I have seen very little on the boards about this restaurant. Has anyone ever dined here? The menu looks good ,just curious.

I go every year to WDW and stay at the Boardwalk and have only gone here once. It was about 6 years ago and the smell was unbearable, almost like yeast. It must have been from the brewery. I just haven't had the appetite to go back. DH wanted to try it again in January but we went to FRESH instead.

Hi...this is not a "Disney" Restaurant but seems to have a fun group working and if a nice evening you can sit outside with a great view of the lagoon looking over at Beach Club.

Food is OK, not great...I think I had the Mahi or Grouper sandwich and it was good...I did enjoy the beer from the microbrewery. They have sample trays of all 6 or 7 beers. The bartenders seem to be really fun and friendly. You can order dinner at the bar if you want.

I would say give it a try. ESPN is the other 9-15 dollar meal place and has it's own fun atmosphere on the Boardwalk...

All the best...Ted

When my DH and I were there in April we stopped in for a drink and appetizer at the bar. The bartender was not very friendly and when we pulled out our DDE card his attitude became worse. We left very quickly and will NOT be returning any time in this century.

I second the smell. Stopped in to try lunch and ended up walking out. Looks kinda neat to have beers and apps if there is a seat outside but have yet to try that

The smell is very bad - I thought I was going to be sick at first but after about 10 minutes I didn't notice it anymore.

I think the food is on par with your local TGIFridays or Chili's. Nothing to write home about, nothing too exciting, just okay food. We went in the middle of the afternoon looking for a quick bite and it was quick and decent.

We would never go out of our way to dine there or probably even choose to dine there again unless we were desperate. There are just too many other good, unique spots in that area that we'd choose first.

Big River is okay if you are in a pinch for a quick meal, or if you really like house brews.
We have been twice now. First time for lunch, we had the same sicky yeasty smell, and service started out great. By the end of the meal, those two had flip flopped, and the smell wasn't so bad, but the service then stunk (or is it stank).
Last trip, after a 3+ year layoff, we were in a pinch for dinner, and ate there. Food was okay, and service was much better, but still, nothing is screaming 'go back again'. For lunch, or if we wanted a beer, we would go back, but sit outside in the fresh air. Probably won't waste the budget on another dinner, though.

We have been there 3 times, most recently 2 weeks ago. The food was good. We had cheeseburgers with homemade potato chips. Our server was a very friendly young lady named Ursala...not a name you hear often! :)

If the weather is good, the tables outside are great! When we have been inside, I have noticed a bit of a smell, but nothing at all like the above posters mentioned.. and I am sensative to odors.

Are you sure you all are talking about Big River and not ESPN..ESPN is the one that smells like a toilet when you walk in, a very unappetizing place.

Hubby and I love Big River. The food is very good, the bartenders have always been great. The beers are quite good as well. If it is a nice day, sit out front and people watch.

Been therte twice, but not a third time.

I personally love the smell of Big River and the brewing process, but then again I like beer.

We ate a late lunch there during a Star Wars Weekend. Our first time, and won't be our last! :woohoo: Very good. And I LOVED their Beer Cheese Soup. Blows Le Cellier's chhese soup outta the picture! :wave2:

We went twice. First time was fair. I felt the place was not clean and service was EXTREMELY slow and unattentive. Second time dh liked the beer and I thought the salad was fair. Haven't been back in a couple trips. We prefer ESPN.

No, def Big River. I've never been to ESPN, though DH has. When we walked into Big River, I immediately asked what the heck that smell was because it smelled horrendous - the hostess said it was the beer fermenting. I didn't notice the smell after 10 minutes or so but I wasn't sure I could stay in there at first.

I just asked DH about ESPN and he said he didn't notice anything but does remember Big River "stinking" - maybe it depends on the time of day? We went about 3pm for a late lunch.

We have eaten there before and weren't that impressed with it. The food was ok but there wasn't much of it and the prices seemed a little high for what we got.

My DH makes homebrew and I LOVE the smell of beer brewing and fermenting. We've never gone to Big River Grill, but will definately be hitting it in Sept. to try their brews. :thumbsup2

DW and I went a few years ago and loved it. Went this past Sept. and YUCK! Food was blah and the swarm of gnats flying over my table really added to the dining experience. I do have to say the beer was outstanding! :drinking1

:thumbsup2 Our home resort is the Boardwalk and we LOVE going there at least twice during our trip. The cheese soup is very good and there rocken bb chicken is very yummy. I give this place a 2 :thumbsup2

Cheerleading trip :cheer2: BCV 2-Bedroom Jan.16 to 23

We've eaten there once and found it to be okay....nothing terrific. The service was fine, the food was fine. We're not so 'into' beer but found it to be decent enough.

Ate there last month but ate outside so we never experienced the smell others are talking about. Now I'm thankful for wanting to sit outside!

Food was fine---your typical burger/pasta plates. Nothing special, but it was nice to sit & watch all the activity on the boardwalk. :)
