Biergarten Made DH Sick

My parents, DH and I went to eat lunch at Biergarten on 10/6. Everything was going well but my DH started to feel sick. He said all the meat he tasted there tasted like beer. DH and I don't drink so this is really strange. He was sick the rest of the day and we had to call it an early night which was really bad b/c it was our last day there. The rest of us were fine but we're used to eating there as well as other unique foods. Unfortunately, my DH was brought up on cooking w/o a lot of spices. We've never encountered this before. Has this ever happened to anyone else? :confused3

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I got very sick the last time we were at Disney so I know what a bummer it can be. We've eaten a couple of times at Biergarten and it has never happen to us.

I know a few people who got sick there, but they attributed it to the food being so rich and heavy after walking around a hot park and going on thrill rides. :confused3

So sorry to hear that. Biergarten has always been and will continue to be one of our "must eats" at WDW. I got sick one year after eating at Le Cellier, but I know it was because of the duck appetizer and rich dessert I ordered after the entree. That'll teach me! :thumbsup2

Perhaps, since you don't drink your husband was a bit overcome by the scent of beer that permeates the dining hall? I've dined there several times and never been ill from the experience.

I have become ill from eating too much rich food at one setting (too much variety of rich foods) but that wasn't the fault of the food!

German food is heavy on vinegar and caraway along with some other aromatic spices. If he is not used to them, that may have upset his stomach, but caraway for one is considered a digestif (in the herb family).

Hopefully, he recovered and all was well for the journey home.

I ate at a German restaurant in a German town in Texas many years ago and it was my first experience with German food. I had some type of meat that had a really rich cream type of sauce on it and I became very ill afterwards. I just attibuted it to eating something that was very different from what I was used to. A guy that I used to know grew up in China (his parents were missionaries) and he was used to eating a fairly bland diet because they ate lots of rice and those types of foods while he grew up. They moved back to the US when he was a teenager and he started eating greasy fast food, etc, and it made him extremely ill because his body wasn't used to it.
