Ok I have read about 3 million conflicting stories about Big River Grille. I have the feeling this post will add a few, but I'm willing to take that chance :)

I've read BRG does not take ADRs from WDW-DINE. Ok fair enough. I just read in a post somewhere that they DO take ADRs. Is that through the restaurant itself? Also-can I call now, or do I need to wait for 30 days ahead or something.

Bottom line-can I or can't I make an ADR for BRG? And if I can-where/when can I do so??? Thanks!

You definitely can't make an ADR through Disney. We did make an actual reservation by calling the restaurant but that was in 2007 so who knows if the rules have changed. Your best bet is to call the restaurant directly (407-560-0253) and ask them. The Big River web site makes no mention of reservations which is weird for a restaurant.

I don't know why that is weird. Most restaurants like this (Chili's, Applebee's, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood), don't take reservations. It's kind of odd, at least for us, to ever make reservations to eat out at home.

In the context of a home town restaurant I have to agree that it is not weird. We don't make reservations either except for fine dining. Maybe I just expect Big River to have reservations because all of the places around them do. They likely don't need them since they become the place people go when they can't get in anywhere else.

Most people just walk up and wait here, those with a reservation will get in quicker, especially if it's a busy meal time or the Boardwalk area is crowded with people looking for somewhere to eat. Having an ADR doesn't hurt, and you may get to bypass a line of walk ups.

I dont understand how its on the DDP but you cant make ADR thru Disney.. So do you need to make ADR? Or is this one of the rare places in Disney you dont Need to?

My best recollection from experience is that you cannot make an ADR but you can walk up day of and make a ressie. This is usually effective enough to get in - it is just a little difficult as that means you have to deliberately be in the area early that day in order to get a reservation. I am not sure if there is a call ahead there - might be - but either way, it is usually easy enough to get in here unless you are talking about a terribly busy time of year (i.e. 4th of July)

I called directly to Big River. They called it "priority seating", the same concept as ADR' s I guess. Its not a proper reservation, they just seat you before any walk-ins that may be waiting.
BTW...this was my DH's favourite meal of our last trip!

We actually sat outside, GREAT place to people watch! The seating is all covered so I would recommend sitting outside rather than in!

We ate here Feb of 2007 - I was attending a conference at the YC/BC conference center and one of my friends had taken a morning walk around the boardwalk and stopped at BRG and reserved a table for that night. We did sit outside - there is not a ton of seating inside or outside at this place. We enjoyed the food and it was nice to be able to sit out on the boardwalk.
