Big runDisney announcement coming in April

My dad would be all over that - actually I should see if he wants to come up (mom could come too) for Pride weekend!. He's the best. He has always been so supportive - we're going to a PFLAG meeting tonight, and he was actually involved before I came out. My mom's supportive too...she's just more quiet about it.

That is awesome. My dad is gay, so he's pretty supportive already. Mom less so, but that's okay.

If the dates worked out, I'd be running this. And, yes, I'd be running it whether it was Tink or NL and be just as excited either way.

What I wouldn't be excited for, if I were able to run this, is the insane amount of fairy wings that will be donned and smacking people left and right. I'm all for costumes, especially for a Disney race, but I can see how the wings would get very annoying very quickly. I know people wore wings for the Princess, but seeing as this is Tink-themed, I can see the number of wings going way up.

Hadn't even thought of the wing issue. Just one more reason not to run it for me! It's hard enough to get around someone at a Disney race, add 6 inches or a foot on each side for wings, there's no way I'm getting a good time.

For those on FB, did they mention when the general public can register? I don't see anything on the RunDisney site yet.

It's only open to facebook fans (or people who can find the link) until 2 pm eastern or 11 pacific.

Nothing I have seens says when it's open to the general public.

As long as you have the link, who is gonna know? LOL

Thank god the clues are finally over.

I'm curious to see how well this race will sell. I feel like Disney might be over-saturated themselves a bit with the market - I think for a bunch of folks it will be one trip or another. As others have mentioned, most people don't have the luxury of unlimited time and money to chase Disney medals all over the country.

I'm definitely considering it - but it would be instead of marathon weekend/princess. I've been dying to do a race on the west coast, but my fall is really booked up. This would be a nice race after a fall marathon, and if I can swing all the time off, it's a great excuse to go visit friends in LA after. The theme doesn't concern me as much - I would be interested in it if it was mixed gender or women's only. My boyfriend is not a runner, so he could care less that it's not geared to him - in fact, I think he probably likes it, so he has even more of an excuse to sit out :lmao:

Apparently. What a bunch of <expletive>s everyone in that organization is. Oh how I wish there was an exception for this thread on what I can say here because it would be entertaining for everyone involved.

Since Disney obviously doesn't want me to do their races, with my evil external genitals and all, they will get their wish.

Yeah, what he said! times 2:sad2:

I'm a little shocked that the 5K is $99 (including partial-day park ticket). What about people with APs? :confused3

For those already planning on running it I have a question: Would you be as excited if it were not a gender exclusive race? Let's go with the Race to Neverland theme. You can keep your race necklace which I assume is Tinkerbell.

I say yes! While I'm glad I get to have a women's cut shirt that will actually fit me, I was planning to do this race whether it was women's focused or not. I'd like to eventually do all of the Disney races at some point, and I'm excited to be part of a "first"...it's just a bonus to me that it'll be girly. And my BF would have been "in" for this one with me except he's running a full 2 weeks before, but he'll be there to cheer!

I guess I'm relieved, mostly because of what I learned at Wine and Dine. Inaugural races suck. Even the runDisney machine makes major, major mistakes.

I'm mildly amused that the course map for this race is out but the one for the DL this year is not.

I was just about to post the same thing. :rotfl:

The course for this race packed with pixie dust will begin on Disneyland Drive where runners will pass under Downtown Disney on their way into Disneyland Park. The race will travel down the famed Main Street U.S.A. and pass the home of Tinker Bell and her pixie pals, Pixie Hollow, before it makes its way around the Rivers of America. After Disneyland Park, the race will cut through Downtown Disney by the Disneyland Hotel and then it is on to the City of Anaheim. Runners will race through the enchanting, historic neighborhoods of downtown Anaheim, down the Anaheim Center Street Promenade and past Anaheim Ice on their way towards City Hall. Before returning to the Disneyland Resort they make their way through the Anaheim GardenWalk and then into Disney California Adventure Park. Just before a spectacular finish, runners experience the glitz and glamour of the Park's Hollywood Boulevard and glistening Paradise Bay, and then it's time for their “Fairy”-tale finish at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel.

I love how negative comments appear to be disappearing from the RunDisney FB site. :sad2:

Of course they are. It doesn't matter though, I have lost all respect for them and their entire organization of douche nozzles (again, not the word I really want to use).
