Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Evening Teams! ::MickeyMo :donald:

I've been busy the last few days since my mom got here. I've been helping her with her house, getting my kitchen back into order, and just relaxing. She got me addicted to Farmville & Frontierville on Facebook so been playing around with that. We've got 14 days til our trip to Disney and I'm getting excited with each day that passes. Its amazing how fast these last few days have gone. I hope it continues to go this speed.

I have 2 personal training sessions this coming week. I've not been to the gym in almost 2 weeks. I also need to get in to see my dr before we leave for our trip. This weekend (weather permitting) my mom, her boyfriend, and I are going to a Rangers game against the NY Yankees. Then she is leaving Sunday morning to head back to IL. I at some point this week need to get my pedicure done for our trip. :)

Good Monday afternoon friends! I guess I accidentally posted this on the Bl Princess thread! OOPS! Thanks to Rose for pointing it out to me!

Anyhow...... here we are, just 2 days and 23 hours, and 15 min. away from our trip!! Got lots left to do, but I will get it done!

DD is fighting a cold.... and I'm praying that it doesn't turn into bronchitis in time for our trip! If her cough doesn't sound better (or sounds worse) by this time tomorrow, I will take in to the doctor on Wed. Hopefully this is just a spring cold with a bit of spring allergies mixed in.

Our outfits for each day of the trip are planned, ironed, bagged, labeled, and packed!! :thumbsup2 Miscellaneous "stuff, toiletries, and snacks are tossed in the bag, but I will be pulling them out tonight to kind of "rearrange" things and neaten them up. Then it will just be the last minute stuff to pack up on Thursday morning!! Final packing checklist is made and ready for checking off!! Final to-do list for around the house stuff is made and ready for checking off! I have Bible Study tomorrow (so no work) and I probably won't work on Wed., so I should have more than enough time to get everything done before we leave. I just want to be sure the house is all tidy and there are plenty of groceries and such for the guys.

Relatively quiet night around here. DD is skipping Rainbow Girls to get her make-up work done ahead of time. Dinner is pretty easy (frozen salmon patties), so I am hoping to have time to come back and read and catch up and chat more..... maybe during Dancing with the Stars. TTYL..........................P

Kristina - I forgot to mention how much I love your kitchen!! You must really enjoy working in there! So glad you are enjoying your visit with your Mom and that you are able to be so helpful to her. Has your brother found a new place to live yet?

I had a NSV today. A few weeks ago I got a new black sweater from Old Navy. It didn't fit perfectly, but if I bought a bigger size the sleeves and shoulders would have been too big. I wore it for the first time today and it fits perfectly! For the first time in way too long, I liked the way I look! So excited!

Have a great day tomorrow everyone! (Need sleep...)

This is terrific!!

Saturday 4/30 QOTD- What is your favorite treat that is healthy for you and fits into staying on track?

Well..... for really healthy it would be fresh fruit cup.... watermelon, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple..... all together.

Slightly less healthy.... a mini sundae made with one of those Skinny Cow individual ice cream cups, a squirt of caramel sauce, a plop of Cool Whip free and rainbow sprinkles!!

Pamela -- The pyramids were my first thought, but I decided to branch out and go for Russia this time. It's distinctly possible that if we were both every really granted this day, we could be meeting each other -- I get dibs on 1981 Harrison Ford as my guide :rolleyes1 I stayed as AS Sports for the Princess in Feb., and I thought Surf's Up looks really fun. Love the pool area and the cool surf board decorations. I stayed in TouchDown!, and that was fine, too. A quick walk to the food court, and no noise from the pool. Also close to the baseball pool, which is great for quiet sunning. It is a quick walk to the other All Star resorts, if want to explore. I did that one morning and enjoyed the big icons. Oh! And Congratulations on Skinny You! :yay: I know how hard you have worked to make it happen!

I got up and ran 5M this morning, then later went to WW. I was down 3.6, so a very happy weigh in! :woohoo: The tracking really paid off for me. It was a pain to write down everything every day, but so worth it now!

Maria :upsidedow
Looking forward to AS Sports... especially since they accepted my room request to be in the "Surf's Up" section (supposed to be "preferred location", but I refuse to pay extra).

