I ate there on my last trip during the first week of December.
The food was quite good and to my surprise wasn't greasy. I especially liked the fact that some of the desserts were low sugar.
The meals are served buffet style so once you've placed your drink order you walk up to the buffet and grab a plate. I recommend walking the whole buffet before you start sampling so you get an idea of what you're dealing with. There is a lot of variety on the buffet. If you're undecided about eating there the staff will let you walk in and look over the buffet.
If you're not familar with German food I recommend trying some of the sausages. I was pleasantly surpised. If you have questions there are people behind the buffet who are happy to explain anything you want to know.
I recomend going up in three trips:
1 - Salads and Breads
2 - Main course
3 - Dessert
If you try to pile it all on one plate you'll land up with a disaster. I recommend making this your main meal of the day.
The seating is at large tables designed to hold 8-10 people (???). Unless you have a large party you will be seated with someone else. If you're traveling by youself this is a great way to meet someone and share your Disney experience.
If you have small children you might want to ask to be seated closer to the stage so they can get up and participate in the show.
If you decide not to dine there I recommend going in and watching the show anyway. The German band is a lot of fun. The staff doesn't mind if you stand in the entry way to the entrance as long as they aren't overly busy.
