Has anyone eaten at the Big River Grille & Brewing Works? What's it like? Any info, good or bad would be appreciated. I understand that it doesn't take PS's, did you have to wait really long. We are going in July so I know it will probably be crowded. :crowded: Maybe if we do and early dinner it wouldn't be too bad. Any thoughts? :wave2: TIA

We've eaten there two times. The first time was about two years ago for dinner. We didn't wait more than 15 minutes and it started raining so everyone out front wanted to move inside. The food wasn't great, we had burgers and I would compare it to Chili's burgers. The beer is mediocre for microbrew. We went back last October for lunch and the food was a little better. There was no wait (which is why we went - ESPN was CROWDED). I think the tables are really close together or maybe the furniture is too big...There are better places to eat IMHO but in a pinch, it'll do.

Nothing special. Don't make a special trip to eat there. It is Chili's type food only not as good. (and I'm not a Chili's fan.)

We went there on July 6th 2004 (Tuesday) and there was no wait. I enjoyed the ribs and also enjoyed the beer sampler. I thought the beer sampler was a good deal. I believe it was one 3 oz. glasses of each of the 7 beers they had and it wasn't more than $6.00.

I agree! It's the worst place I've ever eaten at ever. The food was gross and burnt. How on earth can a restaurant screw up meatloaf? The service wasn't even mediocre and well, we didn't have beer. The place sure does smell good though. It's tight inside (it was raining when we went). We went last July and they took PS back then. There are much better places to eat at. I'd pick ESPN over Big River. Well, I'd pick anything over Big River. That was just our experience (all 4 of us incl. in-laws hated it). You may like it. The only way you'll know is to try it yourself. Everyone has different tastes. Personally, I am open to new places, foods, drinks, etc., but burnt food is not on the list and neither is poor service.

Different opinion here--. The beers are just fine (especially when compared to the "usual suspects" at ESPN). And you can hear yourself think, unlike ESPN. The meatloaf is very good, as are the burgers. Sit outside if you can--inside is pretty drab. Service isn't great--but then neither is the service at ESPN!!

It's funny how opinions differ! I LOVED this place. The chicken dish I had was one of the best I've ever had. I ordered:
Hazelnut Crusted Chicken - sauteed and served in sundried cherry sauce, accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day $14.99
(Taken from Deb's site). However, if the weather was good and I had to sit inside, I'd pass this restaurant. The room leaves much to be desired - too small, too industrial. But, sitting outside on the boardwalk, eating a delicious meal and people watching at the same time was a very nice experience for DH and me.

When we stay at BWV, we usually eat lunch there once each trip. Never had to wait for a table, sitting outside is great if the weather is nice. We love their burgers. They serve them with chips though that are not that great.

We've eaten there twice. First time was yuck, said we'd never go back but decided to give them another chance in February and it was better, but still not great. I had a chicken pasta dish that was pretty good. I agree there are better choices in the area.

We ate their a few years ago and it was just eh....

Tried it in October and it was GREAT!! My husband had the Big Brew Burger and I had the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich and our son had the PBJ. We sat outside, it was our rist day there and really liked it.

We went back again a couple of weeks ago, and had another super lunch! Again, I had the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich and Matt had the PBJ but my husband had the Rocket Red Barbecue Sandwich and really liked it a lot. We also got the Jalaepeno Spinich & Cheese Dip and it was EXCELLENT!!! He also had the beer sampler and really enjoyed them all.

The servers were friendly and spent a lot of time coming over to talk to us and check on us.

We are hoping to go again in July! :)

Thanks for all your replies. We'll be there for 10 days in July so we have alot of eating to do, maybe we'll try it for lunch. :earsgirl:

I've had similar experiences. After three times I decided that there were just too many other good places to eat at WDW so I just don't bother with this one anymore.

We ate there last April and thought the food was ok. We went for dinner at about 5:30 and there was no wait to sit outside. Like some one else said it was good for something quick and easy, but nothing special.

We eat there about once a trip and love it. My favorite is that Jalaepeno dip. I'm wishing I could eat that right now.

We eat at BRG all the time and love it. We especially love their meatloaf!!!!! Funny how different, opinions can be.

Ate there twice. Food was so so. Service was awful. Won't ever go there again.

We've eaten there twice and thought the food was good. I wouldn't say great, but we will definitely eat there again.

The beer's not bad at all. I haven't found any food I really like there yet.