See how tracking the food works out!!?? I know it can be a bit of a PITA to get used to, but honestly.... it works wonders and it becomes less of a pain after a while. It just becomes a habit.... and you develop your own shorthand and your own "system" to make it quicker. My food journal has had a permanent "spot" on the kitchen counter for years now. The entire family KNOWS that is where Mom's food journal goes and you leave it alone!

Maria and Kathy--love you both! :goodvibes

I finished. And honestly it sucked. My time for Princess 2:12, my time for this one 2:42. And I was in tears the last 4 miles. I was never out of breath or even breathing hard the entire time, but my knee was killing me from about 50 minutes on. It's funny cause up until that point I was on pace to easily be under 2:30 even with run 90sec walk 90sec run. Then something just happened and it hurt so bad. The last four miles I just kept running very slowly cause it hurt so much to stop and start. I poured it on and ran hard across the finish though.:goodvibes

No stomach issues at all.:goodvibes I felt a little yucky when we got home, but once I ate something it went away.

The scary part though, the last two miles my other knee started hurting, too.

I took 2 ibuprofen (which I never do) and it's manageable. We are going to the game tonight and I am having multiple g-f beers. It's been a LONG week.:goodvibes

I will do a race report later, cause 13 miles by yourself leaves a lot of time for introspection.:thumbsup2

Have a great Saturday!

BTW--I will never run that race again. I am done. I have the medal, and one is enough!:thumbsup2

LINDSAY----Have a fabulous race!:goodvibes If I can do it girlfriend, you surely can!!!

And woohoo to Mike--He finished in 1:54!!!!! I am so happy for him
.:goodvibes

Glad you got through the race and have the medal to prove it! And WOOHOO to Mike on a GREAT time! But I'm so sorry about the pain. Hope the g-f beer was enjoyable!!

So I realized yesterday I stayed on plan food wise. Forgot to journal it, but I stayed on!!

Tonight, I love water and broccoli!! LOL I just chugged 16 oz of water while making dinner and I ate my broccoli first, I can't finish my pork chop or the pasta roni.

I also did week 5 day 2 on C25K. 5 minute warm up, 8 minute run, 5 minute walk, 8 minute run, 5 minute cool down. I Did it!!! I did 2 miles in 31:42 which averaged a 16:11 minute/mile pace. Which is awesome!!!!
My shins will force me to run, LOL They kill if I walk so I kinda slow jog/speed walk in the walking intervals. Still having trouble lifting my left foot. I really need to will it to lift, but it's not as bad as it used to be. Tomorrow I will just do a walk. Monday is a 20 minute run for W5D3. I'm nervous!!! But I think I can do it!!
Today's quote on C25K was Never, never, never give up!! - Winston Churchill.
I had to keep saying it over and over in my head.
I also told myself I deserved that medal. I was not going to let DS down, I was not going to let myself down!!!!! And I kept saying Damn it I want that medal!!! Next thing I know...... my 8 minutes were up!!

I think I will bring my iPod and headphones with me. I'll keep one earbud in so I can hear music, it really does help.

I hope everyone has a great night and a fantastic Sunday!!!

:woohoo: You are doing SO GREAT!!!

Hi guys. My name is Michelle and I was on here a few challenges ago and had planned on coming back for the next challenge when God interceded and gave us our 4th baby girl! It was a suprise but now that she is here I can't imagine not having her. She is 4 weeks old and just beautiful. Her name is Loralei Victoria Abagail and she is wonderful.

I can't wait to start getting back on track with my health. Luckily I dodn't gain any weight during the pregancy and I am a few pounds lighter now than when I got pregnant. I have a long way to go and can't wait to join with you guys again.

I will e mail my weight tomorrow, (yuck) and hope that I can join with you guys and we can all get healthy together.

Hope everyone has a great night. My tiniest monster is sleeping so I am going to try and get in a wink or 2 before she realizes I'm not holding her! :goodvibes

Welcome back!! Congratulation on the baby!

Sorry if I'm repeating questions.

Sunday QOTD 5/1- Wow, I just realized it's may!! I think I need a disney question. : If you were at Disneyland, WDW, or on a Disney cruise right now what would you be doing?

