The entertainment was fun, but the food was just eh. DS6 was not impressed. I don't think we'll be back.

I agree about the food. It's often cold, and really heavy on the meats and starches. There's also really not much in the way of foods picky-eating kids will eat.

But, for me, the entertainment is awesome, the beer is cold, and the food, although a bit meaty/starchy, at least fills me up.

When we were there for our DD's 6 birthday 2 years ago, the server saw her wearing her "It's My Birthday" button on her shirt and brought out a small cake (for free) for her after our meal. The band played Happy Birthday and got the whole place to sing it to her. That's a memory we will always cherish.

I agree with you 100% we went last tuesday night and loved the show...food was ok and the serves was bad

The first time we went was a few trips back and ds was turning 6 and we got a free bday cake from out cm. She was wonderful! We are now pen pals and I just love her to death!! But, when we went last May, our waitress was awful!! She was the rudest person on staff I have ever seen at Disney. The food was not so good this time. The best-of course- was the Flourintine (sp?) cookies!!

I think we had the same waitress she spent most of her time flirting with the bartender

Heh - it's kind of funny because my husband and I were just talking about dining plans for Thanksgiving weekend (not Thanksgiving night). Biergarten is on our short list. In fact, it's in the final running.

really heavy on the meats and starches.

Yep, that's German food for the most part. Growing up if a meal didn't have meat and some type of starch it was not a meal that would "put meat on your bones" according to my grandma. :) I think that is why we stop at the Beirgarten just about every trip, but my DH says it is the cold beer :rotfl: .

Ditto here! My grandmother's father came here from Germany as a boy and I think that German DNA def. comes to the forefront!;) I love the Biergarten. The food is comfort food to me, as I spent lots of time with my grandparents growing up, and ate alot of sausages, potatoes and sauerkraut. I also love the atmosphere here and IMO, you gotta have a mug o' beer to sing along with! I can't wait to eat here again in October. We've always been for lunch and this will be our first dinner here. Not alot of differences, but I'm still looking forward to it!

We have an ADR over X-mas that I am going back and forth over keeping. I have heard almost unanimously great things about it which is why I booked it in the first place. But...in looking at the food list for the buffet not much appeals to me. I'm sure my kids will be fine with the kids fare. For $80 or so for a family I really want enjoy it.

Our family's 2006 Christmas Day Dinner was at Biergarten and it was fabulous! We eat there every trip and have always had a wonderful time. :cloud9:

We ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved it. The food was all excellent, especially the roast pork. The atmoshpere and entertainment was great too, and the beer was even better.

Too bad, we totally had a different experience. My 3 boys, 3-6-9, had a great time. We thought the atmosphere was fun and everyone liked the food. We had a great waitress and were seated with another group that were very nice. It goes to show, that everybody had different experiences.

disnut8-If it's on your short list, I'd try it out. I like to read restaurant reviews but if I really am interested in checking something out I will.

DH and I really enjoyed Biergarten when we finally tried it last month. I was in carb heaven between the huge beer and pretzel bread.

OP, just curious did you dine in any other restaurants while you were there? I see you live in FL, was this an extended trip?

Its funny...guess that's why there are so many different types of restaurants. We LOVE Biergarten and eat there all the time. We are a family of meat and potato eaters (kids are 10 & 8) and lover German food.

Beer's not bad either:thumbsup2

Actually, we've been there a few times before. For Thanksgiving weekend, we're only doing one table service meal and we were trying to find something different. But we went through everything we hadn't tried (small list) and there are reasons we haven't tried those places yet. So we looked back at some of our favorites. Biergarten was at the top of both of our lists.

I always get a bit of a chuckle by people who don't like the food. We both grew up with that kind of food. Meat and potatoes or a variation of potatoes. Heavy stuff but that's our heritage.

just to further prove that there are different strokes for different folks......

WE LOVE THIS PLACE - food included.

of course we are a family that has german roots on both sides and many of the dishes call up dishes that we remember as kids, but don't get that often anymore.

starch - heck yea! fat - heck yea! meat, meat and more meat (preferably in the form of sausage) - now we're talking!!!

seriously, for us this place is one of our first eating venues and we all look forward to it.

That's actually one of the reasons we love this place is the heavy meat and starch. We are from German-Irish heritage, so this is comfort food for our family.

That's true for our family too, there are some restaurants I have no desire to try. I would definitely go back to Biergarten in the future, we enjoyed the food and the big beers!
