Big runDisney announcement coming in April

Agreed about different courses. I don't remember the exact course, but I really enjoyed the 2003 Half. We ran through EPCOT - FW and part of WS - while it was all lit up. That was spectacular. Granted, the Finish was near MK and was different from the Start (which causes some problems with logistics) . . . but running through WS in the dark was worth it!

Does anyone remember that course? Someone "jog" my memory!

Oh . . . and when is the BIG announcement supposed to happen?

The old half course is the first half of the marathon course. It is also leg 1 of the marathon relay.

Here is a link to the old half course from the Blue start. This start is not used now, if Disney runs the 2012 tart like the 2011

marathonmommy ~ I believe in April sometime. I don't know if it's April 1 or what, but sometime in April.

Skipping from page 4 and didn't see this mentioned yet....

A Hawaii race since they are opening a new resort there this year?

I thought of that but do not think the resort is large enough for a full blown marathon. Plus, isn't it opening in phases? Though, roadwise, heading north out of Ko Olina you could probably make an out and back course with little traffic disruption

I would be pretty pissed it if's a Princess full... that would have been helpful information before I blew $120 on the January full.

If that is the case, I'm sure they would let you switch if you called

But as exciting as a full princess race would be (I would sign up for it in a heartbeat!) I don't think that will be it. Didn't they have enough trouble filling the Jan full in the past (hence adding the relay to begin with?)? Also, not sure if Disney would want to shut down all the roads again and have all the hoopla in the four parks

At lunch I 'played' with the layout of 26 miles at Ko Olina. Needs some on the ground tweaking but with no effort I came up with 26 miles in less than 5 minutes.

The really neat thing is if you turn on the OpenStreet layer on under map options you can see the foot print of Aulani resort. Sorry, the satellite photos have not caught up.

With all due respect, there's a 0% chance that the new race is going to be at Aulani.

There's a 0% chance it's a lot of things that we've guessed since it's already been decided by runDisney. It's not like it hasn't already been determined by the company. The fun of it all is in the guessing. If it wasn't supposed to be about guesses and fun, runDisney wouldn't be revealing it via clues.

Coach, I think your course Hawaii course would be great and it would give me a good reason to go to the resort (normally the fam. sticks to the park-based resorts). On that basis alone, I think the idea has merit. Attracting new customers to the new resort. :thumbsup2
