Big Thunder Ranch BBQ or somewhere else?

Big Thunder Ranch is one of our go to places to eat lunch in the park, one reason is we know with my daughter's dairy allergy everything is safe except the cornbread. They also have BBQ veggie skewers that you can order with tofu, squash, onions, potatoes, and I think mushrooms. They usually take about 20 minutes to cook so we order them when we check in so they are close to ready if not ready when the rest of the food is served.

If I was to choose one place it would be the blue bayou not thunder ranch bbq. Thunder ranch is good but nothing beats the experience of blue bayou. To me it is no contest

Is the Blue Bayou very fancy with fancy food? Or casual enough that we could go there from the park in our park clothes and not have to go change into other outfits? Do you just walk up or need to reserve so many days in advance(is it 60 days?)?

We like the experience of the restaurant, but are not big fans of the all you can eat. We never eat enough to justify the cost. We love to snack throughout the day and do not work up an appetite for a heavy meal.

We did do dessert only last trip and loved it!

We always go in our park clothes and you will likely need reservations but you can probably get a table just a day or two in advance depending on when you go.

Oh, that's great, thank you, Aladora! I'm excited to go here!

Also if you choose not to do a sit-down meal I would say that most of the "quick service" places are still good options! It's not your typical burgers/nuggets/pizza places any more and we found quite a good variety of things to try to keep everyone happy! Just do some research on the menus ahead of time and you will be able to plan where you want to be.

We tried Big Thunder Ranch last year for dinner and it was just ok. We went in the evening and I froze the whole meal. I was happy that we were seated by a heat lamp. It gets cold in CA when the sun comes down! The food was alright but nothing special. Our waiter was horrible he was so slow. We had a hard time finding him to ask for refills on food and drinks and when we did find him it took him a very long time to make it back. The environment was fun with the singers but they're not out the whole time. I enjoyed my experience at Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou much better. We're heading back to Disneyland for our second trip later this month and I made reservations at Blue Bayou again!

I loooove Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. I've actually even done it solo! My favorite is the corn bread with real corn in it ;) Very delicious. I've also done Blue Bayou a lot and love it as well. They have gotten a lot busier over the years and now it's hard to get in without a reservation. Before, I used to just walk up and go.

Thunder Ranch BBQ is my hubby's favorite place to eat---hands DOWN! But, he looooooves BBQ and he loves meat. I, for one, wouldn't mind never eating there again but I'm not a huge meat fan. If you love LOTS of all-you-can-eat meat options, this is the place for you. Corn bread, beans, corn on the cob and TONS of meat varieties is what you'll get and while it's delicious, I wasn't too impressed. My hubby would eat there every meal if he could.

My fav place by far to eat in the parks. I like going for dinner so I can get the sausages as well. I make sure to eat an early and small lunch if I know I am eating at BTRBBQ. It's not worth going if your not really hungry. One of these days I will go there to try the desert.

I am trying to decipher....is the price for adults $29.99 PLUS tax and tip....or does that price INCLUDE the tax and the tip? What does the final price come to?

Maddle

$29.99 will be excluding tax and tips. Depending on how generously you tip, it should come out about $38 all up. Desserts are additional, can't remember what happens with drinks (i.e. if soda fountain drinks are included or not, we just had water).

It is expensive, but lots of fun, very unique, and totally delicious (so long as you like meat).

We just did BTRBBQ with a group of 13 and it was really good. We went at dinner so that we could get the sausage as other people have said.

We had a group with smaller kids so the laid back atmosphere was great for them. There is no way we could have done TS meal with them in Blue Bayou or something like that.....it is like herding cats with them! LOL

We will go back for sure.
:rotfl2::lmao:Herding cats!!
