Biergarten in Germany

Does anyone care to share their experiences at this restaurant? I stopped in our last visit and it looked like fun. Any recommendations on meals? Thanks.

I ate there on my last trip during the first week of December.

The food was quite good and to my surprise wasn't greasy. I especially liked the fact that some of the desserts were low sugar.

The meals are served buffet style so once you've placed your drink order you walk up to the buffet and grab a plate. I recommend walking the whole buffet before you start sampling so you get an idea of what you're dealing with. There is a lot of variety on the buffet. If you're undecided about eating there the staff will let you walk in and look over the buffet.

If you're not familar with German food I recommend trying some of the sausages. I was pleasantly surpised. If you have questions there are people behind the buffet who are happy to explain anything you want to know.

I recomend going up in three trips:

1 - Salads and Breads
2 - Main course
3 - Dessert

If you try to pile it all on one plate you'll land up with a disaster. I recommend making this your main meal of the day.

The seating is at large tables designed to hold 8-10 people (???). Unless you have a large party you will be seated with someone else. If you're traveling by youself this is a great way to meet someone and share your Disney experience.

If you have small children you might want to ask to be seated closer to the stage so they can get up and participate in the show.

If you decide not to dine there I recommend going in and watching the show anyway. The German band is a lot of fun. The staff doesn't mind if you stand in the entry way to the entrance as long as they aren't overly busy.

I too am a big fan of Biergarten. Both times I've been the food has been excellent. The food is actually pretty authentic and I do love German food. I can't think of anything I've had there that I didn't like. My favorites are the salads, especially the tomato salad, the sausages, and the apple streudel for dessert.

On top of the food the entertainment is great and you can order enormous beers. We overheard a conversation between a father and son regarding the father's Becks dark beer:

"Dad, that's the biggest Diet Coke I've ever seen!!!"

"No, Son, that's my beer."

Enjoy!

safetymom - I too would recommend the Biergarten. We've eaten dinner there the past couple of years and have enjoyed the buffet. The kid's had a good time with the show.

We enjoy going there. You should love it if you enjoy German food. Family style seating can be a plus or minus. If you are seated next to people who are there to enjoy the surroundings; It can be a lot of fun. If on a rare occasion you are seated next to rude folks with personalities of a brick, (happened to us this last time) you have to make the best of it. Make sure to ask for the complimentary wheelbarrow escort out the door.;)

Biergarten is one of our musts every trip. We really enjoy the variety of the foods offered. At first I was worried about all the fatty foods, but I was pleasantly surprised - there was roasted chicken (yummy) and other low fat, low cal offerings. I saved all my calories for the strudel with vanilla cream sauce for dessert!!!!

We usually go for a very late lunch to save money. The entertainment is pretty good too. It was Oktoberfest last time we were there and a band played all day.

We love Biergarten. My 13 DS rates it as his favoirte restaurant anywhere. The food is very good and has always been fresh and hot (or cold if that is the case). The first time we ate there we were seated with a family with 2 boys near the age of DS. It really appeared on our 2 trips that they do try to sit people with similar aged kids, or adults only with like parties. The second trip we were a party of 8 so we took up the entire table

We loved it! The buffet was very good and well spaced out and the music and beer is just plain fun. My daughter (3) got up and danced with the band and they were really great about involving the audience. I think you will really like it.

My bf is insisting on eating at Biergarten on our trip in Aug. I have managed to convince him to eat lunch there rather than dinner. I have some reservations though. I haven't eaten much german food and I don't like spicy sausage. Will there still be something there for me to eat?

if you don't like sausage you probably want to eat dinner instead of lunch. There are more meats offered at Dinner

do you like bakes chicken, pork roast, pot roast(sauerbraten), breaded chicken cutlets(chicken Schnitzel) salmon etc? If so then you'll find plenty to eat on the dinner buffet