I would be at MK, coming off space mountain after a couple rides and heading to the carousel of progress to relax and let my stomach settle. Then we'd do Buzz, monsters laugh floor, and head over to frontierland through fantasyland and stop along the way at the rides with short lines, hopefully small world and haunted mansion. We'd fastpass on of the mountains, and wait for the other, and then head toward Crystal Palace for our late lunch there, with our conveniently timed adr so we have time to pirates along the way.

Well.... next Monday night at this time I will be flying home... It will be over so fast! But if I were there RIGHT NOW.... I would probably be finishing up a few last rides before we grab some CS dinner and secure our piece of real estate before the evening parade (assuming I'm at MK).

I'm dealing with my diet frustrations today. I haven't lost anything in days and even gained. I've been totally on track so it makes me angry. I think the difference might be that the first week we didn't have anything that we could quickly grab and had to cook breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Last Sunday I bought so Atkins breakfast bars and shakes. We've been having a bar for breakfast then a shake for snack. I'm wondering if the sugar alcholols that are subtracted from the total carbs might be a problem for my body. I must say that they are tastey. I make try to cook up some eggs and breakfast meats today to have for quick breakfasts this week and see if that makes a difference. I'm also probably PMSing, I've never noticed it effecting the entire week leading up to TOM so it probably isn't so likely. :confused3 I'm not throwing in the towel, I'm not giving myself a day off, I'm just going to keep swimming.

On a happier note, we moved our camper closer to the house (it's summer parking spot) and opened it up yesterday. I need to wash all the bedding and use some liquid gold on all the wood in their. We are so excited to go camping. This camper was brand new at the end of the summer last year so we've only camped one weekend in it so far. We asked family for specific items for it for Christmas and put all of those together yesterday. The new portable grill is amazing (Cuisinart) and the new area rug matches perfectly :goodvibes I feel like a giddy school girl and my husband is equally as bad :lmao:

GIve yourself some time..... remember, being a lady comes with lots of monthly hormonal adjustments!! Just keep up what you have been doing right and things WILL work out on the scale.

Happy Day for the camper!! DS and I would LOVE to find a tiny camper/trailer for just two! He and I love our Mother/Son camping time, but tenting it is getting old....especially when it rains!!

Monday's QOTD - Since vacations are often for having fun and letting go of your diet somewhat, what little things do you do while on vacation (Disney or other) to keep you on track with the challenge while you enjoy yourself?

I stay on track with what I can (light breakfasts, exercise) and splurge and enjoy the "special" vacation treats (like Mickey bars and Dole Whips). The last three years running I've exercised 5-6 days out of the 8 of our family lake vacation.....just helps me keep things on track and in control. But I still splurge on special vacation foods.

I totally skip anything not real special though. Just cause it's Disney doesn't mean I need to eat every french fry I see!!:rolleyes1

Good Morning Everyone!

Its back to work for me today. ugghhh! I officially completed my 2nd half marathon yesterday:cool1: My princess half was 3:12 and yesterdays time was 2:48. It wasnt hard to go faster considering I had nothing to take pictures of.:lmao: I am pretty sore today but it feels good in a wierd way. I am proud of myself for doing it.

I feel like my first race I proved to myself that I can do it and this second race I proved to everyone else that I can do it too. Like the first one wasnt just a fluke. Im not sure what my 3rd half will represent but Im sure I will figure it out over the 13 miles I will run by myself....like rose said running for that long of a time along allows for plenty of self reflection.;)

Have a great day!!!!

Great job with the race!!

********DISCLAIMER! Not that it makes a big difference, but when I posted about my weight loss on Friday, I should have said that I had a TWO in the TENS place....not the ones place!! OOPS! But it was sweet of so many of you to send me big congratulations nonetheless!!!

Took another peek at the scale Saturday morning and was done a few more tenths and then as of Sunday I was down that full pound I had been looking for....but I'm sticking with my Friday weight for the "official" number.

