Biergarten help please?

Well My DSis and DBIL have finally decided they want to eat in Germany on one of our Epcot days. So my question is: Is there sometime special I should try for? I think there is a show of some kind while you eat. Is that continuous? How can I be sure we get to see this, since this is the main reason they want to go here.

Any reviews on the food. I am not so thrilled with this choice, but I have never been, so it is a good chance to try something new.

Any advice on picking a time?

We (Mom 49 and DD 9) love the Biergarten. The food is great and the entertainment - a german band plays during lunch and at dinner. They do play on a schedule (not sure of exact timing) but it is like every 30 minutes (for about 20 minutes) and then they take a break.
I was hesitant about my daughter liking the food (on her first trip in Dec 2004) - but she loved it and she is a picky eater. The chicken is like roasted chicken and the roasted potatoes are great.
She actually asks that we eat there at least twice during our yearly visits to WDW.
As for timing - lunch and dinner is about the same and the band does play during lunch and dinner - see the menus here http://allearsnet.com/menu/men_ger.htm .

One more thing to note - it is family style - they sit 8 people to a table - so if this makes you uncomfortable to eat at a table with strangers - this may not be for you.
We did ask to be moved one time - when they tried to sit us with a group of rowdy college students who were drinking a lot of beer and very loud. So the hostess gladly sat us at a quieter table.

I believe the current times are 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00, and 8:05. The show lasts approx. 25 minutes.

We ate there for the first time this past Saurday. The food was really good. The band was a lot of fun. My 5 year old son loved it. We had a really great time. I would eat there again. I don't think that there is a bad seat in the place.

We have to eat here for my DH - I'm not a fan of most of the food, but can make stuff myself on chicken, chicken spatzle soup, pretzel bread and desserts!!! We made our ressie for lunch this time - right at noon when they open. I hadn't checked Steve Soare's sight for showtimes because I thought there were about every 1/2 hour and we'd catch one. Well, because the 1st show didn't start till 1:15 we had to stretch out our meal to catch the show. I don't know if they dance at dinner, but they didn't at the 1st show for lunch. I know they used to do the chicken dance and I think the hokey pokey sometimes? Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to go, but I would look into the show times and plan a little better next time!

We were there in March and they did dance. They brought the kids down to dance with them (all of them who wanted to go, not just certain kids picked from the audience). We were there about 1 1/2 and they danced right at teh beginning and at the end. We loved it because we could see dd4 dancing from our table. She was busy having fun...and we were busy eating! The food was a bit on the bland side, but good. The sausages were very good!

Thank you for your responses! I am getting a little more excited about it. My DDnieces (4 of them) love to see ladies dressed up and singing. So this may be a good choice for them.

Is the restaurant outside? Some of the description say you feel like you are outside.

I could be wrong, but I think the band is all men. At least it was when we were there. Its an entertaining show, though.

The restaurant is inside, but its decorated like you are outside.

We have also eaten here. We were very happy with the food and atmosphere.Although,if you have a small party,say 4 or less,you may be seated with other people.That's the only part I didn't like.I loved the music,I felt like I was at a party!!

we tried this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we should have asked to be moved.....got stuck with some snobs..... but dh and I liked the food, dd12 ate chicken and i think some mac and cheese, there were no chicken fingers or hot dogs for the kids, glad we tried it but doubt we do it again next trip.

Hi, we traveled last year with my parents and our 4 & 1-1/2 year old girls, but the grandparents flew home before the Biergarten ADR. We were a little nervous about eating in a restaurant with just 1:1 grown-up to child ratio, but we had a blast. Both girls danced and ate well. We had to wait quite a while for our table--our children don't have much patience when they're hungry. But we were seated with another family of 4 with 2 little girls--a perfect match.

The Chicken Schnitzel is kinda like chicken fingers (breaded white meat chicken) and my DD age 9 loved it.
That is mainly what she eats when we go there, and she is a picky eater.
I know you will love the restaurant.

DH and I went last year and loved it! Of course, we really like German food, too. Here's a couple of pictures we took of the inside:

They're a little dark, but it is decorated to look like it is at night.

ETA: I played with the second one in our photoshop program to lighten it up a little. It is lighter, but the picture is kind of noisy. The camera wasn't the greatest in the world, but you get the general idea.

We ate their on our last night in the World and I think it was my favorite dinner there! Very happy atmosphere, and I loved the food. It was exactly the stuff I grew up on but never get to have now that i live in the south I had worried about being seated with bratty kids (saw far too many of those on our trip...) but all the children there seemed to have a great time on the dance floor.

We went there a few years ago with our DDs (who were then 6, 10, and 11) and we all had a lot of fun. The food was mild enough so that even the things they hadn't tried before were fairly kid-friendly. And if I remember correctly there was some nice grilled meat and accompaniments - pork perhaps -- that I really enjoyed.

The atmosphere was fun and festive and it was perfectly fine to take part in the dancing or sit back and enjoy it while others did.

A funny thing happened there that our girls still bring up from time to time. When I made the ressie, I secretly let them know it was my DH's birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant, the waitress pulled my DH aside and whispered - "I understand it's someone's birthday and that we're keeping it a surprise. Whose is it?" My husband beamed "Mine!" The poor waitress was mortified and kept apologizing all night - but we just thought it was funny!
