Anyone know why there is such a huge price differance between UA and AA. Dates I am looking at price differance is over 100.00 OCH!! Do you think AA will come down? I'm looking at end of November

I can only tell you I found the same thing, and with the Group Sales at each! :confused3 We have 10 flying together (16 total) so I called Group Sales at each. I got $276pp at Uni(TED) and $499 at AA!! :faint: If that didn't nail the decision, what would?! LOL

Good Luck to you!!! :thumbsup2

United is trying to lure passengers back, after the scare with their recent bankruptcy.

I have flown UA and AA many times. I prefer UA over AA any day. I've always found the service on UA much better than AA's. Just my humble opinion though. :)

Are all of AA's fares (all flights to that destination on the day in question and the two days before and after) that high? Are all of United's fares that low?

Maybe AA just ran out of lowest price seats for the flights you were looking at.

Airlines will not necessarily get into a fare war with the most popular dates such as Sunday after Thanksgiving.

To the OP,
I'm with you!! I too am looking for the end of November at our UAL flight is gradually creeping down, while AA has not budged. However if we want to go the following week AA is much cheaper than UAL :scratchin

I am currently sitting on a $267 flight from ORD to MCO leaving the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I am hoping :worship: that the Sunday leg of the trip will come down a little (it is priced at $151), but I am not overly optimistic at this point because of the day.

Good luck!!

I looking out of ORD as well 11-26 tru 12/2 I know I have 9 months to go but I was under the impression the sooner you book the cheaper it is.

I personally just got $202+tax R/T from MCO to LAX on United... non-stop both ways, and great flight times. American wanted twice that... (and now if I were to rebook on United, so would they...) so maybe I just caught a fare sale.

At any rate, I wish United was as flexible as Southwest was when it comes to flight changes. I just accepted a new position, and my training falls right during my trip to Disneyland! I hate to push the training back, but vacation comes first!! :)

Is that huge price difference still there. It could take a day for other airlines to match prices in their computer systems. Airlines may even add seats to lower priced categories (classes; "buckets") when a fare war breaks out.

Tyler: With Disney? Are they understanding about your vacation schedule?

Others eavesdropping: After getting a job offer you can negotiate start date as well as negotiate salary further. Nowadays (I work as a temp) I often say "there is an encumbrance on my time namely such and such a week off" when applying for jobs.

That was my hope as I started looking for the flight at 331 days out. They were much higher then (well over $300) and are down to $262 today (including fees). I just want to book and be done with it, but DH wants to hold out a little longer and see if we can get closer to $200...

I think that it is a combination of things but I will say it does seem that United is being more aggressive in their pricing than AA right now. I fly very regularly for business and have seen this occur over and over. Now to the real reason for my post - depending where you are in the Chicago area you might want to consider traveling out of Milwaukee (we have had good luck with Midwest direct to Orlando) and the parking is far cheaper in Milwaukee. If that is not a good option for you then I would book with Uni(TED) and have a wonderful trip! :earsboy:

Considering what I am missing, I am surprised that they are very willing to work around my vacation. However, I'm very good at catching up... and when I told them it was DL, they were all smiles. After all, I'm turning my paycheck right back to the company! :)
