I finally caught the show last night. I hear it won't really hit its stride until episode 3. I thought it would be one of those shows that just relies on its outrageous premise (in this case, polygamy) to get an audience. Now that I've seen it, I think it has potential. As a Latter-Day Saint (albeit an extremely liberal one) I thought I would be offended, but I wasn't. (I'm not sure why that surprised me, I loved Angels In America too.) I do agree that life on the compound is a much more accurate picture polygamy than Bill Paxton and family. But I think that's a contrast that the writers are trying to emphasize. My husband and I joined the church as adults and have never stepped foot in Utah except as tourists, so maybe our perspective is different than most. But, we really like the show and will have to figure out some kind of compromise betweenwatching it and Grey's Anatomy. We have DISH, so I guess we'll just Tivo it from HBO-W while we're sleeping and watch it during the week.
