My kiddos are CRAZY about the Nudel Gratin from the QS in Germany. Can anybody who has eaten at Biergarten tell me if the "macaroni and cheese" on their menu for both lunch and dinner is the same thing.

Thanks :)

I am about 90% sure it is the same thing. I have been to Sommerfest and Biergarten numerous times and someone always get the mac and cheese. I haven't noticed a difference. Disney Food Blog says its the same thing at both places and even gives a recipe for it.

I can't really vouch for the same because I haven't done QS, but I can tell you the mac & cheese at Biergarten was AWESOME!

Hmm. I had the Nudel Gratin from Sommerfest not that long ago, and it wasn't like anything I've seen on the buffet at Biergarten BUT I haven't been to the Biergarten recently. It was awesome, DH and I split a serving, yum.

The menu on Disney's website just states "macaroni and cheese" and I believe in the past that is exactly what it was...just regular style mac and cheese. I've seen a couple blog posts and photos that show something that looks like a rectangular pan with a layer of melted cheese on top, what looks like the Nudel Gratin, and I've seen photos of what looks like regular mac and cheese.

1) You can decide for yourself.
2) Actual Recipe for Germany's Nudel Gratin (aka, Mac-and-Cheese):

Ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch ground white pepper
Pinch nutmeg
4 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
4 ounces white cheddar cheese, shredded
1 pound cooked elbow macaroni

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 375F. Spray a 16×9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
2. Combine cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a large bowl, whisking to combine.
. . . Mix cheeses together in a small bowl until combined.
. . . Remove 1 cup cheese and set aside.
. . . Stir remaining cheeses into cream mixture.
3. Cook macaroni until just tender; drain and add cream mixture, stirring immediately.
. . . Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Cover with foil.
4. Bake 30 minutes.
. . . Remove foil, and sprinkle reserved cheese over top of noodles.
. . . Bake 15 minutes longer.
5. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
. . . Serve warm.

I think it's the same thing. The mac and cheese at Biergarten is definitly not the orange Stouffers-looking stuff found at most other places, it's more of a baked casserole with a layer of cheese on top.