Gotta run. TTYL.....................P

Rose how did you find out that you had an allergy to gluten? DS10 has such stomach issues, especially after eating grain products. And now my oldest god daughter is having a similar issue.
Is there a test or did you have to turn yourself into a guinea pig? My mom is lactose intolerant and she ended up just figuring it out on her own. The Dr's were no help.
I'm going to send you a pm.:goodvibes

Hi, everyone! Just a quick check-in for me. I'm so sorry to be neglecting all my WISH BL friends. I am just overwhelmed and stressed. Don't worry, though, I've been self-medicating -- let's see, there was vanilla cake, restaurant dinners, nachos, wine and more wine, chips, etc., etc. It was ugly. And when all was said and done, the medicine did not work! Fancy that? I actually felt worse. Just take stress and add a huge dose of guilt PLUS the sluggishness that comes from eating poorly and not exercising, and yeah, self-medicating with food is not effective. :rotfl2:
Cam--it's a really crappy lesson to keep learning over and over again. I so get it. I hope you are able to get through all the craziness. Just do the best that you can. Just keep telling yourself--I might not be able to control everything but I can control what I eat. It's really hard some days, I know, just do the best you can.

Maria--thank you.:goodvibes

darn 40 second rule......................

OK I feel like I'm talking to myself LOL

But here goes.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

I ran 3.2 miles!!! I did a 5K!!!!
I ran (except for my 5 minute warm up walk) for 48 minutes and 42 seconds.
I kept a 15:13 pace!!!!!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::faint:

I started out planning to do the 20 minutes, but when I surpassed the 1 mile mark and was closing in on the 1/2 way point, I said what the hell let's try it!! And I did it!!
I used icy hot on my legs to help the shin splints and they felt really good. I found a nice stride (poor DS is going to have to take really really short steps LOL) and my legs didn't hurt and my left foot lifted when I told it to. I did get a stitch in my side at mile 1 but pushed through it. I saw a shirt at Dick's sporting goods that said "What wall??" and I just kept saying it over and over.
I'm soooo stoked!!!!! DH asked me what I was going to do to celebrate and I said attempt to crawl up the basement stairs! LOL

It's a good night. Hunter's lacrosse team finally won a game...It only took 3 years :lmao: DH is the coach so we are all thrilled. It's a first win for both of them :cool1:

TOM showed up this afternoon with avengance. I guess I called that one right. I hope I'll see a big drop in a day or two. I haven't felt well since about 3 AM and now it all makes sense.

We do have a camping trip planned for Memorial Day Weekend. It will be nice to get away for 3 nights. We won't get an early start though as Nick has his last Lacrosse game that Friday night. We'll be setting up in the dark, but who cares :cool1:

Evening All!

Hope everyone had a great day. I worked an extra hour and a half to get ready for my presentations tomorrow. I am presenting the same one twice. I'm just a little nervous. :rolleyes1

I am really stress eating. I'm trying really hard not to, but I start thinking about things and then feel like food is the answer. I have a really hard time on the drive to and from work. I'm back to drinking electroyltes too. I went through 32 oz. of Powerade Zero and about 20 oz. of electrolte-enhanced water, plus regular water and some tea. I'll have to stop at the store on my way to work again tomorrow morning.

I did make it to the gym tonight. I got in a great workout too. My goal is 5 min. miles on the recumbent bike and I did 6.99 in 35 min. I'll definitely take that!

I'm not sure when I'll make it WW this week. Tomorrow and Wednesday I am likely working late and Thursday I have another committment. Maybe Friday.

Well, I'm off to bed...very tired.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

hi all!

this weekend DH and i left the little guy at home with a friend of mine and went to DC for a friend's wedding. the weekend was really fun! the wedding kind of sucked though -there was hardly any food! ***?? i had planned on enjoying a nice glass of wine with my meal but considering all that was served was veggies with dip, fruit slices, cold cuts on a stick and cheese and crackers, i decided to forget the wine as my stomach just wasn't full enough!

my one friend works at the white house and got us a special private tour. it was really cool and she took us to alot of the places that normal folks don't get to see. we were supposed to go to the oval office but were stuck outside the office's door since the president was in an emergency meeting. i guess now we know what the meeting was about!!

at the wedding i finally spilled to my friends that i'm pregnant. they were all really happy and excited. my one friend's wife says, "i knew it! i thought you were gaining weight!" WHAAAAATTT???? first off, this gal is not exactly thin. secondly, i weigh the same right now as i did at my wedding. she hasn't seen me at this weight in a long time! i weigh 135! i worked hard to get down to this weight! last time she saw me i was probably 150 (i had just had a baby).

talk about a rude comment. how does one react to that!?!

