Big Thunder

My DH noticed this morning that Big Thunder will be down for most of our trip in Dec. We arrive on Saturday the 3rd and he saw that it will be down starting the 5th. I am a little bit disappointed as this is my favorite ride in Disneyland. I told him we will just have to get a lot of riding done on the 3rd and 4th, maybe during the Candlelight Processional. Does anyone think that maybe the ride being down has to do with the Star Wars Land construction? I can't imagine why else they would have it down during the busy Holiday Season. Especially with all the other stuff that is down. Will this probably make the rest of the park more crowded also??

Nothing has been released as to why. From what I can tell, it's just down the 5th through the 7th. That's not too bad. And if you can hit it before it goes down, then you're in good shape. The worst is when it's down your entire trip. But squeeze it in at the beginning of your trip and you'll feel better about it.

As GatorChris said, they haven't announced any reason for the closure, but it could just be for some maintenance in preparation for the really busy portion of the holiday season.

We never find the line long on BTMRR so I am thinking you will get a ton of rides in on the 3rd and 4th. Our experience has been that the line during fireworks is virtually nonexistent.

I was disappointed to see it closed too but happy it will be open again the last two days of our trip! It's my favorite ride! Glad it's just down a couple of days!

I didn't notice this, thanks for posting about it. Glad it's only for a couple of days and if it's a safety maintenance thing, I'm all for it.

Guessing its just a maintenance thing. When we were there at the end of Sept/beg Oct it was down a lot. We love that ride!!! And I love you can get a peek of Star Wars Land when you are on it.
