Big thumbs up for OKW (Long)!!

We will be staying in a 2 bedroom at OKW in December. We requested building 62. Hope we are as lucky as you were!

Building 62 is where the DVC offices used to be when they sold out they closed the offices-then began renovation of the building. They are looked new because they are relatively speaking. You can not have a building closer to HH then building 62-glad you had a good time.

Pa@OKW95, thanks for your input on Building 62! Learning about these little known facts (particularly for we newer members) is part of the fun of this board!! You know what they say about Location, Location, Location -- and building 62 was fantastic!!

WDWFan, hope your request for building 62 comes through!

Ruth....I've been looking for this report, hoping that you guys had a great trip! So glad to hear that you enjoyed your first taste of DVC ownership!

Made sweating out those ROFR's worth it, didn't it? :p

Thanks for sharing your impressions, and it sounds like you packed a lot of activity into your trip. Now you're an OKW expert too! :)

MsDis, you edited your reply before I could answer! I think many adults have that “eyes glazed over” look by the time they check in! After spending Thursday & Friday evenings packing & doing last minute shopping, we had to be up at 4:00 a.m. Saturday to get to the airport by 5:30 a.m. By the time we changed planes in Atlanta, got our luggage, waited for DH’s daughter to arrive, then got the rental car, well, it pretty much seemed like we should call it a day!! Yes, the weather was very cooperative! We ran into brief evening rain showers twice but, other than that, it was clear sailing! Sounds like you got your exercise walking around OKW!

Granny, hey there! We got our first glimpse of VWL’s interior, if only the lobby! Hope to get back at Christmas to see it during the day – maybe we’ll be able to take a sneak peak at a unit. Unless plans change drastically, we won’t be staying there until Christmas 2005! (Can you believe the Cardinals -- they look like they've never played baseball before!)

One thing I failed to mention in my initial post was the damage to so many of the pine trees from the hurricanes. I’d say that one-quarter to one-third of the pines were either blown over or leaning severely. In some instances, the damage was more severe due to tornados. Let’s just say that I was able to see things from the roads and monorail that I’d never seen before!