Glad to hear that you had a nice time, but disappointed in the lack of food. I always look forward to yummy apps at weddings. The main meal isn't always the highlight, but it sounds like the apps weren't even filling. Bummer :headache:

Wow, I guess there was an important meeting in the oval office and to think, you were right outside the door as it was all going on.

Man oh man, some people can make the rudest comments.

Tsk tsk on her

Monday's QOTD - Since vacations are often for having fun and letting go of your diet somewhat, what little things do you do while on vacation (Disney or other) to keep you on track with the challenge while you enjoy yourself?
I like this question! I have lots of things I do. DH and I share a lot of meals. We used to share dinners, but since I have gone g-f he usually gets something at dinner that we wouldn't have at home, so it's a treat for him. We often share lunch though. We also have food in our room for quick breakfasts and last minute meals--hummus, scoops, hard boiled eggs, cheese, fruit, nuts, rice chex, yogurt. If we have dessert then we always share. I also try really hard to walk as much as I can to make up for any extra calories.

Eating out has become quite a chore since going g-f so I really enjoy going to Disney even more. The table service restaurants do a really good job of trying to make your dinner special even if it's a special allergy meal. At first I was really nervous about this, but we found all of the chefs we met to be so nice and eager to help. I am looking forward to our next trip cause it will be fun to eat out and not worry! So, I am planning on ordering dessert at every meal, but I will share with my boys.:goodvibes

Sharing sounds like a good idea. Then you can try a little of something without all the guilt.

Now, where was I reading about no sugar added desserts that were incredible. Must have been the DCL thread. I think they were raving about one of the no sugar added apple desserts at Palo. It looked good too popcorn::

I forgot everything else I was going to say. Yesterday was my first full day of being on track after 8 days of being not-so-nice to my body. I did do a 5k last Saturday in the torrential rain to benefit Ronald McDonald House. And I did 6.6 miles this past Saturday just because I thought I should.

Hang in there Cam, just move on from the bad food and leave it behind you. Good job on the 5K. I'm always impressed when people do lots of running, because I could never get into it :worship:

Funny that you should mention that thread. I clicked on it earlier today and was going crazy not being able to find my last post, then I was confused b/c there weren't as many pages and I thought I had remembered. Then it clicked, whoopsie wrong thread.

Hope DD is feeling better for the trip

Nice job with all your packing, I need to get on that this week.

Love the Dole Whips popcorn:: I can't stop reading the food blog and checking out the new thread on the restaurant section with all the cupcake pictures.

I ran 3.2 miles!!! I did a 5K!!!!

Well, it's just about time for bed. I might try and whip up a quick workout playlist for my MP3 in case it's nice tomorrow and I try to go for a quick run/walk.

Have a nice evening, talk to you tomorrow :goodvibes

Good Tuesday morning Teams

It has been a crazy week so far and it is only Tuesday. School has been awful. My classes were half full yesterday because the students started AP testing. I have my yearly meeting today, I have to get ready for being out on Wednesday and Friday and we were told yesterday that someone who has been in the department for 3 years is not coming back next year.

I am struggling along with everyone else this week. I wish I had a magic formula for all of us.

Just try to have a happy and healthy day.

Good luck with your presentations today and don't worry about the eating, we've all been there. After your presentations are done, just get back on track with your eating. Sounds like you're still doing well with your drinking and workouts, so that should help keep you going even while your eating might take a hit. Hope everything goes well today :goodvibes

Good morning, sorry to hear that the week hasn't been going well. Good luck with your yearly meeting today. Is it like an annual review? Is the person that's leaving going on their own? I hope your week turns around soon. You must be excited to be almost done :cool1:

Good morning everyone, Happy Tuesday! Time for a QOTD.

Tuesday's QOTD - With less than 3 weeks left in the challenge, is there anything that you plan on doing differently with the time we have left to end the challenge on a high note?

Tuesday's QOTD - With less than 3 weeks left in the challenge, is there anything that you plan on doing differently with the time we have left to end the challenge on a high note?

