Big disappointment in Prime Time

I've never written a negative thread on a restaurant, because I try to find good in all of the restaurants at Disney. I'm not going to slam them either, yes, I will go back, but not right away.
We picked Prime Time for our Christmas dinner. We did not go away hungry, but we did go away disappointed.
Prime Time got rid of the great onion straws we always ordered, they are now regular round onion rings with the dipping sauce - we did order them, but not again.
THEN, my husband ordered the meat loaf, his favorite. When the platter came, he had one small piece of meat loaf, an end piece. The waitress asked if there was a problem (she was very quiet, but very nice, I feel sorry for ANYONE who must work on Christmas Day-I spoke to employees about the holiday, they don't get compensated in any way for working a holiday - it is just another day-we did tip well because of the holiday)...my husband told her he always got two huge pieces...she took it back, and brought another piece, not an end piece, but just one small piece....maybe it was the holiday, maybe they are just cutting back on the portions.
Like I said, I NEVER slam a Disney restaurant - my reason for going to Disney is eating at all the restaurants I can, including counter service (our favorite is Yakatori) - LeCellier was simply AWESOME also.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We had the total opposite in the beginning of December. Like you said, maybe they were having an off-day because of the holiday, but that's no excuse. I would write a letter to the manager of the restaurant.

We went there for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I ordered the meat loaf and got 2 slices. I would call them average slices-certainly not huge. I had no problem eating the whole meal. Like you said, maybe they are cutting down on their portions. We both enjoyed our dinner there and will return. It is great comfort food, isn't it??

I know the feeling when you are used to a certain meal and it does not live up to it's past reputation. For me, it was my first time so I didn't know any better. They probably should have given your husband a much larger piece, being Christmas dinner and all. Happy New Year!

We ate at Prime Time on Dec 21st which was our third visit to the restaurant and I must say for the first time we left a little disapointed as well. The food was great but our waitress just didn t seem to interested in playing her role as they have done in the past.I even tried to spur her on a little since it was the first visit for my son and grandson but she just made a couple of in charactor responses and then took off.My wife left her green beans on the plate hoping to get a reaction so my grandson would be entertained but our waitress just grabbed the plate made no comment and took off.Oh well it was busy and maybe she wasn t having a charactor type day, we still go back just because of the food.

Sorry your visit wasn't there wasn't that great. I haven't had the meatloaf (im not a meatloaf person) so I can't comment on that. But it seemed that all the portions there were huge and to give your husband one skimpy end piece, not good. Maybe it was an off day or maybe there were some problems in the kitchen. Hopefully you will try it again and get a better serving.

We were also a little disappointed in the food at Primetime on our last visit this past October. The onion rings were ok. My DH and I both ordered the pot roast. His was fine, but half of mine was mostly fatty grizzle . Even our waitress noticed the nasty leftovers by saying "That looks really yucky. Looks like you got a plate full of fat instead of pot roast!!" The pot roast at LTT was a lot better.

Our waitress was really into her role. It was fun until she found out we were from New England. She sat down next to me and talked thru my entire meal about how much she missed it, how different Florida was from Conn., etc... My husband was a really annoyed by this. The only time she left my side was to get the check.


If it's up to my DH we will be skipping PTC on our next visit.

We stopped at their lounge the day after Christmas and were disappointed to find they'd changed the onion rings. They also got rid of the clam roll so it's unlikely we'll eat there again. Btw, it was only 3:30ish but the restaurant seemed packed.

We have eaten lunch there twice, many years ago, and weren't all that impressed. I doubt we'd ever go back.

Don't feel bad about giving accurate feedback either way. That's what these threads are for. Our family did PT and didn't like it for a number of reasons so we don't go back there. My advice always is to try it and decide for yourself. Some family dynamics just mesh well with certain eateries and others don't. We absolutely love Sci Fi and Tony's (how's that for two different extremes) so reviews are interesting to read but they don't sway me away from either of them. New on our list for summer is The Brown Derby.

Here is a pic of my meatloaf back in Early Dec.... the portion really wasn't that big (one slice.. the mashed potatos are under the piece), considering it was about 16.00! I got more green beans than anything. It was good, but I was dissapointed about the portion size for the price.....

Portion sizes were very much less than what we remembered from the past as well. We went in Mid December, overall it was a great experience, but I know I was able to clear my plate and that was the only place I was able to all week--but I did not order dessert. We did have a great CM "babysitter" Topher, he was intense but hysterical and we all really had a great time.

Yeah I am not too impressed with Prime Time either. I probably wont go back... its nothing too great and if you waiter/waitress doesnt play along it is really no need to visit.

This was the only meal of our entire trip that i completely finished, and had room for dessert...we went four times in 2004, twice in 2003, 2002 & 2001 and they were all exceptional. This time was still really good but had smaller portions. My big complaint about this place is its always really crowded and they often sit you practically with another family that you do not know.

And to the OP - I was very disappointed in the onion ring thing too - I got the fried cheese instead, because I asked specifically about the onion situation before I ordered. Not overly impressed with my choice, but I know I'd have been really disappointed with the rings

We were there Christmas lunch as well and noticed that the servers did look a little frazzled. Our portions were the same size they had always been. DW had the meatloaf and thought it was as big as usual. They did seem a little slower at times but the food and drinks were still brought out quickly.

In doing a search of the food picture thread it appears that one slice of meatloaf has been the norm for some time now, so this change is not new.

And the cost of a meal is not directly corralated to the amount of food served. The cost of a meal also takes into account the salaries of the waitress, the bus boy, the chef, and the hostess, as well as the maintance and upkeep of the building and utility costs. Since disney did not cut those services in half with the portions, they did not effectively double the price of the meal.

We ate there December 20, and as we have eaten there before, we expected the Prime TIme experience. Our waitress did nothing. All she said was the rules are no elbows on the table. That was it. She waited on the table next to us, it was their first time, and she basically just brought the food. That was it. The waiter a few tables over was awesome with his people. We ended up paying attention to them. Maybe she was mad beause DD and I split a meal? But I ordered soup and we had dessert. Who knows?

Even the first time we went, the waitress was just so so. Maybe it is because it is just DD and I? After hearing all the great stories, I doubt we will go back. I don't like Hollywood and Vine..we ate there in 03 for new years, it was busy and dirty. So I guess we will try the Brown Derby next time.
