Big River Grill ...any good?

We ate there in May and enjoyed it. Pub atmosphere and our group got a pretty wide range of food from burgers, to soups and salads to seafood.

Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service(and beer) was good.

Well, I will continue to contribute to the reviews and say that we really like Big River. My fiance LOVES the meatloaf there, and I have enjoyed my meals both times we have eaten there. It is nothing fancy or overly special, but we liked the beers they had and the food was good. We also just like the Boardwalk atmosphere, so maybe that contributed to our enjoyment.

I will tolerate a lot. In my whole life (I am 39), I have walked out of TWO restaurants. This was #2. The seating area was dirty though it was empty, and the service was terrible ( we were ignored for 30 min after being handed menus). We went over to ESPN and had a great burger instead. Never again. There are lots of great places to eat in WDW - including some awesome counter service - I give the BRG a triple EW!!! Don't do it!!!

Was there earlier this year for dinner and it did not impress me that much. I will probably not go back again.

Here is what I wrote about it in my trippie about BRG:

"Finally our buzzing coaster buzzed. Wooohoooo!!!!! And we even got a table out side. It was a very pleasant evening so it was a great table.

Since we had already perused the menu we didn’t need a lot of time to decide. So when our waiter arrived Mom and I both ordered the Summer Seasonal Wowser’s Wheat beer - which was very good - and our meals.

Mom’s salad - Grilled Chicken Cashew Salad - marinated and served cold atop a bed of mixed greens with artichoke hearts, Feta cheese, tomatoes and cashews with honey mustard dressing

Flat Brody was anticipating my chicken - Hazelnut Crusted Chicken - sauteed and served in sundried cherry sauce, accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day

Mom’s salad was really good but my chicken was only alright. Hazelnut crusted chicken sounded really good when I read it on the menu but it was just a piece of chicken with some gravy sauce. But the zucchini and squash were really good. Of course since I was starved I ate all of my chicken anyways.

One thing I did notice about Big River Grille & Brewery Works is that is wasn’t run very efficiently. They didn’t turn the tables quickly at all. People had to wait a good while to pay because the poor wait staff had to bus all of their tables. I just don’t understand why Disney can’t take a page or two from some of the really well run restaurants around the country. It would make the whole Disney experience much better for the guests and the company would make more money. Hmmmm - sounds like a no brainer to me."

Only been there once, for a late dinner. It was fine. I think there are so many great places on property to eat, i wouldn't make a point to eat there. but if you are staying at the BWI or are in the area for something else, it is a fine choice. The food was good, the service was okay (should have been more attentive for late in the evening with the place emptying out). prices were fine.

Big River isn't Disney owned or operated. So Disney has no control over the bad service, cleanliness, etc. Other than to close them down if they fail to meet the terms of their contract.

We can expect more of this in the near future when they reopen DTD-Pleasure Island with contracted dining.

WE enjoyed it....thought it was very good.....service was great.....only had about 5 other tables with patrons (slow night)....it is a micro brewery....glass panels with all the stainless tanks.....the rest. did have a strange odor because of the beer being made.......
We were on the DDP, I had NY Oscar, steak with crab meat, bernaise sauce and they let me do a shrimp add on......here are photos.....sorry I forgot to take it before I started eating (kind of gross I know!!!).....I already ate my peas before the photo ( I know, good boy.....DW let me order another beer!!)

We will go back.
Menu is larger than what you see on the sites for some reason.....quite a few choices.....
Rocket Red beer is good...........

I love their burgers. I also love sitting out on the Boardwalk on a nice afternoon, especially right after I get there.
