Is it worth it? The princess makeover? My daughter is 5 and loves princesses. Does it take long? What package would you recommend? Some seem awfully pricey!

Worth it?, well as a Dad, my first response was no. On our second trip to WDW, we did a large family gathering, and all my nieces were going, and it was to be a surprise for them all. How could I say no? I went for the full treatment. To see my sweet one, be surprised, and see her the rest of the day as Sleeping Beauty, well it would have been worth anything!!! (By the way, she'll be celebrating her Sweet-Sixteen on our next trip to the World, New Years 2014 - 2015! Where'd that little girl go?)
So truly, it's too expensive, but worth it! Does that make sense? :confused3
Sorry, hope this helps, instead of just being ambiguous.
:thumbsup2

hi! we did BBB castle package for DD4 tbis july...she turned into aurora and was just sooo happy!!! and we were too. for us it was worth it... from the picking of the princess to the reveal and the photos... ♡
well, she said she wanted to turn into a princess again, she even asked for it at snow white's wishing well...
she did it again that week!! ;) yep... verry expensive.. but she is only 4 once... second time she was ariel... princess ariel made a BIG deal in fantasy faire royal hall... so totally worth it!!!

It all depends on the person, for us and our 4 year old it was worth every penny! We did the castle package back in December and to this day she still talks about it. Transforming any young girl who loves princesses into one themselves is priceless. When they announce of arrival of your princess at the royal hall topped the cake! and of course being lead to the front and through a special door for the meet and greet!! Timing wise I would say from start to finish including meet and greet was about 2 hours. But they will tell you at BBB what to expect for timing. After our daughter was made up we had about a 15-25 minute wait for the picture session.

It costs a lot but the way my wife and I see it.....Our kids are only little for so long and I don't want to miss seeing my little girl as a Disney Princess! We have a Castle Pkg. booked for our trip coming up!

I really want to do the Castle package but just can't believe it's $198.00. Close to $100 would be expensive but would be considered a splurge. $200 is just crazy.

Can someone explain why it would take 2 hrs? I did Bibbity on the Disney Cruise and it was about 30 minutes for make up and hair. Then the princess thing can't be more then 20 minutes. Why did it take 2 hrs? That's a big chunk out of a day with smaller hours.

We did the make over but brought our own dress and then planned to do Ariel's grotto for lunch. It was definitely worth it (and only around $50). She looked so cute all dressed up and the hair lasted until she went swimming a couple of days later! It is definitely a memory that I won't forget and we have some great pictures!

The $200 package includes one of the premium dresses found at BBB. We have done the $50 package twice (DD is 6!) and it was worth every penny - as everyone above has stated, it is priceless when your daughter becomes a princess and is swept up in that magic... This time we have booked the Castle Package - mostly because we NEED and Elsa dress and rumour has it most of the Elsa dresses are being hoarded at BBB.

The $200 package also includes a photo shoot/Portrait package in the Cinderella carriage (at the back) and the VIP entrance into the hall to meet the princesses.

Only 30 days to go!! princess:

When we checked in took about 10-15 mins to call her name, then the overhaul maybe took 20-40 mins, waited 15-15 mins for the pics once pics started they take there time to get the best pics so that was about another 20-30 mins. Lastly the VIP escort to royal hall for the meet and greet lost track of time as they notice which princesses were at BBB and each princess took her time talking and playing with our children. Maybe it was fluke our apt took that long but no complaining here, we enjoyed every minute of it!

We took our almost 4 year old there as a surprise birthday present during our first trip (her actual birthday was the following week). We did the hair and makeup only package and brought one of her own princess dresses to wear for the day. She LOVED it! They truly made her feel like a real princess and they have little bits of "magic" that make the experience even better. She was called "Princess" by many CMs throughout the day. I was worried she was going to complain about her hair hurting after a while but she never did. I think she actually wanted to keep her hair the same the next day. I made her bath after that though, the amount of hairspray used was enough to tame a lion.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay what they charge for their dresses/costumes when I can buy the exact same thing (or nearly) at Walmart for 1/3 the price. That's why we brought our own.

Do they have Elsa as a theme now?

Also what princesses are in the Royal Court? Do they mix them up or always the same?

As far as I know, the Anna and Elsa "themed" make overs are only at Studio 365, however they do sell their dresses at BBB.

We have met Cinderella, Ariel, Aurora, Tianna, Belle, Snow White and Rapunzel there. Merida is up on her own by IASW and Anna and Elsa have their own "house" in Fantasy Land

My daughter does BBB every year at WDW. We have booked for our DLR trip as well. I can say at WDW it is definitely worth the time and price. We buy a new dress at Disney store and take it with us and do the $50 package. We always go in October, so most of the time the costumes are in sale by the time we go. Have fun!!

I will go against the consensus here and say that I do not find value in BBB. DD7 has been dressing up at the parks in Disney Princess dresses (some from Target, some from DL), Nightmare Before Christmas outfits, Disney tutus, etc. since she was an infant but even considering all of the $$$$ we spend on each trip I cannot justify even the makeover at BBB.

It does seem to be gaining popularity though and DD has always been covetous of that pink sash!

I noticed a couple weeks ago that they now sell the pink sash (approx $8) and the tiara (approx $12) in the store. I bought her the sash and she was in hog heaven.

She was also really into the false hair with the white and blue streaks they put in the BBB hairdos so she's saving her money to buy it next trip. They sell that in the shop as well.

It is very, very easy to dress your princess up without the time suck and cost of BBB.

Almost every girl already has several Disney Princess dresses at home, or they can be picked up very cheaply at Target or authentic Parks dresses are cheap on ebay, usually including the shoes, crown, etc.

Take along hair accessories to fit the dress she will wear, like a bun sock, bobby pins, ribbons, crown, and do not forget to take glitter hairspray! If you're not great at princess hair youtube is your friend! Pale, glittery makeup is icing on the cake.

It takes us about 10 minutes do do her hair in the room; if we're in a hurry in the morning we'll fix her up on our afternoon break if she wants to.

I am explaining all of this - though it seems common sense - because the comments read to me like people think that if they say "No" to BBB or don't go all out for the surprise of BBB, that their little girl's entire trip and possibly childhood might be ruined. Your girl will have a wonderful time at DL no matter whether she gets the Elsa dress and makeover at BBB, runs around in her torn Belle dress and flip flops from home, or wears her comfy, cute, regular ol' clothes.

I completely agree about the fact that our DD6 will have an amazing time with or without BBB.... It is an extra treat that we splurge on because of how it makes us and DD6 feel, and the joy and satisfaction we get while watching our princess enjoy her transformation. We would never consider doing it more than once per trip either... It is one day...the rest of the time she wears those torn dresses from home, the logo'd t-shirt etc.

Everyone has a budget and everyone has the things they splurge on.... It is up to you what that is. Ours is BBB and our daughter rather than expensive meals, character meals or tours. It is this (BBB) experience, at this time, that matters most to us!

absolutely!!! every family should consider budget and what they value. and of course she will have a great time at DLR no matter what!!!
we enjoyed BBB so much since my dd4 has some sensory issues and will not ride most of the rides...
so we knew what type activities she would enjoy: character meals, meeting the princesses, makeovers, dressing up, parades....
but if the OP ia considering BBB and is within budget, Do it, girls do enjoy it!!
