I am looking for some feedback on the BB Boutique. I have two DDs (they'll be 5 1/2 and just turned 3). I wasn't really considering doing this with them but my inlaws just offered to buy it for the girls as a gift (I am assuming the basic package, not the one with the dress). I am not sure why I am not jumping all over this, but I have a few reservations so I was hoping someone could give me some feedback on these issues:

1) My younger DD has very short, fine hair (it is still growing in). Will she be able to participate? Will they be able to do anything with it? i can't have one DD do it w/o the other but I wonder what they can do for her.

2) What happens after the first day? What are you all doing about baths, pool, sleeping, etc with all this makeup and hairspray and glitter? I am concerned it will be a huge fight when it is time to take it out.

3) We are not positive when we can get to DTD. Just by coincidence DH and I were just planning last night, trying to find time during the trip to go there. We have one afternoon possible, but if it doesn't work are only other time is our last night. So basically we'd have to go that afternoon, even though it might be tough to squeeze in.

4) DH is worried my older DD won't like it (she has balked a bit at dress up parties about having people do her hair/makeup). I am actually more worried about little DD. She will be days over 3. Do you think she will get anything out of it? I am worried she'll be sort of freaked at that age (she is not super shy, just seems young).

5) For girls who don't get the whole dress thing, do they feel left out? I would be sure to dress them up for the experience, but we wouldn't buy the dress there. Is that a letdown?

Am I letting my practical side get in the way? It seems like such a waste - so much money for something that will wash out a few hours later. But I don't want to force them to miss out on something that could be great. Any thoughts on any of my concerns? JJ

We took our girls who were 5.5 years and 3.3 years in July. The 5 year old loves the whole dress up thing, but the 3 year old usually does not. In fact, when we first got there, she did not even want to do it. Once she saw her big sister do it, she loved it! The same thing happened when we took them to the Libby Lu at the mall a few months prior to that.

We did NOT do the dress thing but instead had them dressed in matching disney outfits (much cheaper) when we got there. They did not seem to care at all.

They clip the fake hair into your daughter's hair with bobby pins. If she can have a ponytail of any kind, they should be able to do it.

We had it done the very last thing before we left for the week and it worked out well because we did not have to worry about washing it all out in a hotel bathtub. The makeup came off the first night but the glitter in the hair seemed to stay in DD3's hair for some time. But we also have a harder time getting her to let us really scrub her head right now and she has thick hair.

I'm glad that we went it. I think I have the girls' pictures in my signature, so you can see what they were wearing and how it turned out. We took our own pictures and did not buy any that they took. I would like to do it with them at some point and do the whole fancy dress and pictures thing, but a budget is a budget. :)

Hmm, that might be a problem. Her hair can maybe be pulled up on the sides as a little "half pony", but defintely not too much more than fluff. She'd probably want a princess do, fwiw.

I wonder if there is another idea I can suggest to my MIL instead that would be fun for them. Unfortunately, most of the special events are much more costly than this. Anyone else have thoughts? JJ
