Biergarten Restaurant

Well, if Kathleen (Forever42) likes it, that's good enough for me! :D

We'll also be trying Biergarten for the first time as part of the CP dinner package. Looking forward to it!

Haha, *blush*, you flatter me too much! There are places I hate that people love and vice versa :earboy2:

That's how we first did Biergarten last year, with the CP package. We loved it so much we went back a few days later! I'm looking forward to see how you guys like it for the first time.

Edit: we did go on a whim (no camera with us, bah) in October and noticed that the pretzel bread had CARAWAY seeds in it. Ugh. We also noticed that they had pretzel bread, sourdough bread, and multigrain bread - the same as Canada. Hmm...

I love German food (had two German grandmothers) but my wife was a little weary of it. She loved it especially the soups, chicken, salmon and the salads. My daughters loved the bratwurst, chicken soup, cheeses, breads and the desserts. It is a fun atmoshpere and a nice break from the crowds. I can see how it may not be for everyone but it is worth at least once go around!

Have a great time!

We enjoy Biergarten. We wil be eating there again in January. It is really pretty authentic German food. Kind of heavy--yes--- but very good. Just like my Grandma would make. Give it a try, you might be surprised!

Love-love-love the Biergarten! I think DH could live in that place. Sauerkraut and sauerbraten 24/7 for that man would be heaven! I think there is a very nice spread of food for everyone.

I don't mind the seating at all. We have met some very nice people that way. One couple, about our age, sat next to us and the lady was a vegetarian and she had plenty to eat. Another time we sat next to an older couple and the man *was* German! He was great, he would tell us all about living in Germany and how he and his wife met and how they had just been in Germany not too long ago for her first trip... he even sang along with the band made sure we all toasted together!

We have PS's there for dinner - but we will eat there probably 4 or 5 times thin next trip!

We ate there last week for the first time. My in-laws were already in Orlando and we were coming up from south Florida later in the evening. We had originally planned on not going to a park that day, but the in-laws decided to use up one of their park hopper days to go to Epcot. We have AP's so it does not matter to us if we just go to a park for a couple of hours. Anyway I called to get a PS and the only place available for 6 people was the Biergarten at 8pm. I had read the mixed reviews and was not excited about it, but we really liked it. The kids loved the band and the food was very good. I had the German wine flight and really enjoyed it. The only area they were weak on was the desserts, but I'm spoiled by Boma desserts. We went pretty late also, so they were not replacing foods and I only managed to snag a couple of pieces of pretzel bread for our table. I would definitely do this place again.

The last time I ate there it was not yet a buffet (really dating myself here!!). Back then, the entertainment was available only at dinner. We're planning to go on our January trip. Is the entertainment available at lunch time now?

We LOVE the Biergarten! Have eaten there several times. Never been there at dinner time - both times were around 1 or 2 pm. It is a bit cheaper for lunch and the food is the same except for 1 or 2 items that I can't remember at the moment. The band plays in the afternoon but I don't know what time they start or if they play all day long. They seem to perform for 20 minutes then are gone for a while and then play again. We took our time eating and saw the show several times. The food is awesome and very authentic. (I lived over in Germany for 8 years as an Army brat.) The CM's are wonderful and they are always very glad to talk to you about Germany etc. My kids love that! We don't mind sharing the table. It is very European and adds to the experience. But we have been lucky and share with nice people both times. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!!

We make the Biergarten a must PS every trip. it is a wonderful buffet of German food prepared by German chefs. There are hot and cold selections that our kids liked the first time they tried them. I'm partial to the sweet saurbraten, kraut, pea salad, weinersnitzel, and they have a hot apple dessert with vanilla sauce that is so yummy. You can also select a wine array and have a HUGE stein of beer. Very good. Well worth a try.

We love the Biergarten as well. I used to live in Germany and it reminds me of a biergarten that was down the street from my apt. The food is great and even picky DD finds stuff she enjoys there.

Give it a try!

Ok, ok, this thread drove me nuts! I'm dragging FH over to Biergarten tonight :earboy2: I'm down in Orlando early this weekend for personal reasons and getting a good eyeful of the decorations early!

I'm so jealous!! Have an apple strudel with vanilla sauce for me! YUMMMY!!!! :D Wonder if I could talk the DH into a quick trip down this weekend?! :Pinkbounc

Hehe, I definitely will, I love that vanilla sauce! Where in NE Florida are you?

Just put the DH in the car and don't tell him where you're going ;)

Just want to add to the comments on the band.

Its loud. Loud enough that its hard to carry on a conversation. Plus the getting up and down that is the buffet, and this isn't a restaurant to talk in, We actually prefer the band not playing, so we can talk about what we did and what we will do. And find the price worthwhile even without the band.

With the loud polka music, the buffet and sitting with strangers, this may be WDW's worst choice for a romantic meal.

But the food is good and plentiful.

Well, for the first time, tonight we actually were seated with nice people and had great conversation :) Every time we go, it always gets better. Food was great, as always.

The woman in the couple that we talked to was from Poland, near the German border, and said that the food was very similar to what she ate when she was growing up (she was in her late 20s, I think).

Hmmm ... now that sounds like a plan!! :D We are in Jacksonville - not too far away! We always joke that when I get in my car it automatically heads towards WDW!! :moped:

That's not too bad of a drive :) Now that I'm in Gainesville til next August, my car ALWAYS wants to drive right to Orlando, too! (My fiance is more of a pull than Disney, though ;) )

I mean to make it over to Jacksonville someday, because of the spice store Penzey's that you have over there. I'm very jealous!

I would love to go to this restaurant but I hate the fact that it is a buffet and I'm not keen on sitting with strangers.

We ate there in October and we did not like the food but the entertainment was good. Some pics of the entertainment can be found here

You can request a table for yourself and they will accomodate you if it's not crowded

Spaten Optimator is my favorite beer, bar none. It's a definite plus that it's served at the Biergarten!
