Big tarp on Main Street - Is it still there?

Big tarp on Main Street - Is it still there? I think it was over the Bakery? I think I saw a thread about it earlier this week but I can't find it. How long is it supposed to be there?

What is the story on this? I can't believe they would put a big monstrosity like that right smack in the middle of Main Street USA. How long will this be up? Didn't they use to "blend" tarps in to match the buildings of Main Street. It's such an eye sore.

2) Let us not be judgmental.
3) If it were painted to match the area
. . . it would cost a couple of thousand dollars
. . . Meg Crofton would charge more admission to everyone
. . . Ogre (I mean Iger) would charge more admission to everyone
. . . compouded, it could be a major ticket price increase
4) So, it is a benefit to all the guests.

NOTE: See, I can "spin" cost savings, or cheapness, just as well as WDW.

DS and his family arrived today. This is his inlaws first trip to the World. I'm so sorry, they were greeted by that great big, ugly mess. DH and I were discussing, earlier today, how times have changed. There was a time, Disney cared about appearances.. Nowadays, they don't do much to conceal construction or maintenance. Of course, that's a different thread.

Geez, really? A tarp over one very small section of one part of the world that covers hundreds of acres and we're apologizing that it's a big ugly mess?

That definitely makes it worse. It doesn't bother me that bad, but we can go anytime. If this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip or I only got to go every 5 years or so, I'd be really disappointed. Unfortunately, winter has become a bad time to visit, if you don't get to go often. The crowds & prices are low, but there's too much down or too much work being down to get a true feel for the parks.

Yes, we do. Disney isn't cheap. It promises a lot for the price it commands. Having expectations destroyed by something like this greatly reduces its value.

I was at MK today to get one last ride in at Big Mountain RR and yes the tarp was still there when I left around 3pm.

I guess everyone forgot about all of the other themed tarps that WDW has been using more and more of recently? I'm sure there's probably one on the way, and if there's not it's really not the end of the world. If this one tarp is bothering anyone that much you probably shouldn't go back to Fantasyland...

That's what it looks like. There are some others in the park as well. Over by the gun range.

I get it. It looks bad. But for as much time and money that Disney puts into making sure their work areas are invisible as possible don't you think that there must be SOME reason they had to do it that way? I understand how much we all pay to go to Disney.

But again - one building front on hundreds of acres of property? I don't hear anyone complaining about this BIG, ugly wall:

Not a whole lot of people look forward to the magical moment when they get their first glimpse of the back end of the Tomorrowland Speedway (or the back end of Fantasyland in general). The castle view and accompanying photo ops are an iconic and for many guests cherished part of a Disney World vacation. And that is a huge eyesore that gets in the way of that experience, which for those of us traveling in January with half the parks' evening entertainment dark and several major attractions closed it feels like adding insult to injury.
