Big disappointments !!

Hi, I would LOVE to see the DESSERT PARTY at MK continue!! We were in WDW in July but it did not fit into our plans. Would love to be able to do it when we go back in November for Thanksgiving. It seems to me it would be PERFECT to bring back for the HOLIDAY SEASON!! Are you LISTENING WDW?? Joan

I think they stopped it because of the buffet being offered at Tomorrowland Terrace during free dining on sundays and some other days- but I think your holiday themed dessert party idea is so cute! Could you imagine, they could display some gingerbread houses, have cookies, and other traditional holiday favorites...

I KNOW wouldn't it be SO MUCH FUN to attend a SPECIAL HOLIDAY DESSERT PARTY in the MK!! They could also do this in EPCOT with dessert and ADULT beverages!! Joan

If it's true, and they stick to the current schedule, Sundays and dinners past 6 PM will be rat-free.

Rat free meals are a good thing.

Our upcoming Oct trip will be our first visit to Chefs and I was disappointed that we were going to miss Remy. We like the characters and this seems to be a different sort of interaction that would be fun to experience at least once, I hope the rumor is true!

And I agree with Nala, if it helps someone be gainfully employed it helps all of us!

I hope they don't extend the Wishes party thing because that's were we like to watch Wishes from... having to pay and share it isn't something I'd be happy about.

Agree! And I don't understand why some people go to WDW and get annoyed about Disney theming, or complain that there's too much Disney stuff in the shops(!!) What do they expect? If they want non-Disney stuff. just go to one of the millions of shops outside WDW. Oh and this was no rant, I just find it weird and amusing. (Just reading through and thinking I might have to add that I mean no offence...)

Then why not go to any typical french bistro? Isn't the reason you go to WDW is to be absorbed into Walt's world? If it were up to me I'd have characters/disney theming in some sort or fashion in all the restaurants. That's what/who I go to WDW for. There can be a happy blend of characteur and fine dining. Le chefs is a prime example, lil Remy is out for only a few minutes, but is enough to emerse you into Disney and not take away from the meal.

Don't have a problem with Remy, but no way do I want every WDW restaurant to be a character experience. What would they do at Victoria & Albert's? Tons of characters in the parks and shows, they don't need them in every single restaurant too.

As for the Wishes dessert party...there's also the Halloween and Christmas hard-ticket parties coming up, so there's a lot of nights where they couldn't offer the dessert party.

Oh I think they do, haha!! I love the characters and if they Disneyfied everything on property I'd be even happier I do realise people want different things, but if I wanted a restaurant without Disney theming I'd just go to somewhere outside WDW. But that's me, I'm glad people who don't want Disney theming get what they want too

I didn't say I don't want Disney theming. There is a difference between Disney theming and having characters walk through every restaurant. Signature restaurants with walk-through characters would become very different types of restaurants. Part of "Disney theming" is having themes that take you to a particular section of the world, which includes also making an attempt to theme the food- like Ohana. Is Ohana's theming not enough, we also need dinner to be a character meal like breakfast? Is it not enough that Kouzzina is Greek and Yak & Yeti looks like someone's idea of Kathmandu and Marrakesh looks Moroccan, they need characters to make it Disney?

I did say I don't mind Remy, but I am pleased that Chefs de France is not owned by Disney, because the usual procedure by the current management at WDW is to recognize that people are signing up to see the characters and the food is secondary, so they downgrade the food and charge the same.

When I say "Disney theming" I include characters in that I also don't think the 3 min. Remy show can be compared with the characters at for example Chef Mickey's. I love'em, but I can understand why some people think it's too much, or find it interrupting!

I love the charcters, but that does not mean food is secondary for me! I love great food too and think I'm getting that at many of the characters meals.

I've been to Disneyland and Disneyland Paris also and as far as I am concerned that is the Disney hallmark - well-themed experiences for all without always relying on characters.

I don't like the food at the buffets much except for Boma and Biergarten (neither is a character meal), but that's just me. I don't really like breakfast foods either so no breakfast meals.

Thinking that Disney is "all about the characters" and there's no point in going if you don't want to see them is as bad as thinking it's "all about the rides" and there's no point in going if you don't like roller coasters or that it's "all about kids" and you shouldn't go if you don't have any. Disney is about a *lot* of things and personally I like that some parts of it are *not* about the characters. I'm pretty disappointed they changed PotC and the Living Seas.

This huge obsession with adding characters to every single nook and cranny is drawing attention *away from* Walt's genius, which was NOT about the characters ... if it was, we'd all be going to Six Flags to see the Loony Toons characters every year instead, or to Sesame Place as a PP said. Walt's genius was about appealing to *all* ages, attention to detail, the little things.

Personally I'd rather they hired back another custodial CM to keep the restrooms up to the Disney level of cleanliness than an actor to work Remy. Actually, they could probably afford to hire *two* custodial CMs.

We are eating at Chefs on Sept 15th and I really hope that they still have Remy around. I think it is totally cute and something my kids would totally adore. Sure, we love Chefs anyways, that is why we are going but seeing Remy would be a really nice treat while there.

ACK! When I took DD to see Ratatouille, she was about 8. I could tell she just wasn't that entranced. So I asked her if she was enjoying the movie. She said, "I don't know.....Rats.....in a kitchen......with food....while they're cooking. I mean, what's up with that? It's kind of disgusting if you ask me."

I told DH when we got home and he said, "Yep...She's your daughter, alright." I admitted the movie had skeeved me out too. I guess we'll have to go for dinner. I can't handle a rat, animatronic or not, being around my food.