I actually feel like I need to make a last minue sprint. I ate rather poorly this past weekend and it showed on the scale. So, for the remainder of the challege, I'm going to push myself to do really well. I went grocery shopping and made all healthy choices, so that I won't be tempted to stray and I'm going to try and give running a try tonight :scared1: I know, scary for me as I'm not much of a good runner, but we'll give it a try.

I have the end of the challenge and vacation in sight, so it's full steam ahead. Go teams Mickey & Donald :thumbsup2

QOTD: I'm going to try my best to stay OP over the weekend and still get my workouts in. I know I will be having take out on Sunday for lunch since it's Mother's Day. Not sure what's in the cards yet for Saturday. We have 2 soccer games and I don't know yet if I will have to work. I seem to be working a lot of Saturdays lately so I wouldn't be surprised if I got called in. I have one person today and three people on Thursday so far!

TTFN :tigger:

Reminder: You have until 2 pm to get in your results! I plan on doing them tonight during BL!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::faint:

LOL
Congrats Buffy! That's exciting!:goodvibes

It's a good night. Hunter's lacrosse team finally won a game...It only took 3 years :lmao: DH is the coach so we are all thrilled. It's a first win for both of them :cool1:
Congrats to Hunter and DH!:goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great day. I worked an extra hour and a half to get ready for my presentations tomorrow. I am presenting the same one twice. I'm just a little nervous. :rolleyes1
I hope it goes well CC!

Tuesday's QOTD - With less than 3 weeks left in the challenge, is there anything that you plan on doing differently with the time we have left to end the challenge on a high note?
More water, more planned meals. I will not be running this month, so it will be interesting to see how much different it is to maintain without running.

****
It's raining here again! I think I heard that we are 13 inches above normal for the year already. And the temps are in the 40s. Yuck! Hopefully this is it for nasty weather.

Have a great day everyone! Drink your water. And for all you dealing with stress eating--try delaying it for 5 minutes. Take a short walk. If you are at work take a bathroom break. Sometimes even a quick break/change of scenery is enough of a distraction. I think it's pretty normal to have the urge to stress eat, we just need to find ways to manage it.:goodvibes

A quick hello this morning!

Perfect qotd for me. I've been playing with the same few pounds for the last 2 months, with ONE-derland not so far away. I feel like a broken record. I need to get my focus back. I am going to write every bite down again. I'm doing good with the exercise again, and I know the eating can follow. I had my physical yesterday and was down 3 pounds this year. My doctor was great and said that was wonderful, since most people gain about 5 pounds a year, so I'm really down 8. Still, I know my running will get faster as i get some weight off. In 6 weeks is the 5k I did last year, and I want to finish in under 40 min. I'm going to make a running plan for the summer to get ready for the half in september, and work increasing my speed before june.

Lots of us are struggling, but it's so good to see everyone still here, still trying, one day at a time. We must never give up!! Anything worth having is worth working for, and I think that is true about this weight loss journey. Keep it up everyone!! We can do it!!

Hope everyone has a great day. :)

I DID IT!!!
Last Saturday I did my first 5K (timed with a number and real people doing it too!!) I walked the entire thing without stopping and managed to do it in 49.30 minutes which looks like 15.40 per mile!! I didn't come in dead last ( there were 7 people behind me) but I thought I would feel ashamed at being so far back in the pack...but I was just excited that I was able to finish :cool1:

I had to push through some pain in my leg around the half way mark, but at the end I felt pretty good. I ended up walking again with my friend on Sunday (we did 2.5 miles at a 19 minute pace) and I STILL felt good! I can't wait to tell my trainer tomorrow! I skipped yesterday to rest (and my hip was bothering me a bit).

Thank You!!!
to all of you who encouraged me to do the race...even when I thought I couldn't. You all have made a difference in my life

Tonight it's back to the gym for spin class and maybe a walk around the block if the rain holds off long enough....

Lots of us are struggling, but it's so good to see everyone still here, still trying, one day at a time. We must never give up!! Anything worth having is worth working for, and I think that is true about this weight loss journey. Keep it up everyone!! We can do it!!

You are soooo right Kathy!! I'm not giving up!! I'm back on the wagon and I want to steer this time...not just be there for the ride ;) Off to get my oatmeal for breakfast!!

Make great choices my friends!!
