Has anyone eaten at Big River Grille @ BW? My DF and I are going there during our Disneymoon in May (he chose this because it is a brewery), but I've seen only a couple of reviews on it, and no pictures..can anyone help? Also, as far as CS goes, does anyone know anything about El Pirata Y El Perico in MK? DF also chose this one, and I've heard it isn't open a lot. The few reviews I've seen on it say its good, though with a limited menu. Anyone know anything else?

We will eat at Big River Grille if we want a last minute table service while we are at Epcot. My husband says "beer sampler" and that's all we need. The food is average but the suds are very good according to him. I think the beer sampler is six smaller samples of beer. I think they are 4 oz servings so you do get a lot more than a sip or two. And you get the variety of light to dark. And the price is extremely reasonable for it.

I don't know about your other question, sorry.

Stop at the Big River for a beer, and when done walk about 300 feet and go to spoodles. Much nicer.

We eat there at least once a trip when we are staying at the BW. They make an awesome blackened mahi mahi sandwich and a good artichoke/spinach dip. We love to sit at a table outside and enjoy the weather and the view!

We stay at the Swan a lot and this past trip nothing was opened for lunch in the mid afternoon (we're late lunch eaters) at the Swan so we ventured over to check out their menu. Being that it was the first time we at there, I have to say I was actually impressed. We passed it many times and never tried it because I never "heard" much about it.

But, I really like this chicken salad they had and my picky dd loved their grilled cheese. That same night DH came up to join us, but he got in kinda late so he placed a "to go" order there and was quite happy. I would definitely go back again. The food is simple but good and their hours are convenient.

It's fairly small inside but nice to sit outside. It's also VERY reasonable in comparison to other places on the BW. ESPN is similar as far as the food and pricing, but we just don't like it mcuh because it's so loud.

Thanks everyone...I'm glad a couple of you said you like it, because we are going to have to eat there no matter what. DF has pretty much let me plan this entire trip, and this is one of the few places he picked. So even if everyone said it was terrible, I probably wouldn't be able to get out of it! :)

We enjoy eating there. The only thing that we've had over the years that we really didn't like was the meatloaf.

Things we like --
Lite mid afternoon meal = the hummus and veggie platter + beer
Burgers are good
Sandwiches are good
Salads are good

My DBF and I ate at the Big River Grill last time we stayed at the BWI and we really liked it a lot! DBF LOVED the meatloaf (although a previous poster admitted to not liking it), and he loves a good meatloaf. Personal preference I guess. I had a grilled mahi mahi sandwich or maybe grilled tuna sandwich I think and it was very good. We thought the portions were very nice, and DBF even took his leftovers back to the room- and he's a good eater if you know what I mean ;) We enjoyed the beers we tried and I am considering popping in for lunch this October with my mom. I have only been for dinner, but I recommend it. It is a little tight inside, but hey, it's Disney, crowds come with the package :lmao: Enjoy!!

We really liked it. One of our nicest meals last May was when we had lunch there. We sat outside, it was a beautiful day and enjoying the Boardwalk and the view was a nice memory. The food was also very good, I had a chicken salad that was wonderful and dh had a chicken sandwich that he enjoyed. My kids enjoyed the kids meals. And my dh very fondly remembers that beer sampler! It wasn't over the top, extraordinary kind of food, but we certainly enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, I haven't eaten at BRG, but I can help out with the second part of your question. My DW and I had APs last year, and we went a week in spring, a weekend in summer, a weekend in fall, and a week in winter. Our first trip, we had the dining plan, and had planned to eat at El Pirata y Perico for one of our counter service meals. Unfortunately, they were closed the entire week, nor were they open on any of our subsequent trips. According to the most current websites, the only time it was open last year was for handing out candy or "treasure" at the Halloween party and the Princess/Pirate party. They did not serve food at these times.

On our last trip, we took the Keys to the Kingdom tour (which is really great btw). The tour guide stops at several out of the way spots throughout the day to let you rest while they tell you about the park. One of these stops was inside El Pirata. It was secluded, because the restaurant was roped off. This appearance on the KK tour makes me think that there may not be plans to open this restaurant any time soon.:confused3

We ate there last Friday for lunch. We all had burgers and they were very good. Service was quick and efficient.

I am a big fan of their Chattanooga location (these are their only two locations) and stop there every time we are in the area.

That said, I was really disappointed not only in the much smaller menu at the BW location, but also in their ribs, which were tough in an unremarkable sauce.

The pale and white beers I had were okay, but not great. It was good to enjoy a Hefewezen, but I've had many that are much better.

I haven't eaten here since our honeymoon in 1997 so we giving it a try on our 10 anniversary trip this summer!!

Do they take ADR's?

El Pirates is usally only open during the busier times if the year, like Christmas, Portions of Spring Break, etc. I wish it was open all the time, it has pretty good food.

We ate at Big River earlier this month for lunch and we really liked it. The food was good, the portions were huge, service was good, and we were seated immediately even though they don't take ADRs.

No reservations here. But we really don't notice a line for it. Or if there is, we remark that it must be extremely crowded that week. For lunch, it's not a problem at all.

Good beer, good burgers, meatloaf a sorry relic of what it once was, service nonchalant at best. Inside pretty drab, with all the "brewery" odor.

thanks again everybody....I'm a pretty picky eater, so I'll probably get a plain burger or something, which everyone is saying is pretty good. I was wanting to try the ribs, but someone said they were awful, so I think I'll skip them @ Big River and get my rib fix when we go to Flame Tree BBQ in AKL..I've heard those are pretty good!

I agree that this isn't the best big river. There are two in Chattanooga now, and one in Nashville. Also, big river owns Gordon Birsch (sic sorry) and some of the rock bottoms (I know the rock bottoms in Atlanta and in Charlotte are big rivers; there are also some rock bottoms out west that aren't big rivers. I think that the old chicago chain owns some rock bottoms in the north). The beer is pretty good though.

I only see the pirate and the parrot open during the busiest of busy times, like the week of Christmas.
