Biggest Disney Park Blunder

I loved Mr Toad as a child. I wish it were still there because I think my kids would like it too!

The Arcade on Main St and those machines that let you watch the old movies in them. And wasn't there a magic shop I am remember too?

The Birthday Castle Cake. My DH and I went to WDW during that time, it was his first trip ever. He was SO disappointed that the Castle didn't look like he thought it would from seeing pictures and watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights as a kid. It was major letdown for him.

Closing the Hunchback of Notre Dame stage show at the Studios. Still the best live show they've ever had on property, and the worst part is they replaced it with NOTHING. The theater is still there and the structure holds up the San Francisco street wall. Sad.

A close second is ending Tapestry.

I share your feelings WDWguru! :sad2:

Emperors New Groove is in Peru (South America.) Just thought I would mention it:)

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. True it's not a princessbut, it's still one of the funniest ones out there IMHO!
Plus, don't forget the movies The Three Cabelleros (SP?), and Saludos Amigos. And Donald's pal Panchito (is this his name?) and Jose Carioca!
As far as Africa in WS well, doesn't AK devote a bit to African culture? :confused3

Another vote here for the Birthday Cake!

But (speaking of Stitch) - although not a "park" blunder - changing the wake-up calls to Stitch shrieking in your ear. The wake-up call used to be a favorite part of every Disney morning.. now I bring a travel alarm.

and I have to add (again not a "park" thing, sorry  ) Changing the WDW tour channel on the TV - we loved the paper origami thing and the little tune that went with it.

Where to begin?
MK:
I liked the Lion King show where Mickey Philharmagic is now.
Doing away with the 20,000 League Ride and replacing it with more characters--we need a ride there.
I liked the Timekeeper show
The ugly Pepto-Bismal pink castle

Epcot:
Horizons razed for Mission Space
The Transportation Ride although I love Test Track
The revised Imagination Ride
Mickey's arm and wand on Spaceship Earth
Additional countries to visit.

MGM:
The Narnia attraction is lame and a waste of precious time
Hunchback of Notre Dame Show being removed
I loved the Millionaire Show and I understand some type of Nemo show is going to be installed there.

Animal Kingdom:
Removing the Tarzan Rocks show for ANOTHER Nemo attraction. I loved the show but the theatre it was shown in was miserably hot.
I love Expedition Everest but it is not as thrilling as it could be. It reminds me of another Big Thunder Mountain. More hills and thrills would have been a little better.
Controlling the excessive heat and humidity this park has.
Were there ever boat rides on the river? I see boat docks and boats, but were they ever in operation? I think I may have enjoyed a boat ride around the park.

Typhoon Lagoon:
The Crush-n-Gusher. My daughter and I rode this ride and we thought a better name would be Crush-n-Gusher-n-Booty Buster. I do not know if there was suppose to be more water on the slides the day we rode it, but the conveyor belt beat us to death. My daughter, she is a small things, had red marks on her rear after going down the slide.

Disney Quest:
They are simply not taking care of the facility. It is becoming more of a video arcade.

DH and I were just talking about this on our last trip.
That would be great!

I agree with the closing things without replacement. I'd vote for the big hulking ugly (and mostly unused) Odyssey in Future world.
I miss Horizons, too!

1. taking away the main street electrical parade
2. taking away Mr. toads wild ride
3. taking away 20,000 leagues
4.taking away if you had wings
5. changing tiki room
6. changing main street
7. changing journey into imagination
I hope Disney doesnt get carried away and take away all of the great(and/or cheesy) rides and attraction. I grew up with Disney world and I miss those things. Please do not get rid of carosel of progress or indy. They are a part of the original Disney.

Not for nothing, but I olny agree with the #7. And I say get rid of indy and CoP.

Perhaps you already know of this, I found it on Google. It makes me so insanely happy to hear it. Plus I can have it at home and get that "Just from the Park" fresh feeling. Love it love it love it.

The changing of the Journey into Imagination ride. The present ride is a pale shadow of its former self.

I agree.
They closed the original Journey into Imagination ride because of a contract they had with Kodak.

I miss the original Figment also. At least this one has Figment in it a lot more than the first redo. When Kodak sponsored the original Figment Disney signed a contract that the ride would be redone before the year 2000. For those of you never got to experience the original Figment or if you would like to relive it this is a great website.

http://figmentsimagination.com/

Here is an except from that website that explains why the Original Figment ride was Changed:

"It has been confirmed by a Disney source that the original Journey Into Imagination was closed due to a contract agreement between Kodak and Disney. The contract stated that JII was to be changed by the year 2000. The original JII, due to large amounts of projectors, sets, lighting and animatronics, was VERY expensive to maintain each year. JII was the most advanced attraction of its kind in the US when it opened in 1983. Even when it closed, the technology involved with producing the show was ahead of other theme park attractions. Many Imagineers were not at all happy about making the changes because they had fear that the new attraction would fail. Armed with a budget far less than they had to build the original JII, the replacement opened and the fans were not happy. WDI realized that mistakes were made but at this point, there is no physical way to return the attraction to its original state because of the way the building has been altered and the money that would be needed to do it is not there. The current budget to redo JIYI is still not enough to restore the magic we all miss. But we will be able to see Figment again! "

This excerpt is from this site:

The chances of Figment making a full return looked bleak. Disney sold part of the ride props on eBay and used one of Dreamfinder's flying machines as a prop in the Mouse Gear store. Then the ride closed in the winter of 2002 for renovation and reopened in June of 2002 as Journey Into Imagination with Figment. While Eric Idle and the Imagination Institute are still featured, Figment has been added to every scene and a new version of One Little Spark is sung. Dreamfinder is still MIA but one of the lab office doors is now labeled as belonging to "Dean Finder".

Number one offense, changing the Tiki room.

I also think they dropped the ball with Spaceship Earth. It looks great, and then when you get inside, the attraction is lame-o-rama. For something that is the principle icon of the park, they needed to do a LOT better.

Ok, my turn to say it....SACRILEDGE!

Spaceship Earth is one of the extremely few futuristic attractions left in "Future World", it is to Epcot what Pirates is to MK, IMHO
