Three weeks to go and DH suddenly develops an opinion about our Disney trip. :rotfl2: DH has suggested that I substitute Biergarten for Rose and Crown because it'll be more fun for the kids (3 and 4). I agree that it will probably be more fun, but I'm scared about the food at Biergarten. I don't eat any pork. I am not really a sausage kind of girl. I'll eat turkey sausage though or even veal sauasage - just not pork. The kids don't eat pork either. But they like beef hot dogs. The Rose and Crown menu looks a lot more appealing to me (I picked it because of the beer choices and scotch flights for DH) but since DH finally took an interest, I should probably consider his opinion and fully consider Biergarten -particularly since the oompah band will be a hit with the girls. :lmao: So folks, what is the food like? Is there anything for a non-pork eating person?

We have been to both and Biergarten is by far our favorite.. we felt like the food at Rose and Crown was tasteless.

They have a variety of meats at Biergarten, it is more festive, they have Spaetzle which is like a pasta of sorts.. I believe they had alot of chicken too and some beef.. not sure though about the beef. They also have kids foods too like Mac N Cheese.. The desserts are great too!

Have fun either way you decide!

Biergarten, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated and best kept secrets in Epcot - it is always high on my list when I go. The kids will love, love, love it.

Shhhhh, don't tell anyone else!

I'm a vegetarian who loves biergarten! There is plenty there to eat for those who do nto eat meat, or do not like the types of meat there. Great place!

While there is certainly pork to be had, there is a lot to choose from on the Biergarten buffet including chicken, veggie and soup dishes. Our kids love this restaurant and it is DH's favorite. He loves the beer and the cheesecake! I say go for it!

There is tons to eat that isn't pork. And the hot dogs there are just like the hot dogs at the rest of Disney. We love Biergarten. I've eaten at Rose and Crown a couple of times before and have always been less than impressed my their food.

Well I think others have filled in on the food. I just want to say that kids of all ages in our group ( and we go with a big group ) all love this place. The entertainment and atmosphere alone make it worth it.

I agree with the person who said this restaurant is the best kept secret of Epcot! I LOVE it. The only reason we aren't going back there is because we want to try other restaurants but every single day I rethink my decision. It was SO good and my kids LOVED the entertainment.

We love both places, but the kids will absolutely have more fun at the Biergarten. They do a stage show and invite everyone up to participate. Siggy soki siggy soki oy oy oy!

Hmmm. OK, need to rethink. When would you schedule it for?

I have:
11/13 dinner at Coral Reef 5:55
11/14 lunch at Akershus 12:15

I am thinking of scheduling it for 11/14 at dinner-time. There is a show at 6:50 according to the park schedule and another at 8:15. I was thinking of maybe doing it between 6:15 - 6:30 to allow time for the kids to eat before the show begins. But, I'm thinking that I'll probably want to reschedule Akershus to an earlier time (around 10:30 or 11).... Or would you leave Akershus as is and do Biergarten at 7:45 or so but plan to have a snack in the afternoon while in the World Showcase (we'll probably want to do that anyway) and then maybe see Illuminations afterwards?

I would do this the same day as Akershus. Try for a 6pm or later ressie. The food as you may have guessed is of the "heavier" type. Not good right before let's say Test Track or Mission Space. But great for before Illuminations or the boat ride in Mexico.
