We will have 8 people (5 adults and 3 kids who would need boosters) going to Disney in May and we're thinking right now about staying off site. So I thought a big ol' van would be a good idea but are those more expensive?

Could we get 2 sedans for way cheaper? Even considering we'd have to pay parking for 2 cars....?

Where do I look for promo codes or special rates? It's so overwhelming to know that rates change like plane ticket prices!

Thanks for any help!

Keep checking the prices, which might bounce up and down several times a week.

A little known advantage of two cars over one van is that it is much easier for the company to substitute a (larger) vehicle if they don't have the size you ordered.

I think in most cases 2 cars will be cheaper and more convenient. If the kids are tired or someone isn't feeling well, not everyone will have to leave the parks. Depending on the length of your trip, and how many meals you are having at onsite table service restaurants you may consider getting at least one AP. That would allow for one vehicle to get free parking, and having an AP you can purchase Tables in Wonderland ($75) for meal discounts. TIW offers 20% Disney table service (including alcohol) and for some counter service mostly at AK.

We went with a larger group (7 adults 2 kids) last spring break and found the best deals getting 2 cars. It was nice for reasons like others mentioned...if my family came back to the house, others could stay at the parks, or we'd all come back for dinner and then some could head back later if they wanted. Plus, since we were catching flights at different times we returned 1 car a day earlier than the other.

There might not be lots of great codes/coupons out right now for next year yet. Find something somewhat reasonable and get it booked, then you can always make changes when better deals show up.

Enjoy your trip!
