Bigger Canadian Space on Disboards

i vote yes - mainly because i can never remember where the section is and keep looking for it in the headers before i remember we don't have a section and remember where it is.

i don't think we need a bunch of catigories just 2 or 3 basic ones - trip planning which would hold disney and non disney trip questions (cheap but good hotels in Quebec City in the wall anyone?), canadian life (life at home ie timmies is having a sale WOO HOO like that ever happens LOL) and maybe 1 or 2 others if anyone has any suggestions.

Not sure where the last post on this was..

But I had suggested to HAM .. something like:

Three Sub-boards
- Canadian Community Board (new board in Canadian forum for non-trip related posts)
- Canadian DVC Board
- Canadian Transportation Board.

And the homebase board.
- Canadian Trip Planning (same board as exists now)

I love the Canadian DVC board, love all the ideas!!!

Same here, this is my first stop on the Dis boards. I'm new so I defer to the veterans, if we had sub boards, we might have more Canadian 'community" interaction or participation?

Apparently before my time their was a Canadian DVC board. I would love to see that brought back. Their is a significant increase in Canadian DVC owners with lots in and outside of Ontario. The rules and DVC protocol change a lot once outside of Ontario. As a DVC owner I had to sift through and research for 7 months before taking an onsite trip to DL to make my purchase. I would love to see a forum dedicated specifically to Canadian DVC'ers again

Well.. Based in part on the response to this thread...

I have submitted an informal request for the consideration of the Webmasters & owners of the DIS. I suspect that they'll OK it in the end.. but I imagine it won't come to pass until after the 'speed issues & long threads' problem is resolved.

They're pretty focused on that right now.

ahhhh so a few days after hell freezes over then HAHAHAH - at least that's the way some people complaining about how slow it is think

actually although some times it's slower then usual for the most part i don't really see it being super slow

We've (and by we I mean WebmasterAlex.. the rest of us just pretended to watch) pretty much determined that threads with more than 6000 or 7000 posts in them REALLY slow the DIS down. So there will likely be a 'cap' on the length of threads soon ..

In the meantime, the 'really bad for performance' threads with 10,000 posts or more have been moved off the boards to speed things up immediately. Those threads be 'chopped' into manageable chunks and returned to the boards.

That process will take a short while.. but it's definitely not 'interminable'.

I think the upgrade to the Canadian boards is definitely a sooner rather than later proposition.

One point of interest .. IF approved, the Canadian DVC board would NOT host rent/trade transactions. There is already a really well designed system for that on the existing DVC boards and the Canadian board would not attempt to duplicate that.

For one, it's WAY too much work to duplicate that and for two, those systems, rules and procedures on that existing board are there specifically to at least attempt to protect both the renter and the rentee.

Hey Knox,
Thanks for looking out for us!

I spend lots of time on the boards and with the weather in the -30's it tends to be more than ever.

I also like the ideas for the Boards and Sub-Boards and believe that we do have our own issues as Canadians that we can help each other with.
