Ok Day 3
Starting to not be able to fit in my clothes...lol
Anyway ...we got a late start so we decided to head down to the boardwalk for b-fast. I figured we might try Spoodles. Only problem was....Spoodles does not serve b-fast. I swear I had read they do somewhere. Anyway...by now it was lunchtime....and guess what .....there are basically no restaraunts open on the boardwalk for lunch except Big River Grill.
So we walked into BRG and there was absolutleyno wait...the place was actually pretty empty. We decided to eat inside rather than on the patio beacuse it was a pretty hot day.
Our waiter came over right away and took our drink orders. We both just ordered iced teas because we thought better of drinking before going to typhoon lagoon. DBF ordered some nachos and salsa and a salad for apps...and I ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce. DBF's salad was good ...but nothing special. The salsa was very good ...very tasty without being overly spicy. My chicken skewers were awesome. The sauce was very tasty without overpowering the chicken. I could've licked my plate clean. For entrees dbf ordered a barbeque sandwich which for some reason he had been craving for the last few days. ( dbf never eats barbeque sandwiches).I ordered a cheeseburger. The barbeque sandwich was huge with large chunks of pulled pork. It was also very tasty. My burger was also huge. It was not the pre-made patty kind......but abour 3/4 of an inch thick. It was done perfectly...just as I ordered it. The fries that came with it were also really good. For dessert dbf wanted the chocolate cake. I am not crazy about chocolate cake but only really wanted a taste of dessert so we agreed on the cake. This cake was really good. It was not your typical chocolate cake. It had layers of cake with a type of mousse thing in between. I ended up eating half of it. It wasn't too chocolatey.
We also both had coffee with dessert.

I think our meal would have been around $45. For the quality and the quantity of food this restaraunt would be an excellent choice.
They also have several of their own microbrews....but we didn't get a chance to try them even though we vowed we'd come back later for a couple of drinks.
Dinner
Wolfgang Puck's upstairs. ( my fav meal of the whole trip)
We had a ps for 6:00 because we were going to see La Nouba at 9:00. BTW...if you haven't seen La Nouba......definitely see it!!!
We were seated immediately at the perfect table. We were right by the window with a view of the lake.
Our waiter came over and told us about the specials for the night. I wish I could remember his name...because he was so funny. We ordered drinks. I had an apple martini.......by far the best one I've ever had and dbf had a margarita...see a pattern yet????lol Another waiter then came over to take our order. I had a chef's special sushi It was kinda like a philly roll but with filet mignon in the middle. Dbf ordered a duck appetizer. I can't remember the name. While we were waiting for our apps...the first waiter came back over to chat and see what we had decided on. Then the 2nd waiter brought out apps. My sushi was out of this world. Dbf duck appetizer was also really good. It had layers of duck mixed between layers of a flatbread type thing. DBF really enjoyed it. In the meantime a 3rd waiter had entered our realm to refill our water glasses and such. Boy were we getting spoiled. For entrees dbf orderd the special NY strip. I believe it was a 24 oz strip. I ordered the grouper...since I had never tried this before. DBF's strip was really good. My grouper was great also. I believe it was served with a mushroom risotto. In the meantime we had also decided to order another drink. I spotted the cantaloupe martini on the drink menu...and it intrigued me so I ordered one. This is the best drink I've ever had !!!! It had a cantaloupe undertone but not sickening and not overly sweet.....very refreshing. All 3 of our waiters had been taking care of us during this time. For dessert we chose the vanilla creme brulee and a couple of cappuccinos. This is the first time either of us have ever had creme brulee. It is not offered many places in our area. This dessert was to die for. I am now an official creme brulee addict.

The cost of the dinner was around $150.w/o drinks
Beware the drink prices though. Martinis are $15.
If you decide to try one...definitely go for the cantaloupe.
