me think about being healthy in not just body, but in mind and soul as well. Please tell your loved ones that you love them...I know I have been.

I wish you all a wonderful day filled with smart choices. I promise to be back on track next week when things have settled here.

Good morning everyone!

Sorry I have been MIA all weekend (and yesterday). I went to visit my sister over the weekend to help her celebrate her 30th birthday. Yesterday I tried catching up, but only got through about a page of posts before I actually had to do work at work! :lmao: The nerve of those people making me do my job!

I didn't have such a good OP weekend. I didn't get any workouts in and my eating was pretty terrible :confused3 Yesterday was a good day though and I plan to continue it through the week :thumbsup2

While at my sister's, I ran into a friend who is planning to do the Warrior Dash in MN this summer. I think it sounds like a lot of fun, but a little intimidating. I am going to see what DFi thinks and maybe we will sign up :)

QOTD 3/29/11 Tuesday
Have you ever used a personal trainer or considered signing up for one? Some gyms give away free sessions when you sign up. Do you think it would help you or do you think you can do it on your own?

I did hire a personal trainer once, but I think I only had 3 sessions. That was basically enough for her to do a fitness assessment and give me a workout plan. I stuck with it for a little while, but I didn't really like the exercises she gave me. I am used to lifting actual weights and doing more cardio and the program she set up was mostly based on improving flexibility :confused3 which I probably need, but it wasn't really what I was looking for. Shortly after that, I broke my thumb and ended up in a cast which made me take a break from the program and I never got back to it. I would love to have one again some time, but I think I would want to make sure the trainer and I had the same goals in mind.

Have a great day everyone!

It's been a whirlwind 24 hours. I had the interview yesterday morning which went well. I worked at the restaurant last night and the friend that has helped me get the interview at the oil company was in. He was under the impression that they were going to hire me and was surprised that I hadn't heard yet. Another gentleman came in that manages the big warehouse that my last company operated out of. I had stopped by his office the day I was laid off and told him to keep me in mind if any jobs came up. Well last night he asked me to email my resume to him as he may have a job opening at the end of the week.

Fast forward to an hour ago...The Oil Company called to offer me the dispatch job. The pay was lower than my last job and she wasn't sure of the insurance cost so she is going to see if she can up the offer and get insurance details. That job would start April 7 (on a friday :confused3) It starts with 2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days and 3 personal days as well as discounts on fuel oil etc. Hopefully she can up the offer by at least a dollar per hour and the insurance doesn't cost too much. she said she'd get back to me by Thursday. Hopefully I'll know better what's going on in the other 2 positions by then :goodvibes

At least I feel like things are finally looking up.

Of course Nick is home sick today and I'm fighting it too, but nothing I can't deal with.
